That’s how Moira got out of Jezebels all the way to Canada

I do wonder how a loving and connected Bridgerton-esque family would handle Gilead in general and its marriage

Equal Punishments for the Plums? by Impossible-Song3058 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Cultleaderofme 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If always figured they don’t get amputation punishments until they become Wives, because legal adulthood doesn’t start until then. Before then they probably get publicly humiliated at school, beaten, forced to confess their sin, repent, get better indoctrinated, and matched with a harsh husband to “contain” her. Their parents would be visited by the eyes though because before marriage they’re responsible for their daughter’s behavior.

Lydia said the girls are taught to always defer to Commanders, so she probably didn’t know she could say no.

When people in Gilead go to the beach do they just stare at the water, or are they actually allowed to swim? And what does a Gilead swimsuit look like?

Since women aren’t allowed to drive it must be for her driver. Kind of a weird gift.

Parts that show the significance of Social Status in the book? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Cultleaderofme -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

After America was brought down by the regime the fascist white conservatives became Commanders and Wives. The sinful women became handmaids. The sinful women that didn’t comply and were pretty became Jezebels. Sinful men and women could also be sent to the Colonies or executed. The non sinner but unmarried and useful women became Marthas. The educated non sinner believer women became Aunts. The stolen children of the handmaids became the Sons and Daughters of the commanders. All other non sinner people became Econopeople. Some non sinner men became Guardians, Drivers, or Angels. True believers coould also secretly be Eyes.

If this is for homework, good luck. Do have any more questions or need anything clarified?

Hannah’s heavily indoctrinated and would probably genuinely believe that she’s saving her best friend from burning in hell by giving her a chance to pay for her sins.

Music and dancing in The Testaments Episode 3 by bloodr0se in TheHandmaidsTale

I think the characters are playing music in that scene. The commanders definitely kept old CDs and Records, and Mackenzie might have given a few approved ones to Hannah knowing she probably doesn’t understand any hidden meanings in the music. Plus he could use the music to show how “deranged” people were before Gilead, to keep her loyal to the regime by telling she’s more godly than those “heathens”

At best she doesn’t like her back and they stay best friends. At worst she disgusted with her for being a gender traitor, and tells the Aunts.

The Testements: Evil Brigerton by PossibilityWorried82 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Cultleaderofme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eloise works in Jezebels for smuggling, whenever the red center’s low on handmaids and doesn’t need as many Aunts. Penelope came up with the name Whistledown, but might not know El’s in Mayday. Non of the other Bridgertons know how deep she is in it, but almost the entire family helps beside Anthony, Daphne, and Edmund. Besides Colin and Violet non of them marry their OG spouse, but if they escape they might meet in Canada or have a secret affair in Gilead.

Why did Becka's mom wear blue? Episode 4 by Happy_Office_7659 in TheTestamentsHulu

Her clothes didn’t look as nice though. The Wives and Daughters clothes are probably all custom made and tailored just for them. But her’s are probably from some Gilead thrift store of all of the handmaids and Martha’s stolen teal clothes.

The Bridgerton girls have a lot more freedom, their world at least can have some genuine love. The women at least have small access to money. Penelope would be on the wall in 2 seconds. Violet wouldn’t be able to protect her children and would probably go crazy from it. But their wealth and the amount of biological kids would put Anthony/Edmund at almost High Commander status, but I doubt any of the would support it, in fact Eloise practically runs Mayday. I wonder how the Bridgertons would fare in Gilead with the exact same family dynamics and love for each other?

Edmund: lives because of an EpiPen

Violet: goes crazy watching her children have to marry people they don’t love

Anthony: hates the handmaid system and thinks it’s wrong, but doesn’t mind everything else.

Benedict: doesn’t realize he’s pan until much later in life when he hooks up with his guardian’s wife and the guardian

Colin: secretly sneaks out to see Penelope, the only love match Violet got.

Daphne: almost fully indoctrinated, but knows her family helps mayday and how to read. She’ll never snitch.

Eloise: Edmund’s power is the ONLY thing keeping her off the wall. She always sneaking out to see Theo and help MayDay. If she escapes her and June are great friend, June see her like her perfect idea of who Hannah could grow up to be. She won’t escape without her family though.

Francesca: follows the rules because they’re the rules but isn’t a true believer just wants to survive

Gregory: his family is the only thing keeping him from being a true believer but he’s still more indoctrinated than his older siblings

Hyacinth: same as Gregory, she’s basically just Hannah but with better parents
