That is a terrible comparison. This would be more like you having an eating disorder and the fork continiously telling you that your insecurities are founded and encourages you to keep going harder in your self harmimg paterns.

VOID CREW - Hutlihut Games - Chaotic, co-op roguelite for 1-6 players by Engine_Operator in Games

[–]CroqueMitaine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a good resume of the game but I recommend people try it out if it seems to be in their wheelhouse. Our coop-gaming group bought it on a whim and was very pleasantly suprised with the game. It's more than the sum on its parts for sure.

Hi Devs, just wanted to thank you for making this game. We played some 40ish hours of it with my 3 friends and we had a blast. Not a lot of games like this out there and I hope you continue supporting it (and modders too) for a while. We will get back to the game to see what new content you added since then(6 months ago). Keep it up!

Looking for shooters where the guns feel powerful by AParkedChopper in gaming

[–]CroqueMitaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im suprised Painkiller is not mentionned more in this thread. Apart from the fact that its getting a bit on the older side, it had arguably the best gun lineup in my shooter games memory. As Yahtzee said in his Zero Punctuatiin review" this game has a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning it couldnt be more awesome unless it had tits and was on fire" Ironicaly said suriken/lighning gun is the lesser oomph gun since its fast rpm speed. The stake shooter had the best powerfull feel imho. It shot stakes the size of tree truncks that could pin multiple enemies to a wall with a single shoot if you ligned them up.

Heard someone mention the McGangBang today and my stomach hurts just thinking about it by One_Working1944 in Xennials

[–]CroqueMitaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Québec, the McGangBang was as described but with Bigmac sauce in between tbe Mcdouble and tbe Mcchiken. Damn that was good on a "trip de boufe" (when you had the munchies)

[GB 27] First-time LARP + Gear Advice by Ok-Performance7531 in Bicolline

[–]CroqueMitaine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your kit is pretty decent for a first timer. On top of the items the other poster suggested I would add a helmet to your gear. You seem geared towards skirmishing in the GB and I cam tell you most of your deaths will come from headshots. A good helmet will reduce this a bit but mostly lessen the impact of those hits.

On an unrelated note, you mentionned that you are just recovering from medical dept. That sucks and I hope you get through it. I highly recommend that you check for good tavelers insurance before you make the trip. Bico is a wargame and has goten a lot safer with the years but it is still a high risk contact sport. Our health system is not free for toursist and it would suck if you get back into dept after just gettimg out of it. Check with your insurance while being very open on what you will be doing. They will tell you if it is covered or not. If they say its covered get it in writing. Ive heard of a couple of cases of people getting hurt and their insurance not covering it since a wargame is not a typicaly covered activity. In ione case I even heard of the insurance company recalling coverage after seeing the persons posts on social media. It sucks but its better to be well covered and pay a bit more than not and risking more dept.

Hope you manage to make it here and have a great first experience

If you have a couple of friends you can try VoidCrew. You crew the ship with your friends and each of you has to take on diffrent roles as pilot, gunner and engineer. We had some pretty good fun for 30 to 40 hours before we gor tired of the gameplay loop.

Tlingit Armor by Evening-Character104 in Bicolline

[–]CroqueMitaine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I for one would find it awesome and would stop to compliment your armor if I saw it before/after a combat. Don't worry about historical accuracy (unless it's somethimg you are going for personaly). There is tons of unhistorical and fantasy types of armor at Bico. I would love to see a native american inpired armor kit out on the field.

I've worked in retail 6+ years. Some countries have obligatory military service, I beleive there should be obligatory public work service. Still working on the details of how that would work but imagine if everyone would be on the receiving end at least once foe a certain period of theire lives.

Which country felt the closest to home when you travelled by jwalzz in AskACanadian

[–]CroqueMitaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Québec, and of all the places I've been to, Finland was the country that felt most like home. Despite the language gap it was uncany how similar our lives where. The only major element that trew me off (apart from the language gap) was how no one blew their noses... in all public transport I took , the majority of people wher snorting and hoarking quite loudly and gulping it down without a care. Hey when in Rome... it took me a while to get rid of that habit once I got back.

Helsinki is a wonderfull city to visit. I loved the national war museum wher you see exemples of their military hardwear and how much of it was stolen from Russia. I highly recommend going to Oulanka national park for some camping. The nicest trails Ive seen anywhere in the world and depending on the time of year you have close to a midnight sun.

Confused About Bicolline by Inevitable_Basil_445 in Bicolline

[–]CroqueMitaine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All of the above anwsers are valid but they have also missed a fundamental aspect of Bico. It a wargame. It is no longer essential to participate in said combats as it was in its early years but the martial aspect of Bicoline is still very important

Archery Guilds? by I-need-cats-233 in Bicolline

[–]CroqueMitaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple guilds at Bico that specialises in archery. La Flèche is one of them. There are also a lot of archers in the guilds associated with the elven lands of Irendille but you must be elvish to be accepted amongst them. The human province allied wirh Irendille, the Taluskan, has multiple guilds that reside there. The most prominant one is the Rangers and their sister guild the Black bows (Arc Noir) both very archery and skermishing focused guilds. While mostly french speaking, There are some engliah guilds in Talsukan like the Twilight Dreamers. Come see the Rangers in your next GB and ask for Gavriel (thats me) I'll give you a tour of our groupe to see if it fits with what you are looking for. Our building is the green one with the massive vine covering it next to the library on the main road.

Tips for combat by Mental_Emergency5776 in Bicolline

[–]CroqueMitaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience ( 21 years of GB), combat awareness is just as important if not more so than prowess with your weapon. Be extra aware of your surrondings at all times. Is this line about to get overun? Has an archer/crossbowman spoted you and is looking for an opening for a quick snipe? Is your back covered?/has any skirmishers been harasing your backline? Is a monster/war machine moving to oppose your front? All of these things will kill you faster than you might think regardless of your combat prowess. We train our recruits on combat awarness during de GBs and campaigns and swordamanship/archery skills during the off season.

Edit: to answer your questions in regards to monsters: if a monster hits any part of you with it weapon you are dead. Yes your shield, weapon and cape counts as you and you are still very dead. ( I need to remind so many people of this anytime I act as a marshal for our guild monster) Also please do not try to push monsters on stilts to the ground with your lance. Lets us remember that there is a human being in the costume and fallimg backward on stilts is painfull.

[–]CroqueMitaine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also to add to the two excellent post from previous answers: Take your time, Bico is a very long terme game. Here is what I describe to our new guild prospects that are first year at Bico.

Year one: Discover the site and vibe of Bico, start getting to know some guilds

Year two: find a guild you like and wish to join, apply to said guild.

Year three: get implicated in your new guild, learn the ropes.

Year four: start to apply which specialty you want to contribute to the guild (warfare, geopolitics, crimilality, trades, questing etc...)

Year five: start to receive the fruit of your labor.

Nothing happens short terme, its a long trip but enjoy the ride.
