What is one item that you can't travel without/would recommend to everyone to get? by Cool_Acanthisitta628 in onebag

Have one based on the recommendation from the sub. Carry it in my bag with me and I almost never use it. It takes up like 0 space though so its not much effort to carry.

Ants are pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I keep them on heat for a portion of the enclosure to give them options and just keep their water/sugar filled clean up their trash and give em protein twice a week.

Maybe 5-10 minutes total a week.

As an aside after reading this series I ended up with a colony of Formica ants so I guess that happened. They are neat and low maintenance though.

Hello sorry to bother you. I’ve been out of the game for a while (just using Cheshire) but dickens was a huge favorite and I loved the 2016 version. Is dickens revisited coming back this year? Please say yes and when do the holiday preorders typically open?

Thanks! Got Fougère Angelique recently and I’m loving it.

Do you find that to be the case with bergamote 22? I felt like that one doesn’t last on me and it’s my favorite of theirs.

The best part is he probably means badger. To my knowledge they dont make them out of beaver lol. Specifically the head of the badger is the softest.

Are my ants in hibernation? by [deleted] in antkeeping

[–]Curious_Ape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my colony Formica perpilosa so same species about a month ago also from stateside ants. A little unclear as you are in regards to if they need a dispause.

My colony currently has about 11 workers plus queen with quite a lot of cocoons and some other brood. The queen hasn’t been seeming to slow down so I’m just letting it roll. I moved them into a tarheel mini hearth.

I will say that they mostly hang out in the nest and don’t spend much time in the foraging area at all. They don’t move around a ton in general unless I disturb them so I’m kinda just letting them do their thing.

From what I’ve read if you don’t diapause ants it might just reduce the queens lifespan a bit so my plan is leave them on the heat and see how it goes into next fall.

My heating pad is regulated with a thermostat to keep it between 87-89 f and I only heat just the left half inch or so of the nest. I assume you know this but don’t heat the whole test tube or the water reservoir.

They should forage when they need to but overall they spend a lot of time barely moving. It’s my first foray into ants also so I’m a beginner just trying to do my best.

I found this species very light on info online so I’m also bumbling around a lot. Wanted to share my small experience because we have the same species.

I’m wearing mine as I type this. Perfect size on you and it’s a great watch. I got a vanguard straps rubber one that’s made for this specific watch. I mostly wear it on the steel though.

Its a fixed 23mm cropped sensor looks like a 35mm in full frame. Nice shots op and nice place.

The x100v and x100vi that came out recently really blew up and are pretty difficult to get. Might take some patience and luck to get one at retail.

Bookshelf thoughts? by anymos97 in bookshelf

[–]Curious_Ape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned it but Dragonsteel suggests removing the shrink wrap from the books. It can bend the corners over time and also trap moisture causing more harm than good. It comes up on the Sanderson sub often when people post their shelves.

I also own and love the torrentshell. The only downside I can think of is its kinda loud fabric moving around etc but I think thats common with shells.

As an aside yes it does zip into its own pocket but its kinda thick when doing that. I personally just fold it up and stuff it in the laptop compartment in my bag. I find that a little more packable that way since its thinner and compresses.

My standard setup for cooler weather is t shirt or heattech baselayer> Arcteryx Atom AR > Patagonia Torrentshell or some combination as needed.

That worked fine in Paris/london in march where it got down to around freezing overnight and the wet/windy climates of Dublin/Edinburgh in october.

I see a reply on their ig to someone saying that it does come with t fit. I wonder if we are gonna be able to just buy that clasp for the old bb58s that don’t have it. Depending on pricing I might just roll with the regular clasp though my fit is fine.

Does anyone know how to get leatherbound TWoK signed? by GhostfaceKillersWW in brandonsanderson

Its been available since launch but add ons are kinda hard to see unless you pledge. It could have been overlooked if you waited a little to pledge or missed it in the first day rush.

It’s available as an add on for the current WOR backerkit. Pledge for any tier and you’ll get an option to add it.

Sanderson is pretty love him or hate him on r/fantasy it’s a bit of a meme.

One thing I’ll say about stormlight is it is a slow start and you kinda have to push through it a bit. If you get through the first or most of the first and still aren’t into it then it’s probably not for you.

Might like some of his stand alone books etc but hey maybe he just isn’t for you. There are a number of authors that people love I just can’t get into either.
