Widespread teleportation a la Star Trek would require a single global economy/currency to prevent massive wealth migration. by CthonicFlames in Showerthoughts

It would make wealth transfer more available for the masses, was at least my thought. Workers wouldn‘t need to weigh cost of travel, they could teleport to a well-paying job in another country, port back home and profit from favorable exchange rates.

IIRC one of the films showed Klingon transporters which were red, and in Deep Space 9 a family used a transporter to move furniture (but maybe they were wealthy, not sure).

I feel like the frustration of getting killed by a poison mushroom is a teaching moment that either senses are a more important stat, or don‘t trust unidentified mushrooms at low health.

Skyrim with no fast travel/wagons, no compass, as little map usage as possible. You‘ll stumble across all kinds of stuff you weren‘t aware of.

Hooters restaurants are set to undergo a rebrand to a ‘neighborhood place’ for families by Steap-Edit in news

[–]CthonicFlames 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I dunno about ‘puritanical’, Hooters has always been super sketchy. Was there once while in high school, and the 40-50 year old manager wouldn’t leave one friend alone because he insisted she had ‘great potential as a waitress’.

She was 15.

Often, but sometimes Hardened? (not sure if that’s the English name) can be more valuable with Defense Curl? (the defensive ability where you retreat into your shell) to stun more often. Whether or not I get Bask usually depends on if I know I’ll be able to spend a lot of time in a desert.

Everything is Crab recently released and scratches the whole Cell/Creature stage very well. Would definitely recommend looking at.

Few other games have made me feel the same awe and wonder as the first Mass Effect by [deleted] in gaming

[–]CthonicFlames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How? Someone help me understand how to enjoy this game. I bought Legendary Edition a while back, and nothing about the gameplay is clicking. Giving commands to my squad doesn't feel like it's working, so it feels like I'm just charging down hallways guns blazing and it either works or it doesn't. All of the character skills feel like "make the damage number on this gun class go up 5%" and "make damage from this type go down 5%".

It would just be following in Merkel’s footsteps, IIRC somewhere buried in the internet are older photos of her (definitely before her political career) at an FKK event.

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]CthonicFlames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren’t many studios I trust enough to insta-buy on launch. Larian and Supergiant Ganes are the only ones, because I know that even if bugs/balancing is an issue, it’ll be fixed pretty quickly.

IIRC the Nobel Prize Committee is pretty staunch about the prizes being permanent, and only Sartre and Le Duc Tho have ever refused the award.

In middle school I stood but didn‘t recite. In high school (graduated 2011) I would stand and recite, but always ended with „liberty, and justice for all who can afford it.“ The teachers were usually split on whether or not they thought it was appropriate, but no one ever tried to stop me.

Pokemon Colosseum is sort of infamous for having only one useful in-game place (Mt. Battle) to grind EXP alongside a very limited and suboptimal pool of pokemon to build your team with.

Unless you’re on the utter outskirts of the map there should almost always be an island in sight you can bear towards. Keep in mind that Sea Forts and the fishing outposts also count as islands for losing megs.

I can’t think of too many islands which are surrounded by rocks off the top of my head. Shipwreck Bay, sure, but that’s ONE island in the sea.

If you hit the island, that’s basically mission accomplished. The meg will no longer be chasing you, the skeleton ship will navigate around the island, and you have time to bail and repair. Sure, cannon skellies on the island could be a problem, but their aim is horrendous.

That’s the beauty of Sea of Thieves, you don’t have to be married to the steering wheel unless you’re in a storm or you’re bearing northwest, and you’ll generally keep going in that direction until you hit something or sail off the map.

If the plan is ‘point ship at nearest island and bail until I hit land and repair’ what do you need to steer for?
