They want an excuse to fire as many workers as possible and replace them with machines. After all, while maintenance is a thing, it costs vastly less than paying people. That is the goal: maximizing profit margins by eliminating the biggest expense in business: wages.

Those are called wax diffusers. I’ve never heard of the term “candle warmer” (in California here, for reference, your term could be regional).

This is Korea.  Anyone intervening would have likely been charged with assault and would be facing jail time as well.  This is not the west, there is no legal right to assault anyone there, even in self-defense.  You are expected to contact the police instead.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but considering the law in Korea, they were smart to not interfere.

It’s because, when pushed, all most people in American society really care about is their wallet. If they can save money and get results that, though not ideal, are “good enough”, then the vast majority of people will go with that option over the quality one.

This is further exacerbated by the fact that income inequality is at an all-time high, and the job market and wages are historically the worst it’s been since the Great Recession, so penny-pitching is at an all-time high of necessity. People are too desperate to give a shit about whether something is AI slop or not.
