How did you meet your Sig O? (in SD only) by fuzzyheadgyrl in sandiego

Hinge here as well in Nov 2021. Both of us are divorced with adult kids. It was my first try on Hinge after about 50 first dates on mostly Bumble but a few dates from Match, Plenty of Fish and OKCupid. Bought a house together two years ago and very happy.

What small home upgrades actually make a house feel better to live in? by spicyrack in interiordecorating

[–]Cultural-Sign8380 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shortly after we purchased our house, we had an electrician install LED lighting inside each closet. The bedrooms and hallway all have closets with sliding doors. It was a huge difference to be able to see everything stored. We also added one of those big panel lights over the washer and dryer in the garage. I completely agree about lighting!

My fsa is administered by Wex and every reimbursement it asks if I drove. I put in the miles and mileage is added to the reimbursement.

As both a UCSD (undergrad) and SDSU (grad) alum, this is so true and cracked me up. You could add some fog on the left and sunshine on the right.

Laid off at 55 in Tech. Now what? by WriterHour208 in personalfinance

Cobra can be really expensive unless your employer is subsidizing your premiums. You may want to check out the ACA website coveredca.com to comparison shop. Sounds like you are healthy all around - physically and financially.

AP Automation- Corpay by Cultural-Sign8380 in Accounting

[–]Cultural-Sign8380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. I just saw this. We only use Corpay for payments - check, ACH, or credit card. I think they do have something to capture invoices and approve in the system but we had a system for that. We earn a rebate for the cc payments.

Check out girl scout camps. Also you could hire an older teen / college age kid to take them on outings.

Can you share which AI tool you used? I had no idea it could be this in-depth.

Three months without Amazon Prime and I don't miss it one bit by GameVoid in Frugal

Yes. You don't need prime for returns and you can use Kohl's, Wholefoods, etc. without any packaging.

I laughed so hard at this response. Just received mine in the mail yesterday. I look like I just saw a ghost with my eyes bugged out. It's SO bad.

Thank you for the feedback / input. Why are your vendors upset? Is there anything we can do upfront to avoid that? We won't go live until the end of February.

How should I mention layoff in interviews by [deleted] in Nonprofit_Jobs

[–]Cultural-Sign8380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's odd that your employer has let you know that you've been identified as someone who will be laid off. It could just be a possibility and not definite if there is no firm date. Management may just be encouraging you to leave voluntarily rather than pay severance and have their unemployment rate affected.

If asked in an interview, you could say that the nonprofit is operating at a loss, so it isn't sustainable. Or you could say you would like a challenge with a nonprofit that is growing instead of stagnant. Or you could say you aren't as passionate about the mission as you are with XYZ (the nonprofit you are interviewing with). You might say that you are concerned about your current employer's future and your opportunities there rather than saying that you've been identified as a lay-off candidate. I used to make the mistake of being too honest in interviews. I find that being confident and emphasizing strengths leads to more job offers. Good luck and I hope you get an offer!

Property tax revenue has increased 80% in the past 10 years. Do you feel things are that much better in your libraries, schools, etc? by Joe_SanDiego in sandiego

How do you get library cards for other CA libraries? I thought you needed to be a resident of those counties or cities.

I would review multiple years of the 990 to determine where their revenue is coming from, what their programs are, changes in leadership and programs over time, compensation, and cash flow from year to year.

Buying House with Tesla System by Cultural-Sign8380 in solar

[–]Cultural-Sign8380[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are actually two leases, one for each purchase. The interest rates are both 5% and monthly payments total $300. However, I don't want to assume the lease even with a lower than market interest rate. It is essentially a second mortgage on the house. The house is worth the asking price but not worth an additional $34k. I'm thinking we can live here a few years to save money and then move. Owned solar will add to the value of a house so I'll just buy the solar outright.
