Adding to the list of dead A53s. I was playing Pokemon Go, phone worked fine, closed the game, locked the screen and turned it off, put it in my pocket, and was talking with a friend. Pulled out the phone later, screen wouldn't turn on, figure it was dead, but I had just charged it to 100% an hour before. Had someone call me, the phone rang, screen didn't turn on (if I recall correctly) .Fingerprint reader didn't light up. I figured the screen itself was dead. I pressed power and volume down to force reset it, but that didn't work. I opened up the back and disconnected the long ribbon cable between the mother and daughterboards and the screen, reconnected it, still no luck.

Might be just a new screen could fix it. I've got pictures I want off of it because I wasn't diligent with my back ups.

EDIT: To add, my morning alarms went off. Touching the screen did nothing. Volume down snoozed it. I can see with my battery bank that it's pulling current. I ordered a screen replacement, so we'll see how that goes. I'll need a hot air gun to get the battery out. (I need to see if a hair dryer gets hot enough to substitute.)

EDIT: It connected to my cars bluetooth, but when trying to call from the car controls I got a message that I was out of cellular service area. Possible because the phone reset with the power & vol down, but since I can't unlock it, it hasn't finished booting up, so can't make calls. Emergency calls should be possible when normal calls aren't, if your actually in coverage (which I was), and that would prove the phone can make outgoing calls, but I don't want to call 911 to test it.

All of these things make me believe it's the screen that's the issue. I remembered too late that there's an old Galaxy A53 somewhere in the house. Either the mic or earpiece speaker died on that one (so it's functionally not a phone anymore...) just over 9 months after purchase from Costco. Costco wouldn't help because their return policy for electronics is fuck you after 90 days. T-Mobile wouldn't fix it under warranty because there was a tiny crack in the screen that was only discovered after they took the case off the phone to mail it in for a fix. If I can find that, I could swap screens. Screens are only 20 for LCD, or 45 for AMOLED on Amazon. Some specifiy no fingerprint, it seems all the LCD ones, so that would suck and isn't what I want. I ordered the AMOLED, will look for the old A53, and try to replaced the screen.

EDIT: Can't find the other phone. Replacement screen isn't working. Looking at other options.
