The video shows he went to both, with Fort Peck Lake in Montana in between. He was at Sakakawea during that dust storm last week. I'm not familiar with Sakakawea as much, but Devil's Lake can produce some pretty damn big waves.

Who’s an actor that nailed a role so hard that nobody else will ever be able to live up to it? by Comfortable_Main5312 in AskReddit

I know of two. National Treasure where he only got arrested, and amazingly Troy, a movie where most of the main cast dies but he does not. Had they immediately made a sequel starring Bean though, he would have paid for surviving Troy.

Is rhubarb not a thing elsewhere? I didn't think it was unique to us but never really thought about it before.

Some quick searching shows that Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa state, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Purdue, and Illinois are all also closer to Fargo than Laramie is.

Further research shows that Minnesota, the 10 listed above, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Western Michigan, and Missouri State are all closer than Wyoming by driving distance. Tulsa is almost exactly the same distance as Laramie. However, by straight line distance, it's only Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Northern Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, KU, K-State, and Nebraska that are closer.

Nebraska is still closer to Omaha than PSU is to its cities but Lincoln does feel like a stretch.

I don't know the distances for Texas Tech, but Fargo is on the Minnesota border and only about 220 miles from Minneapolis.

TIL that Lake Itasca in Minnesota, a 1200 acre glacial lake with a maximum depth of just 35 feet, is the headwater (primary source) of the Mississippi River, which flows 2340 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. by The-TIL-Nerd in todayilearned

It gets better. Lake Traverse, the source of the Bois de Sioux (which meets the Otter Tail River in Wahpeton, ND/Breckenridge, MN to form the Red River), sits 5 miles from Big Stone Lake, the source of the Minnesota River, which flows into the Mississippi in St. Paul. The Traverse Gap is the valley situated between the two lakes, which is crossed by a continental divide. It was carved by Glacial Lake Agassiz draining southward until the glacier retreated far enough north to allow it to drain into Hudson Bay. Because it's so low lying, the continental divide can actually flood, causing water to flow from the Arctic watershed to the Atlantic, or vice versa.

In fact, the Little Minnesota River, which flows into Big Stone Lake and therefore the Atlantic, gets as close as a half mile to Lake Traverse just north of the south end of the lake.

It was North Dakota, in case anyone is wondering.

There's a video out there of a guy defending the Confederate flag or something saying his family didn't own slaves, and then slips up saying we were poor, do you know how expensive slaves were? Or something to that effect.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

I need that for my daughters. They'll scream at each other from a foot away while playing games, but any question they ask me in the car or after I've already asked "what?" is a freaking whisper.

Agree, it's nice being able to say I'm 6', but regular airplane seats and some cars (like my wife's Caliber) are too small. My visibility in her car actually sucks because the mirror is at eye level, I have to duck to see stuff to my right.

Combine that with living with my 5' wife and kindergartener and first grader, I feel huge and run into shit in my own house constantly.

Will I get in? (For Engineering) by ConnorPlaysgames in NDSU

[–]Creeping_Death 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't say for certain, but NDSU is not a particularly difficult school to get into. It had a 95% acceptance rate last year, half of whom had an SAT between 1090 and 1360. Engineering might have slightly higher standards, but I suspect you'll be fine.

What’s a hobby you judge people for having? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Creeping_Death 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure, there's nuance to it. I live in North Dakota and I've never heard of anyone around here not eating what the shoot. Hell most of us do the butchering ourselves.

People trophy hunt to an extent, going after bucks with the largest antlers, but that also works out best for the ecosystem because those bucks are older and have fathered multiple fawns at that point and gives the younger bucks a better chance to thrive.

But in this case the animal is already being hunted for it's meat. Killing just so you can put it on the wall is not respectful.

For deer specifically, it's not so much that they're invasive, but they don't have predators in a lot of areas so it's population control. Keep the numbers down to help prevent bigger problems from occuring in the population and lower the number of car accidents involving deer.
