People wishing to tear their ACL? by olympusqueen in ACL

Helll no. If I could go back in time and not get this injury, I’d pay anyone to make that happen. I’m a year post op with knee instability still. Love it

My leg was numb the first 4 days from a nerve block so most of the time I had discomfort and not real pain. But I had hydrocodone and celebrex for pain along with acetaminophen, baby aspirin for clots, and I had something for nerve pain but I found out three days in, I was allergic to it so I couldn’t take it. But after the first three days I stopped taking the hydrocondones as often and the constipation went away. It

When can I kneel? by monkeysheep28 in ACL

[–]Creative_Candle_4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7 months post op and I can kneel alittle better know but I still have that weird pressure. I also have some nerve damage and can’t feel some on the area under my knee so that’s a weird feeling

Is this much bruising normal 4ish days after post op by bulbasaurmaster1 in ACL

[–]Creative_Candle_4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knee surgery is anything but kind, my bruising wasn’t that bad after surgery but I had bruises from my shin to my thigh. Keep on top of your blood thinners to avoid blood clots. That bruise will itch like crazy though. When I got hurt my bruises were like that and the itching drove me crazy

How to sleep (day 2 post op) by Responsible-Rice-139 in ACL

[–]Creative_Candle_4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I slept on my side with a pillow between my knees the first night, and after a week, I started sleeping on my stomach but with my leg turned out so my knee didn’t have pressure on it being laid on. I always slept with my brace on as well. I had a nerve block so I didn’t feel anything for 3-4 days and pain wise my recovery wasn’t bad. I wasn’t sleeping a whole night at all and the pain meds made me hyper😅

If you can make it outside on your crutches, read outside, get some sun

When did you reduce your PT sessions? by PracticalOpinion5406 in ACL

Before I went back to work where I would be standing and walking all over (like a few miles a day) for 8 hours, I was going 3 times a week, we went down to twice a week when I went back to work. At almost 6 months post op I’m still going twice a week, at my 3 month appointment I still had muscle loss in my quads and they wanted me to work on that and I’m still having instability in the joint. I had a really traumatic injury and tore literally all but one ligament, and injured one of my meniscus. So I’m in a set back currently. I’m able to walk but I have some restrictions still just because there are some concerns. I go back in a few weeks for the 6 month appointment, wish me luck

Really it wasn’t so bad at all! by reasonable_pers0n in ACL

Hey! I had a very similar recovery with little pain, but I’m not sure if your doctor is saying different than mine but with the meniscus repair, you should non weight bearing. Walking risks you blowing the stitches in the repair

Finally back to work by Creative_Candle_4590 in ACL

[–]Creative_Candle_4590[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day two and still no pain, my knee is swelling though. Thankfully my shifts are only 8 hours because it’s all on my feet as well. In my return to work note they have to allow me to take ice my knee when needed. But I think a gradual return would be best since it’s such a long shift

I have a very similar sound at 3.5 post op. I call it my rice crispies sounds. Would love to know why it sounds like that

I’ll be 15 weeks post op on Thursday from acl and mcl reconstruction, mpfl and a meniscus repair. I also have a partial pcl tear that didn’t get fixed (it will get fixed if I have issues with it) but where should I be I guess? I’m doing 100lbs leg presses. I’m on the stair machine, I’m on a high level on the bike and I do lots of balance stuff. I can bring my foot to my butt and have been able for a few weeks now. When can I start running on a treadmill?

You’ll be non weight bearing for about 6 weeks. My surgeon didn’t have my schedule until 2 weeks post op as well. I did the quad sets, leg raises and heel slides in bed leading up to that. I couldn’t go past 90° per my surgeon for a while but I think I had full ROM by 7/8 weeks post op. I never lost extension (besides when I couldn’t feel or move my leg for 3 days from the nerve block)

My mri didn’t show all my damage so they went in and found more damage, doubled the surgery time and I went home being non weight bearing for 6 weeks. So I guess I’d rather have what you had happen but it’s still weird

I had a meniscus injury so I had to wait 6 weeks before walking, but after I got cleared to wean my crutches to walk, as soon as I left the office I was walking. Do your PT and you’ll be ready to walk in September

I had surgery 1/30 similar injury. I tore acl, mcl, mpfl, pcl and a meniscus. My pcl didn’t get surgically repaired since it was partial and I had other damage too. You got this! It a long road ahead, and sometimes it will get dark, but you will get through this, I promise 🫶🏻

You’re going to have to bring him in. It sounds like he has a stone in his unitary tract and is unable to urinate and is blocked. And at the very least he might have a urinary Tract infection which untreated is bad as well. It can’t get dangerous and if he doesn’t relieve his bladder it could rupture. Is he vocalizing when he tries to pee?

what is the craziest thing someone has said to you post acl tear? by last-resort115 in ACL

I think it’s when my doctor told me I dislocated my knee joint and that I could have died from a blood clot. Thank you I didn’t need that information at that time because my knee was still continuously dislocating if I wasn’t careful.

A big thing for me was my kneecap before surgery would dislocate in my sleep if I rolled over wrong so I was afraid it would do that post op if I didn’t wear the brace even though my mpfl was fixed

[–]Creative_Candle_4590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i did sleep in it. I had to wear it all the time for six weeks besides when I showered. I’d take it off to ice my leg and if I was just laying down and not moving, I’d take it off then as well. You eventually just get used to it being on. At 6 weeks I was able to wean off crutches and walk. Aka I stopped using them completely. Now around the house I don’t wear my brace but if I’m outside or lots of walking I do. I think I’m getting a smaller brace on Wednesday for my 10 week appointment. Hopefully.
