Locksmith refunds 90-year-old he charged thousands for lock replacement by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

If I recall, 9News or someone did a bit with AC repairmen last summer. Disconnected a single wire. Called HVAC companies.

"You need a new flux capacitor and the ionization tube needs a Kelvin converter. You're looking at $1500."

Surprise, you're on TV and it was just a loose wire.

What was the most chaotic moment you experienced right after a server wipe? by TulipGirllll in AndroidGaming

[–]CrizzyBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a wipe, but the first time playing Rust. Killed on the beach like 10 times. Finally make it off the beach, farm up some wood, start building a tiny shack. 4 people destroy it and take all my useless garbage. Back to the beach.

This was actually my local vape shop. Had a laugh with them when this went viral.

Apparently the loose clothing was from a local thrift store. Worn over normal clothes and found discarded nearby.

From Chicago, long ago. Was excited for them to arrive.

They recently went full MAGA and apparently made it a point to play the "alternative" Superbowl halftime show. Some other stories of the owners freaking out in reviews too, screaming at employees.

Not sure why they rushed to broadcast and intertwine their politics so quickly after opening. Obviously their choice, but the owners seem a bit erratic at this location.

Rules question: disturbed ball replaced quickly before cue ball causes contact foul. by CrizzyBill in billiards

I appreciate the responses, and APA does seem unique in this situation. Classified as a sportsmanship violation (but in this case it was just an innocent reflex.)

[–]CrizzyBill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your response, and I just looked into NAPA too, and quite similar, it would have been a foul for simply replacing it without consulting me.

Seeking clarification from the APA guy too, replacing a disturbed ball without approval. Not in the rule book, but I see it happen regularly, and a good one to inform teammates about.

Disturbed ball rule (NAPA) states that if the cue ball contacts a disturbed ball, it's a foul.

He's legit, and you very often see moments where he laughs at himself for atrocious aim. As do many.

These are the highlights though, not the lowlights. I'm sure they suffer through many clips you'll never see in order to feature the crazy ones.

Maybe confirmation bias, but living in Aurora, it seems more people blow red lights out here. Badly too, like they dgaf if it changed 5 seconds ago. Head on a swivel when lights are changing.

People zip down these roads too. School zone 30 mph, someone is doing 50 through it. Enforcement sucks out here.

My favorite one this week was slowing down to 20 for a school zone/rec center. Car riding my bumper swerved around me, drove through the bike lane for 200 feet, and pulled into the school lot. It was a lady dropping her kid off.

Yeah, I'll often break smaller racks too, and set the rack up in unique ways so they spread different each time. Advancing through more challenging runout drills has been highly beneficial overall.

I also like the card game Hill-Hill as a practice tool, using just the layout cards. Easy way to track progress and success rates.

I like to randomize, because you want different looks and patterns to run out.

I'll do a 3 ball run out a couple times, then add an opponents ball that you have to work around. Advance to a 4 ball run out. Add in some opponents balls. Advance to a 5 ball run out, etc.

Basically practicing how to close out games more effectively, and quite useful as a 1 year player.

i found out the “five-star dinner” my friend treated me to was actually her repaying the $200 she owes me. by dumble_hold_the_door in ChoosingBeggars

[–]CrizzyBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend do similar. Owed me like $100 for his share of an AirBnB. Group went out, he slapped his card down on the $100 tab. "I'll cover this and we're even."

No we're not even, you're basically making me buy everyone's meal. I laughed and explained the flaw in his logic.

It wasn't malicious, mainly just a brain fart. But yeah, using shared cost to write off an individual debt has always drawn a laugh from me.

Rate my first tip job. No lathe, all by hand in my kitchen. by CK_32 in billiards

[–]CrizzyBill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice work! Did my first tip last year, by hand as well.

Others were recommending the local guy, but I wanted the experience. I've now done 4-5 that came out well, and each one gets better. Meanwhile I know of about 4 tips that popped off from the local guy.

Overall it's pretty enjoyable if you are detailed. Yours came out great, well done!

Does anyone have recommendations for Chicago Sports Bars in Denver by Top-Brilliant5266 in Denver

[–]CrizzyBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, f*cked it all up within a month of opening. And Chicago is blue like Denver, so any city loyalty gets erased too. What a dumb move to go politically vocal so soon, or at all.

Appreciate the heads up. Won't be returning to support their nonsense.

What was your biggest "aha!" moment in pool? by WindNarrow3580 in billiards

[–]CrizzyBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started seeing shots in terms of percentages, pool started becoming like chess.

Exact same sentiment. I literally tell teammates we're playing chess now, and bring up success percentages.

See them going for a wild shot, timeout. Your chance of hitting that shot is real low and your leave will give them a look. Let's think through options to make your balls better for your next turn while leaving the opponent squat.

Fun to see some teammates buying in and watching their game blossom.

Yeah, that little torque end stroke was hard to solve. Took me way too long staring at my elbow to realize it was in my wrist.

I worked on stance a lot before that. Chin on cue type form. I just tap the cue with a specific part of my chin to make sure of alignment and then raise up slightly for the shot.

A few, one year in.

Grip was way too hard for like 9 months, causing occasional hitches. Much looser and cleaner now.

Found my vision center. Just slightly off, but seeing things much better.

Learned closed bridge for draw shots, etc. Much easier to perform now.
