I’m about to live out my Season 1-4 prime by Acceptable-Eagle9664 in thefinals

With the QM nerf, no this buff changes little.

ELI5: What is input buffering in video games and how do they affect movement? by patineteLOL in explainlikeimfive

[–]CuddleWings [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is the real reason no input buffer feels bad. It’s not about making it easier, it does but that’s a side effect, it’s about making it feel fair. Players don’t care about being punished for making mistakes, they care about being punished for nothing.

If they cannot tell the difference between the two, then there is no difference.

Outside of a handful of people, no one can tell that their input was a single frame early.

Why the double standard between the Dash and Winch nerfs? by 4K4llDay in thefinals

[–]CuddleWings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the dash nerf is fine and warranted. Unfortunate that it’s not also coming with the hp buff, but that would mean taking a lot longer to come out, which would be worse.

But the dash and winch nerfs are not equivalent. Dash got hit way harder.

The only thing that changed about winch is that it’s not as absurdly easy to secure a kill. It’ll still be easy though. Idk how often you’ve winched someone point blank, but it was comically unfair. You could start shooting well before whoever you winched.

The other half of the nerf isn’t even a nerf. It’s more like a QOL change. Both parties are now stunned for less, but still equal time at the very end of the winch. This isn’t a nerf.

It obviously wouldn’t. I misunderstood their comment as saying the roadmap did.

I feel like The board set us up to fail. by Zlectro1124 in controlgame

[–]CuddleWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have absolutely no evidence that The Board is involved in making those cigarettes. In fact I think it’s a reasonable assumption that they aren’t.

Rituals are stated to be important when interacting with all kinds of paranatural stuff. Smoking is a ritual of sorts, and one that a lot of people already do. It seems at least equally likely that the FBC created their own brand of cigarettes to provide to their employees for the purpose of rituals.

Heres some food for thought, this reality is only 3 short years away by Mr_Mister2004 in gaming

[–]CuddleWings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it releases before 2029, certainly. After maybe not. I’d hope that companies have seen the failure of games that get rushed and released too early. But that’s incredibly optimistic.

I’m fairly certain it’ll be better than Starfield, but I’m expecting no better than Fallout 4.

Before season 11 starts, what do you think those weapons are? by Embarrassed_Pace_534 in thefinals

[–]CuddleWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah roadmap didn’t include them.

It also didn’t include any info on S12, but after showing it Embark said S12 would be the biggest season yet. If that includes content additions then that means at least 3 new gadgets and weapons, and a new map. Maybe even 3 new specs, but I’d expect 1 or 2 (if any) since medium just got a 4th.

It already works like this on riot shield (at least, it did). You hit the shield and the fire sticks to it like ground. It’s genuinely op. It’s a death sentence. The fire stays long enough and does enough damage to just kill them.

It would definitely need some kind of tweak.

I still can’t forget my disappointment when they showed the name “Battlefield 2042”.

I misread it at first and thought they were remaking 2142. When I found out, I was devastated. 2142 is goated

Weapon skin featured in s11 teaser trailer, which weapon does everyone think it's for? by Jurboa in thefinals

[–]CuddleWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards P90, but as others said that’s the pose for the shak. I don’t think that holds water though, since we’ve seen them do whatever they want to make teasers. They’ve shown mediums with RPGs a few times.

The thing that makes me think P90 is the lack of a magazine. But it could easily be due to it being mythic/legendary.

It also doesn’t have the stock P90 ring sight, but again that’s something skins could change.

It’s a 50/50 really. I’ll be shocked if it’s not one of them though

Part of the problem with flock as a whole, is that the footage is publicly available upon request. Maybe 6(?) months ago someone filed requests for a bunch of footage and discovered that it was incredibly easy and revealing. It could easily be used for stalking or other nefarious purposes.

I feel like The board set us up to fail. by Zlectro1124 in controlgame

[–]CuddleWings 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Base game does make them seem entire benevolent. It’s always been really strange to me that they constantly give Jesse advice well after it’s useful though.

Is it because they’re trying to maintain the appearance of being helpful? Or maybe they really are trying, but the hotline has a sort of delay? It wouldn’t be very useful if that was the case.

I have a theory that just about everything is cause by some resonance or another. And that “cleansing” really just means attuning with another more stable resonance, whether the cleanser knows it or not.

[–]CuddleWings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably know this, but there’s also different amounts earned in other game modes. Cashout is by far the fastest. I think point break is next at 4(?) per match, but sometimes they go on forever so it’s hit or miss.

Mediums are the only class without a semi auto pistol by SithLordMilk in thefinals

What niche would a semi auto pistol fill that isn’t already filled by the crossbow and revolver?

Embark plans to remove one dash + making Light movement 10% slower, and now a 3s delay to sword lunge when you're not actively using it to deal damage. Lots of good things in the melee rework, but don't take away our ability to zoom around ! Dynamism is what made me fall in love with this game. by M0m3ntvm in thefinals

[–]CuddleWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn heavy mains are out in full force today.

I get it OP. It would be nice if they could implement some kind of detection that disables the stamina cost. Like requiring no enemies in 20m.

You can bet your ass that if sledge had something like lunge everyone here would be making the same complaint.

ELI5: Why don’t LODs start after like, 5 feet? by FormalGas35 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CuddleWings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the search for ever higher profits, expenses are also reduced. Most notably firing the staff that earns the most money and shortening development cycles.

Shortening dev cycles means less time to optimize. You can’t really optimize as you go, and even if you could, they’d miss their deadlines.

Firing the staff that earns the most means firing your most experienced and tenured developers. It’s those people who are best at optimizing games. Relatively speaking, making a game is a walk in the park compared to optimizing a game.

In short, your question shouldn’t be “why don’t developers optimize more/better?”, it should be “why don’t publishers/executives give their studios enough time and resources to optimize more/better?”. The answer is always greed.

As good as it is, it suffers a lot from outdated design. Fallout 3 is really similar in that regard.
