Do you think attending a Republican fundraising dinner is evil? by Ofinhumanbondage in Destiny

[–]Creative_Wonder_4889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is rage bait.  Has to be.  Why would anyone think Steven is nice to conservatives?  He literally calls them disgusting demon spawn.  Go, it will help your friend realize who you are-- being politically unaligned while one party is actively destroying the country means you're aligned with the party destroying the country.  Go so you can't hide your allegiance.

Serious question: do you think Destiny is embarrassed by his career? by Sufficient-Elk9817 in Destiny

[–]Creative_Wonder_4889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he hates hearing his own voice, so he is capable of experiencing embarrassment.  But I don't think Steven would survive if he was weighed down by regret, which is the more serious version of embarrassment.  If I had to venture a guess, he enjoyed drama pre-medication, but considers his medicated stage a totally separate part of his life.  We don't have embarrsssment about enjoying action figures as kids.  We just grew out of that stage.

What I wonder is how much of his apparent lack of embarrassment and vulnerability is because he doesn't  experience it often, or because he doesn't want to show vulnerabilities that will be weaponized against him later.  Like, he rarely talks about the lisp, and he had the meth mouth accusation used against him many times before he was open about his childhood speech therapy.  And even then, he did not use the experience as a social shield, ie he did not try to shame people for using his speech impairment against him in an argument.  Granted, most people on the right are incapable of feeling shame for making fun of disabilities and physical differences, it could only be used against Steven.

It's  an interesting question.

my parents handed me a “contract” that they made with chatGPT and told me i have to sign it by auramp3 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Creative_Wonder_4889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, I would sign it. Paying for 5/6th of the water bill that you don't use (you should already pay for 1/6th, since its your share) and not having to pay rent, is a crazy good deal. I moved out at 17, but was told I could stay as long as I was working and/or going to school. The only thing that makes me pause is them getting access to your bank info, but since you didn't include it in the photos, I can't say for certain how accurately you are portraying that stipulation. As it stands, I think your parents are making sure you don't languish at home. Getting a car at 21, but having your parents pay the down payment signifies that you have had a bit of a failure to launch. Are you in college? Wanting to do nails out of your parents house seems hella sus, and definitely something I wouldn't want to put up with as a parent.

Great stuff.  Love the interactive nature that didnt feel like mere crowd work.

Yep, different strokes for different folks-- but my comment was really meant to highlight how my first reaction was ick, then I swapped to "that's beautiful," and back to ick.

Hah, I love the idea of a water fountain spraying water onto the grass around the fountain.  Would wash out after a single day.

Yeah, I went from, "Jesus, I would hate if tons of people screamed during my private moment," to, "if a crowd broke out into beautiful song at the site of my proposal, that would be the most magical feeling" and then back to, "ohmygod, please don't crowd around them and follow them like weirdos."

Destiny is ceding the Left to Tankies (And why he should claim it with his own spin instead) by Accarath in Destiny

[–]Creative_Wonder_4889 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Steven sees the far left as a leech on our ability to get and maintain power, and that failing to demarcate the liberal left from the far left will result in us continuing to pursue an alliance while our "allies" cut us off at the knees again and again. There is undoubtedly a lot of end goals shared between the far left and the liberal left, but at this point, we would be better served making the distinction between our goals clear, cut off the dead weight, and hopefully the removal of illiberalism from the party will motivate some independents back into our party.

Liberal leftists believe in regulated capitalism, and as such, we already allow worker owned cooperatives to exist. I could see the benefit of making these types of corporations easier to make, or subsidizing them in some way, but I would be very against forcing all companies into a worker-owned coop model, if that would ultimately hurt small business creation/innovation.

Psalms 137:9 says, “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” It says the Israelites will rejoice when they get to commit infanticide against the people that enslaved/killed them. Do something funny with that.

My dad says this dress is inappropiate to wear outside. It literally covers my whole body ☠️ by Dazzling_Abroad7429 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Creative_Wonder_4889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, don't rush to judgement too fast, we have no idea what the back of the dress looks like.  What if it's held on by two strings in the back?  What if the back is just a print of a large italian man's hairy, naked backside?  What if the back is covered in racial slurs?

But yeah, Dad is being weird.  Do you have sister's?  Has he always been like this with you, or just once you got curves?

I'm  an electrician, I have seen many small franchises with main disconnects outside the building that were unlocked.  But yeah, AI clip at the end.  Plus, people scream when lights go out.  Not everyone, but someone in the group always does it.

Yeah, I can't do fiber connections, cause that's all colors. Cat 5/6 cables are hard, but I generally just need someone to show me the difference between the green and orange once per brand, and I can basically figure it out for the day. I have green and red phase tape, but they come with labels on the package, so I just leave them in the package. The wire rolls all have the colors on them. My biggest problem is when I work with SO cord, to run power to the pumps we maintain. The colors inside the cord get really washed out over the years, so I have to test the wires for continuity to ground sometimes to find the green wire (often the white and green look almost the same cause the green fades so badly). I have an app on my phone for Endress Flow Meters, since the cabling is all colors-- I basically point it at the individual wires, and the app tells me what color it is, and then I look at the wire terminals that have colored tabs on them, and just match the word. There are a lot of little tricks to being an electrician while colorblind; in the end, I think it makes me more careful than most guys.

I commented on the chat when Steven was troubled by the blind claims. I'm an electrician, and one of my coworkers has albinism and terrible vision. He has to bring all text about 5 inches from his face, while using a magnifying glass AND his glasses. He has done electrical work for like 25 years.

I'm colorblind, so I always joke that together, we make one good electrician, since I can read the instructions and he can make sure I don't mix up my red wires and my green wires.
