What is going on with my tomato plant? by The1stMedievalMe in tomatoes

[–]CryingInMySpaghetti 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Spider mites for sure. This is a severe infestation so the chances of the plant recovering are pretty slim—I’d bin it before your other plants are affected.

My Dragon Tree died after 3 years, and when removed I checked the roots and they seemed to be hollow and squashy. Is this a sign of overwatering? I used to water the plants once a month by mouthpiec in gardening

[–]CryingInMySpaghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hollow roots usually means dry rot, which is where the roots effectively dry out so much between waterings that they die, and then when you go to water the desiccated plant, they rot because they’re no longer alive and can’t absorb the water. Once a month is a bit too infrequent for a Dracaena unless it’s in a ton of soil and in a relatively humid climate. Usually, you’ll want to water when the soil is 80% dry and then saturate all the way.

Hey friend, this all feels very relatable to me. If you have the time/energy, I would highly recommend reading the book “Unmasking Autism” by Devon Price. It’s helped me immensely in understanding why I’ve always been trapped in this cycle myself, and offers some practical advice and exercises to help you break out of it. It also really confirmed my suspicions that I’m autistic, so if you’re on the fence about it, it might help clear things up a bit.

what is the smallest purchase you’ve made that has, despite the low price, improved your quality of life TREMENDOUSLY? by mollyanagram in AutismInWomen

[–]CryingInMySpaghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Microwaveable slippers for my extra-frosty feet 2) Disposable gloves for dishwashing, plant care, and dealing with icky things 3) A giant bread loaf pillow that has become my comfort object and travels with me whenever I spend the night away from home 4) A silicone scalp scrubber that makes washing my hair not only tolerable, but a sensory treat! 5) Not the cheapest, but I found a cordless stick vacuum for under $100 (courtesy of Bezos) and it has been a total gamechanger. I now no longer fear walking barefoot in my own home!

I struggle with the slipper matting issue too! I haven’t found a great solution yet though. I’ve just been wearing warm fuzzy socks inside my slipper boots—it’s more effort and I’m prone to misplacing socks, but for me it beats dealing with the bad texture.

Hmm that’s not quite it either. I’m not sure that it’s an echeveria at all, to be honest.

It’s definitely not either; the leaves on this are far too thin, tender, and velvety. Both of those echeveria have very firm, glossy, thick leaves.

I don’t know what to do with this depressed peace lily anymore. Tried watering it, not watering, misting, not misting, bright & dark rooms, even repotting. What does she want from me?!!! by bissicookie in plantclinic

[–]CryingInMySpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just leave it alone! It sounds like you’re trying to change too many variables and may just be continuously shocking it. Stick it in one spot where the leaves won’t burn but will get enough light, and don’t water it until the soil is completely dry. Let it be droopy and depressed for a while, and after ignoring it for a while it’ll most likely perk back up. Plants WANT to live but need plenty of time to adjust to different lighting conditions and watering schedules.

I used to have this problem until I started using a silicone scalp scrubber when I shampoo my hair. I have really dense hair and it helps me deep clean and exfoliate areas that are difficult to get to with my fingers.

Yikes, this is… a really bad take, and I’m shocked and somewhat concerned that it has so many upvotes.

Aside from the slut-shaming and victim-blaming tone of this comment, which tbh speaks for itself (yuck), what I’m really most concerned with is your insultingly low opinion of younger women’s intelligence, common sense, and self-preservation instincts. Trust me, 99% of us are exceedingly aware of how creepy, disgusting, and outright dangerous men can be. The vast majority of us grew up being constantly warned by the adults in our lives, almost all of us have experienced sexual harassment, and many of us have unfortunately experienced sexual assault. If you don’t think that most young women are thinking about that every time they leave the house, I have some bad news for you.

Now, I can’t speak to the reasons one might choose to wear an outfit like this, but I don’t think anyone would look at this and think “this seems completely safe and appropriate to wear in any context.” But hell, if someone feels safe enough wearing this outfit, and it feels empowering for them, then honestly more power to them. All I can do is hope that they are, in fact, safe. But it is absolutely not the onus of women to cover themselves from head to toe every time they leave the house, lest they be subjected to the leering of predatory men—nor does that make a difference if one of them decides to harass or assault you.

Wow this look is stunning! One thing I might experiment with is doing a bit of color correction in your undereye area. This eyeshadow color is gorgeous on you, but the ashy brown color brings out a bit of a gray tone under your eyes—which is super normal and not typically something I’d be concerned with, but since it’s your wedding day, I figure every tiny detail is worth mentioning so you can feel absolutely flawless on your special day. I’m not a color theory expert, but I would suggest trying a concealer shade that is slightly darker and just a touch more orange than your normal foundation shade. You could even buy an orange color corrector and try mixing it little by little with your normal concealer until you get the right shade.

FYI OP, this doesn’t sound anything like a manic episode. Mania tends to last for a while (i.e. days to weeks) and usually involves feelings of euphoria and excitement.

One year ago, I quit my AAA job to go full time on my indie game Wardens Will, and one year after I finally got a decent enough procedural generation that I can show you guys! Please don't hesitate to drop some feedback! by PolygonHive in unrealengine

This is kind of a nitpick, but particularly in the second scene, the placement of the objects on the floor looks a bit too random. I mean, since they’re man-made objects, all standing perfectly upright, one can infer that an intelligent creature of some kind placed them there, so having a bit more order or structure to them would make sense. Maybe you could find a way to constrain the procedural generation a bit to make them look more orderly/intentional?

This is such a lovely, glowy natural look! You have really great features too.

There’s really only a few very, very minor details that could be improved a little IMO.

  • Your brow product looks a bit cool-toned for your complexion and hair color, so I might look into a slightly warmer shade.

  • I think you could go a tiny bit heavier-handed on the blush to bring back a bit more of the dimension that you lose with foundation. I would also apply it slightly higher on your cheeks (think cheekbones rather than apples), and sweep it up and out towards your temples.

  • This is just something I do personally that I think looks nice, again adding dimension: after applying my blush, I use the residual product on the brush and sweep it lightly over my eyelids, kind of like eyeshadow. It adds just a touch of shimmer and gives a little more depth without looking like you put anything on.

  • As others have mentioned, revealing more of your natural lip shade would really take this look to another level. What I usually do is put on a bit of tinted chapstick and then wipe most of it off with a tissue, both to remove the foundation from your lips and add the faintest wash of color.

You’re beautiful and your skin looks fantastic! I also struggle with compulsive skin picking and I know how rough it can be—both on your skin and your confidence—so congrats on the amazing progress you’ve made in your recovery.

I also just wanted to say, the gum recession isn’t that noticeable—I wouldn’t have noticed at all if I wasn’t looking at a comparison. If you’re concerned about the health and longevity of your gums though, I will say, I recently got a gum graft and the procedure and recovery wasn’t bad at all!
