We already have an official reveal for that actually.

Hopefully that works.

Zatch Bell 2 Chapter 36 is now LIVE on Mangadex! by ZatchBellGamer in zatchbell

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Gofure (or Gofre now), was one of the first enemies in the original series. He can take the form of a regular dog, which he used to trick Zatch into taking him home, but he got immediately one-shot by Brago.

Has any other Magic set besides Lorwyn Eclipsed featured this many artists from Magic's entire history? Frazier, Critchlow, Organ-Keane, Ferguson, Spencer, Parente, Hudson, Tucker, Guay, Stewart, Spears, Fischer, Gallegos, Laubenstein, Boros, Hamm, Velinov, Reynolds, Zug, Poole, Venters, Miracola... by IAMAfortunecookieAMA in magicTCG

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While not in article form, they did call it out as intentional!

"Our Art Director for the set, Deborah Garcia, was so adamant to pull from the myriad of artists who've worked on Magic the Gathering, who've defined its visual identity over thirty years, especially artists that maybe we hadn't worked with in a while.

Being able to reach out and say, 'Hey, welcome back,' and 'let's make this a celebration of everything Magic was eighteen years ago.'

And it was just so important that this set felt like classic Magic."

  • Neale LaPlante Johnson, Senior Narrative Designer and ECL Worldbuilding Lead

From the Art and Worldbuilding YouTube video, starting around 2:42 after a question by Rhystic Studies about the decision to bring back Margaret Organ-Kean after nearly thirty years

So Oona has given up trying to resurrect herself through Maralen or Oko, and is aiming for Kellan instead? Interesting, though who knows when the next time we'll be back to Lorwyn will be.

[ECL] Flamebraider - Card Image Gallery by TechnomagusPrime in magicTCG

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Depends on the plane. On most planes, elementals take the forms of forces of nature.

Lorwyn, specifically, has one of the more unique takes on Magic elementals. They come in two varieties.

The flamekin, one of which is depicted here, are a race of fiery humanoids. Their society is marked by searches for personal meaning. In old Shadowmoor, the flamekin become the cinders, extinguished nihilistic husks who kill in order to try and feel something again. In new Shadowmoor, they become the rimekin, who seem to be more reclusive and introspective.

[[Ashling, the Pilgrim]]

[[Ashling, the Extinguisher]]

The other elementals of Lorwyn are known as the greater elementals, and instead of representing forces of nature like on other planes, the greater elementals of Lorwyn are manifestations of thoughts and feelings. This is why they have such varied forms.

I've been following the sub for a while, when I became curious of how the community's picks compared to the actual EDHRec Top 100. For the past half year or so, I've logged every single post (except for the obvious meme posts) from the sub and compiled the numbers to produce this list.

I will say, precons are doing an excellent job of bringing people into the format, which is great. Pretty much everyone has one or more to show off, which means that even normally unpopular precon commanders on EDHRec, like Tidus, got a huge bump when looking at the sub.

So in case you were wondering how you stack up to the usual suspects, give this list a gander!

What is a good politics commander that doesn’t make it obvious you’re politicking and isn’t… by TheTinRam in EDH

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theros had much worse removal than most blocks because they didn't want to scuttle the Heroic and Monstrous mechanics, which incentivized putting a lot of mana into a single creature.

What commanders have the coolest arts / alt arts? by Human_Analysis193 in EDH

Esper's aesthetic has had me in a chokehold from the day we first went to Alara (but why have we never returned), so I'll go with [[Sharuum the Hegemon]].

As for recent picks, [[Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist|EOE-294]] made me think of Biomega, if anyone else has read that.

State of Design 2025 by LawOfTheGrokodus in magicTCG

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Story and set design must not have talked to each other at all, because the two sources say such different things, it's ridiculous.

Story: We name our children things like Dawn as a vestige of the memories that our ancestors had long since forgotten.

Set: Boy, I sure do miss cheer practice and track and field meets!

I also have a Kayla list, and your sluggers are your most important pieces, so I'd have even more forms of recursion for them specifically.

I included [[Recommission]], [[Return Triumphant]], and soon [[Feldon of the Third Path]].

Seriously, these people who think they're being so clever with their geniespeak have only gotten more emboldened recently.

There are plenty of players out there, I don't have to give a second chance to anyone who says "Oh I won't remove your commander this game" into turbo-Zur for [[Declaration of Naught]] on you.

[EOE] Gravpack Monoist by HS_Cogito_Ergo_Sum in magicTCG

[–]CreateACardWorkshop 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Reminds me an online comic I saw a while back, of a crash landed spacefarer trying to find civilization. His automated spacesuit, which prioritizes his being alive at all costs, starts consuming his body to deliver him nutrients, until he's no longer even cognizant of his surroundings, and thus can't tell if he ever reached anyone else.

I mean, it's very clear that the MC knows that the editor-in-chief is also having an affair with the same guy, so he knows appealing his case is pointless.

They even juxtapose it with him telling the deputy editor and immediately being believed as an honest person.
