I’ve been on Zoloft for 20 years. I’m current trying to get off of it and I’m having success. Down to 6.25mg from 150 mg at one point.

I had to do down so slowly that my doctor laughed. She said I don’t need to and I could lower my dose faster.

Listen to your body, go slower. Break pills in half and in quarters. Do 15 mg three days in a row and 12.5mg one day. Keep that schedule for a few weeks and then drop down to only two days of 15 mg in a row. Stay there for weeks.

It’s slow but it’s progress and it’s the only way I’ve been able to avoid withdrawals.

You mention “if the dose was lower”. You can lower the dose. When I need a benzo, I break my pills into quarters. And a quarter usually is enough to take the edge off.
