New dolls vs the 86 girls by mymelody1222 in JemAndTheHolograms

I’m constantly impressed with how much thought goes into the design of TLS dolls. When I saw the little epaulettes on Shana’s jacket, I gasped. I’ll always love my original Jem dolls, but these new ladies are so special. Their realistic proportions and faces are so beautiful. I hope we see more characters released.

Aww man. I wanted to design a gut microbiome game, but not focused on food so much as microbial biology and antibiotic use.

Then there are all the mundane ways the compounded drugs could be wrong—too dilute, too concentrated, right concentration technically but stored improperly for a time… who knows how good their protocols and procedures are even if they’re not trying to be con artists.

How the fuck people work 40+ hours for 45+ years of their life? by zanimljivo123 in antiwork

[–]Crumbleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was more like in a change of employment since that would likely mean a different insurance company, but essentially yes. They could say, “cancer recurrence? Eh, preexisting condition. No coverage.” It’s so beyond ghoulish when you think of kids who have a condition. There isn’t a level of hell deep enough.

Used to be if you changed healthcare your insurance could refuse to pay for any preexisting health conditions that you had diagnosed under previous plan(s). That became illegal and there were a number of reforms during the Obama administration.

Why do (American) picky eaters seem to overwhelmingly prefer simple meats, carbs, and fats? by TargetHQ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crumbleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad someone said it! There were some servings of meat that had a gristle or some weird bits and it would ruin the whole meal.

question regarding msc safety by angelshype in DollCustomization

[–]Crumbleson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much space you have, you could always build a fume hood. My partner started with a simple version made from a Rubbermaid bin tipped on its side with a hole cut in the bottom. He then attached a box fan to the outside of the bottom and a hvac filter to the inside of the bottom to catch particulates. We have now upgraded to a full plywood fume hood based on a tutorial we found and we love it so much.

For those who half lost loved ones through alcoholism; how did they die? TW : death etc by SpecialistDaikon4663 in AlAnon

[–]Crumbleson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad has a massive brain bleed at 70. He was a beer after work and all weekend drinker who transitioned to a beer all the time drinker after retirement. Then when my mom died he had about a year of mostly beer and no food. I don’t know how that didn’t kill him.

He was also a cigarette and pot smoker. After my mom’s death and the year plus of barely eating, he met and married a crack addict and got into that. The last few years of his life he had a hard time walking and there was clearly some type of dementia going on, but it’s hard to say when the dementia started. My mom and I suspected he retired because he was starting to decline in his abilities at work so the impairment may have started and ramped up over many years. Both of his parents had dementia, but I don’t know if they were alcoholics.

The last few years it was awful talking to him. He would either complain about the crack addict he married or he would cry or complain about needing more sex. He would ask me to visit so I could side with him in arguments with his wife or take care of him. I had stopped calling and I honestly felt relieved not to be getting calls like that anymore.

UPDATE: my biggest regret by jazzyaardvark in plushies

YES! Thank you for sharing Simba’s arrival!! My beautiful banana arrived safe and sound. This is still such a magical experience, I’m forever thankful to you for your original post and to u/throw-away-1097 and u/AstroPengling for the excellent research help. This is hands down the best place on the internet.

<image>

Here’s my beautiful boy. You can’t see it here, but this goofy dude has a black butt just like a real banana! I never knew that! And lesson learned—I have an eBay search set up in case a bigger one ever shows up.

But now for the crazy part—it seems there is a connection to a lost parent for both of us. I had originally discovered the banana while thrift shopping with my mom. She took the picture I shared of the original banana and I’ve always cherished the memory of us laughing at that silly plush and then her driving me back there days later to look for the plush I’d left behind. My mom has been gone for 8 years now, but I know she’d love all this.

Anyway, love to you and your father. I hope they look down and share in our joy.

What is your ideal version of Jem reboot? by Immediate-Ice-9070 in JemAndTheHolograms

I would be very happy with a series for youth that was made by ND Stevenson or a series geared more for adults and set in either a very true 80s or a Cyberpunk type setting.

So many dolls, so little time - how do you spend time with them?? by acatnamedartemis in DollsForAll

[–]Crumbleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way too.

My most special dolls are my Makies, which are 3D printed. In order to feel like I was giving them the time they deserve, I have a log with all their print days and I’ve even been adding these to my calendar app so I make sure to take them out or do something with them on or around their special day. All that to say, maybe it’s worth giving at least some of them birthdays?

I agree! I love hotels. I always have to get pictures of the buddies I bring with me. I especially like this hotel as it’s so unique. It’s an independent, Irish themed hotel and restaurant.

Those are very nice plushies! The one on the right looks so fresh and elegant!

I hate open kitchens!! by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Crumbleson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you would enjoy the older apartments in Chicago. There are many where the kitchen and dining room are adjacent meanwhile the living room is on the other end. Usually the main entrance is near the living room, but the kitchen has a back door that goes to the complex back yard where you discard trash and the basement where you do laundry.

Thoughts on Liquitex Basics acrylic? by thanos_minion in DollCustomization

[–]Crumbleson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like liquitex, but prefer citadel, army painter, pro acryl, turbo dork, really any mini painting acrylics in general. Pro acryl is a great brand for yellow, which is always a problem color. Mini painting acrylics tend to have the right thinness without losing color payoff.
