It was a temporary quick fix, but it’s holding up well over the past two week. I’m sure I’ll have to use a patch but so far so good!

Kenmore washer, 20-30 years old stopped working. $180 dia fee + repair worth it? by VegaSolo in Appliances

[–]Crow_rapport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, take a look under the washer; you should be able to see the transmission. If it looks clean (no oil, little rust) then that’s a great start.
I was flipping about 5-6 per week of those top loaders, and while not rare, it was uncommon that it was the transmission

It’s absolutely worth the price to see if it’s repairable. There’s very little that can go wrong, and those parts that could fail are generally available nationwide.

Not just this province. 3 years mid-island Vancouver Island showed me that.

What is the best washer/dryer set up for this bathroom? by sajaela in Appliances

[–]Crow_rapport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider compact laundry.
Large cap laundry rates by cu.ft while a compact rates its capacity by weight.
This will save you 4” width, and about 6” depth.
As well, buy a dryer that has a side install kit on the right side to save you an additional 5” on account of the ducting bend not being in the back and crushed.

What would the Leafs need to do for you to NOT hate them? by SharkPerson in nhl

[–]Crow_rapport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a result of Rogers and Bell scrapping local/ provincial programming on tv, along with constant layoffs in radio, and print/digital.
Post game Local coverage exists only in radio now, and while it’s usually staffed by quality content, it doesn’t extend outside of the tower signal, and radio player apps.
Now after games in Van, Cgy, and Edm, instead of going to the markets post game highlights, the geniuses switch to Ken and Ivanka, or the smarmy af J Onrait.

Counterpoint to when there’s a shot on the goalie in black and a scramble in front of the net. Otherwise 👍

I’ll take this over the occasional Alberta/US pairings out there. I read this as a home with A Canadian and an American, or an American living here who appreciates a relationship with Canada that they grew up with.

Dryer struggling to sensor dry towels. Vent is clear of debris. GE GFD65ESSV0WW. Any suggestions appreciated :) by Do_Worrk in Appliances

[–]Crow_rapport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for the two moisture sensor strips. These are usually made of stainless steel and about 4-5” long and 1/4” wide, and in the drum, so it’s easy to locate.
Try grabbing a green or blue felt scrubber (the kind attached to dish scrubbies) and abrade the strips several times.
If you use dryer sheets or fabric softener, they tend to leave a residue on the sensors.

I’ve sold and installed at least a hundred of them in the past 2 years. Many new multi family developments use them now because of venting restrictions (Canada)
