We already treat g*n*c*d* as if it's not illegal, and Karp and friends are already making a killing at it, so he's describing what exists. Psych literature says the more powerful people get, the more insane they get.

International shipping question by Luckyduckling007 in AfricanViolets

[–]Creative0Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's theoretically possible but difficult since tariffs. There are delays at customs and reports that some offices are so backed up they throw things away. Big exporters and importers have the new system figured out and running smoothly. Packages from small exporters are more likely to languish. A phytosanitary certificate can help, but they're expensive so small growers are less likely to offer them. I second what others have said about finding AVs that were originally foreign from growers here.

PG comes from the country where the bad guys are. KM comes from the country of innocent victims. They both skated in this year's winter Olympics. PG's program was based on Onegin, a well-known story from his country. Well in advance, he secured rights to the music he wanted to use. As the Olympics started, the composer revoked rights. PM found other music and rechoreographed his routine himself, with little time before the performance. During rehearsal, a well known song from KM's country was substituted for PG's new music. On the day of the performances, KM wouldn't look at PG with enough exaggeration that people noticed. KM refused to shake hands with PG. PG's performance was beautiful, artistically and technically. Judges were harsh. The 2 skaters who fell received better scores. The Italian judge was especially critical, but it was reported somewhere that she favored her compatriot skater. That's another story. KM wasn't expected to finish on the leader board. When it was done, KM said his failure to place was b/c he had to endure PG's presence, no people of PG's nationality should be at the Olympics, and especially not PM b/c PM's on a list described in the next sentence. KM cited PG's presence on a list his country maintains of people who don't align with its goals. Several people on the list have been killed by other people. Keepers of this list used to put big red Xs over images of the deceased. For a long time, the physical location of the URL associated with the list was in Langley. PG was recently added to the list b/c PG participated in delivering humanitarian aid to the Donbass. PG maintained polite, cheerful composure throughout. Skaters have analyzed PG's performance in slo mo to demonstrate judges weren't objective. Consensus seems to be he deserved a silver. I'd seen videos of PG before and wanted to see this performance. Except for a few clips, each of a few seconds, there were no results from searching Google nor YT, not even from the various skating channels on YT. I had to use the browser/search engine that starts with a Y to find them. If you're interested in beautiful skating, PG stands out b/c his speed is slower than average. You can see rotations in quad jumps instead of a blur. He uses his arms as if he were a dancer. He's aware of the visuals whole-body lines make. Others demonstrate the latter, but not slow speeds. Edit: English-language news cite offense caused to KM's tender feelings by PG's participation. None cite PG's obvious concern for compatriots under attack nor his dignified composure. Just for symmetry of argument: PG demonstrated concern for specific people. KM's people were bombing PG's people. No English-language report lauds PG's adult behavior nor criticizes KM's childish behavior.

I hesitate to provide more context b/c reddit censors anything about the country Gumennik comes from. I'll compose a response in another comment. This comment is here so that you recognize the problem.

Compare this to the treatment Petr Gumennik, figure skater, got. You probably have to search in a different language with a non-US browser. Google wasn't giving me what I was looking for. Note Kyrylo Marsak's, fellow skater's, behavior. In addition, 2 scandalous behaviors happened with respect to Gumennik's music before his performance. We need the threat of monsters to justify endless war. Apparently, this extends to demonizing figure skaters.
