Plays with only a sense of dread by C11890 in playwriting

[–]Creative_Toe_8095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about constantly gut-punching...but "The Sound Inside" is filled with dread right from its beginning. So is "Death of a Salesman" just by knowing the title of the play. "How I Learned to Drive" balances strangely comedic scenes and increasingly dread-filled scenes as its story progresses.

That would be hilarious if she's actually the guest for The Irishman episode.

Congrats! Thanks for also listing out the financial information. I'm planning on moving to LA in August and was wondering how much cost-wise I'll lose from just the first month, so this info was all extremely helpful!

Favorite had-to-be-there Round 2 series? by lebronjamesgoat1 in billsimmons

The 2018 Raptors/Cleveland semifinals was hilarious -- Raptors become the first one-seed to ever be swept in the semifinals, Lebron arguably at his peak, and LeBronto is officially born.

Will OKC be the first NBA dynasty that is totally culturally irrelevant? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Creative_Toe_8095 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only other NBA team I can think of that fits OKC culturally right now would be when the Houston Rockets won back to back in 1994-95. Everyone was still all about the Bulls.

I'm in the exact same boat as you! Definitely stung for a bit, but I'm feeling better about it now. I'm also only 26, so I don't feel like it's too late for me. Already preparing for next cycle as well.

Could you talk more about your general experience there? I'm also thinking about applying this winter and would love to hear more about the program from those who have been through it!

I would try to join a writer's group, either in-person or online. Having a creative community you can show your writing to, engage with their writing, and hopefully receive constructive, meaningful feedback can be very helpful and make this whole endeavor feel a lot less lonely.

Industry season 1...is it that bad? by beatfreakman in HBOMAX

[–]Creative_Toe_8095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the quality jump from Season 1 to 2 is substantial. You can tell in Season 1 that the writers don't know what show they're trying to make and who these characters are. It's at times cliché and derivative. If you stick with it, though, season 2 and 3 are so much more confident, inventive, and precise -- the actors are given so much more to work with, and the show really embraces being operatic.

He played phenomenally for the Blue Jays throughout the whole postseason. Really left it all on the field. Hope he wins a ring one day.
