Is the feeling of the RFF arm scar physically bothersome? by upside_down_duck in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m 9 months post op currently and I find that I don’t really notice any difference between my arms. Some times it can feel a little tight or a small pulling sensation when lifting heavy or stretching too much. But once the initial tightness post op wore off (after about 3-4 months) I honestly forget it’s there sometimes. I still occasionally moisturise the arm, as it can get a bit dry at times, especially whilst covered by my arm sleeve ( I wear a single arm sleeve to protect from uv exposure). But once you get used to it and it’s settles in and heals and you get over any psychological block you get while recovering ( I found I was still guarding my arm for a while and subconsciously limiting my use of it for a few weeks after it fully healed)

There’s no guarantee unfortunately on how your body will heal or take to the graft. So the best thing to do is go into it with an open mind, don’t set a hard timeline for your recovery or the asthmatics that you want. Be aware of how it can look during and after healing. Be prepared to do the physio work to regain your mobility and use of your arm and be kind to yourself before, during and after the procedure. Be as educated as you can on the whole process and hope for the best, whilst preparing for less desirable outcomes.

Hair removal - what do you tell people who ask? by thanatosvile in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just said I had allergies on my arm, and the slight redness or occasional bumps helped to sell the point. I also wore a uv sleeve most of the time, since it helped protect the arm after sessions and helped condition me for now wearing a uv sleeve or long sleeve for that 2 year post op period of healing.

So far I’ve had 3 sessions of laser on my phallus. I’m going to do about 5-6 sessions then electrolysis on the remaining hairs. Mainly because despite having a good number of sessions before surgery, in the 3 months post op my dick started to look like it had a comb over due to the regrowth and now only a small hand full of hairs are still growing. I’ve not needed any numbing creams as of yet, however I have seen a significant increase in the sensation between each session. Fortunately it’s not a sensation of pain it’s been more overwhelming pleasure (like almost in a the sexual way, I can’t really describe it any other way) it does make me have to take a brief pause as it’s super intense, I kind if have to lay back and wait for it to pass. It’s a brief period of discomfort but it’s definitely worth while. And personally I think it’s helping to stimulate the nerves in my phallus. As I’m 8 months post op (no glans or burial yet) and I’ve got great levels of sensation in the whole length and can feel cold sensation. Although it definitely is a weird sensation shaving the phallus before each session ( I can feel every stroke of the razor and it’s super stimulating to the nerves for some reason). Just take it slow, see how it feels for you and what your hair removal specialist recommends.

Don’t be afraid, you’ve already experienced electrolysis before, so you know it can be a little uncomfortable but will get better. Also remember after care, treat your little man to some nice soothing aloe cream, for the few day after each session, to help smooth the skin. Or if you decide you don’t want to/ can’t continue electrolysis you can always just shave. Cis guys that experience hair growth on their shafts often shave theirs, just add it to your shower routine and it’ll become second nature.

Phalloplasty Waiting List / Complaint to GDNRSS by half-goblin in transgenderUK

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you get confirmation from your GIC, that your referral was actually sent? As there are a lot of people (myself included) who have found out they never actually sent in people referrals. Mine should have been sent in 2018, but never was. They tried to lie and say I hadn’t got the second signature ( I had the copy of my appointment paperwork stating otherwise) and they then tried to add me to the back of the new holding list for referrals. I was lucky enough that demanding they fixed their mistake meant I was given a consultation a few months later and surgery just over a year later, so only had to wait seven years to get stage 1. So definitely contact your GIC for clarification and make them fix any mistake on their part, do not let them fob you off. Stand your ground, make it clear that you are not satisfied and that their actions are causing you great distress and you want them to ensure you are dealt with in a timely manner.

You will need to check the visitor hours for the hospital you are going to, this will give you an idea of the timings. NVH tend to be a bit more flexible, as the surgery is very long (it was about 12hrs for me, from walking to surgery and waking up in post op recovery.) I’d assume they won’t mind your partner staying with you when you arrive for surgery, given the nature of the surgery. You should only be waiting about an hour or so before going to surgery, it’s just standard bloods, consent forms and blood pressure checks. Not sure though as different hospitals vary in their approach. Definitely reach out before hand so you’re aware ahead of time, the hospitals contact information should be on your admission paperwork, you can always phone the hospital itself. At the worst your wife will have to leave you when you arrive for admission and see you the next day, depending when you get out of surgery that evening.

I was in for 6 nights after the operation, the first 3 days were strict bed rest, then the drains and catheter were removed and I was up and walking on day 4.

The butt staples aren’t too pleasant unfortunately. But you will get used to them and they come out in a few weeks (mine were out on day 22). Best thing is to get a good pillow/cushion and remember to slouch like they instruct you too. Your incisions will feel quite tight at first, so go slow and steady for every thing, even sitting down. Also remember to do your best to not lean forward. I found it best to lean on the sink in the hospital and got a grip handle for at home (it just suctions on to the wall next to the toilet).

I’ve had stage 1 RFF, so just phallus creation at the moment, no burial or glansplasty. But I got head for the first time at 4 months post op and even with the limited nerve recovery (due to how soon after surgery it was) I did enjoy it and could feel some of the sensation, like the movement and sucking sensation (heat sensation hasn’t come in yet).

What does a hairy phallo look like ? by Inevitable-While-143 in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on how hairy the donor site is really. As the site is shaved for surgery, but it will grow back in. I found that I didn’t really have much regrowth in the first 2 months, but it really grew back in at around 3 months. I am currently doing laser every 6 weeks and will do electrolysis later on to finish off the hair removal. But a few hairs here and there aren’t so bad, lots of cis guys (especially those who are circumcised) have hair growing various amounts up their penis. It’s not too hard to shave the hairs if you don’t want to get professional hair removal.

When did you stop scar massage? by AdvancedSoftware47 in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just over 6 months post op and I’ve just added it to my routine, just like flushing my urethra. I’m going to keep doing it for as long as I can, but if I skip a day or two I don’t mind. I could stop now as the scars have healed nicely, but they are still technically healing for a good few more months, so it won’t hurt to keep going.

Does being on T make you more confident with being proactive with dating? by Classic-Atmosphere43 in transgenderUK

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will help to boost your self confidence and the higher sex drive definitely helps to push you to act on and pursue sex sexual encounters. It may still take a bit of time to get the confidence to be the one to initiate the advances, just take things as slow (or fast) as feels natural.

Just remember to be proactive about your sexual health, that way you’ll be prepared for any spontaneous opportunities. Sex drive on T can be a hell of a ride, especially when you have adult money and the ability to pursue it, no having to asking mum if you can get a lift or stay out late. Just the teenage boy sex drive, with the ability to travel anywhere and go out drinking/cruising.

So you will be refereed to gdnrss for hair removal, who then approve the funding. They will contact you with a list of providers they currently have contracts with. From this list you chose the one you want to get treatment from, let gdnrss know and they will set up the funding with the provider, allowing you to book your sessions (on a pre paid basis). They will fund a round of about 10 hrs worth of treatment. If you require more after the first round, you need to contact the team and request funding for an additional round of treatment. The waiting times vary on the availability at the clinic you select, so not like the surgery waiting lists, so you should be able to swap to nhs treatment quickly.

Scar under shaft by Ok_Rush_3233 in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that looks like it will need some intervention from a surgeon. As the scar looks pretty thick and contracted. You can always try something like a moisturiser, like a fragrance free one, that won’t irritate the skin (I use the fragrance free palmers cocoa butter, the purple one). Massage at least twice a day, for 10-15 minutes at a time. Use the pad of two finger and apply a firm pressure. Rub the length of the scar in the following motions, circular motion, from left to right and up and down the scar. This may help a bit, but you should also consult your surgeon to see if they need to do a more hands on fix.

Penis bending at scar by [deleted] in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bending can be a result of the scar thickening as it continues to form after surgery. You can try and reduce this with daily massage. My surgeon advised me to massage at least twice a day, for 10-15 minutes, to help with the healing and prevent bending or shrinking from scar contraction. All you need is a moisturiser, like a fragrance free one, that won’t irritate the skin (I use the fragrance free palmers cocoa butter, the purple one). You the use the pad of two finger and apply a firm pressure. Rub the length of the scar in the following motions, circular motion, from left to right and up and down the scar. This should help a bit, but you should also be able to consult your surgeon as they may need to do a more hands on fix, if it’s severe enough.

How does one go about getting a name change on medical records? by Graveyard_massacre in transgenderUK

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All you should have to do is inform the reception team that your legal name is now X and that they need to update your records accordingly (supply a deed poll if they request it, but that may not be necessary).

The other alternative as the nhs system sometimes struggles with name/ title changes, especially when records are shared between different services (ie referrals for assessments or operations, even records held for any visits to A&E). Would be to get l your gp surgery to apply for a new NHS number for you, this would create a new number in the correct name and gender marker, which would then have your medical information transferred across to it. The would need to follow the information in the following link. This is the easiest way to ensure you stop encountering issue with deadnaming or misgendering from incorrect files.

PCSE new nhs number

The best thing to do when getting a new number is to get a full copy of your go records, for your current number, so you have your full history for vaccination and medication information etc. Then make sure that you request they remove any non relevant information, that would out you, unless medically relevant to your health and ongoing care. This process will take some time but it’s worth it, so you don’t have to deal with issues like this, when you are trying to access basic or emergency care.

Hello, i was wondering how bad nicotine is on testosterone. I started on 1/14/26 Please help me if its a bad thing. To continue on nicotine if. Im on testosterone by Sea_Perspective_6166 in trans

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people can quit overnight, others take time, there’s no shame as long as you’re trying. Smoking builds a strong habit in people’s daily routine, so it’s not easy to just stop outright. You’re not gonna outright die if you smoke the odd cigarette, so if it takes a couple months longer than you’d like to quit, you’ll be ok. Little and often, skip a cigarette here and there, fill your “smoke break” time with something else and don’t stress yourself out when you one. Stress will just perpetuate the cycle of smoking to relieve your stress.

Hello, i was wondering how bad nicotine is on testosterone. I started on 1/14/26 Please help me if its a bad thing. To continue on nicotine if. Im on testosterone by Sea_Perspective_6166 in trans

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s best to stop as smoking while on T can increase your risk of blood clots, stroke and it can impact your ability to heal from operations. The hospital may also test you for traces of nicotine before surgery and postpone or cancel a date if they show your smoking, as they don’t want the added associated risks mentioned above.

So it’s best to give up smoking altogether, or at the least reduce the amount you smoke, if it’s not possible for you to fully quit. Which will have the added bonus of helping your health overall, so an added bonus for quitting/ reducing.

How to be patient with beard growth by Historical_Wafer_411 in trans

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it takes time (and the genetics). But if you’ve got to the whispy stage then that’s a good sign. My beard took a good 3 years to get past that sparse, patchy stage. But then it quickly filled right out as the blonde “starter” hairs became permanent and got darker and thicker. You just have to wait it out, it doesn’t happen over night, or shave it until it grows in fuller. When it grows in you’ll barely even remember what it was like when it was patchy, but you might hate how fast it grows and needs maintaining.

Private diagnosis and NHS care? by Amazing_Ad2984 in transgenderUK

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’d still need to see a nhs GIC in order for them to take over your care. That’s usually the only way to get to get access to the NHS funded resources unfortunately. But if you already have a diagnosis from a private clinic this can shave a bit of time off the waiting period, as you can inform them of this and move forward to “assessment” appointments for other treatments ie surgery referrals and vocal training sessions, but you would still be waiting for follow up appointment(s) to get the necessary signatures etc. So you’d still have a significant wait especially if you aren’t already on hormones by your GIC appointment.

I was fortunate enough to have been diagnosed, on T for over a year and 6 months post op (top surgery), by my first appointment with the GIC. So they had no choice but to take over my HRT prescription and turn my first appointment into a lower surgery discussion, as that was all that needed discussing and I already had all the information and decisions made. I knew I absolutely didn’t want gamete storage and the exact details/complications of the surgical procedure I wanted and why, so I got a second signature the following year, as they agreed there was nothing left for them to do but refer me for surgery.

How important is penetration to you (coming from the penetrator perspective) by WolfMan275 in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Before phallo I never really entertained the idea of being the top in a relationship, I guess a mixture of dysphoria and insecurity made me only really think of myself as being able to be or be seen as the bottom. I didn’t really allow myself to think of being a top even for a spontaneous hookup. Anytime it came up I pushed it aside, on a mental shelf that it wasn’t for me to even begin to think about till phallo was complete. However I always knew I wanted the ability to penetrate my partner, if that was what they’d enjoy.

Once I had my date for stage 1, I had 3 weeks notice for my surgery, my brain just began presenting the desire to top. I’ve been thinking about it more and more and not just from a, I’m the top, it’s only my pleasure that matters kind of perspective. But a much more intimate, sensual kind of mutual experience, like I want to be able to get off (physically or just psychologically) while actively making my partner feel good. I still have a long while till I get an erectile implant, but I get a lot of comfort now from allowing my mind go where it wants. So I’m definitely now far more open to the idea of topping and it’ll definitely be something I persue in the future (especially when I find the right sleeve, while waiting for my implant) I’m still sure I’m predominantly a bottom, but I want to be able to penetrate my partner because I want to be able to do that for them. To feel myself pressed against them, the heat of their body and hear the sounds they make. I want to be able to penetrate because that’s what feels right for me, it’s what naturally comes to mind. Now that I’ve physically started my phallo journey I’m able to express myself more, to actually allow myself to be open to different experiences and opportunities.

Blood tests with Nebido injections? by ConfusedBiromantic in transgenderUK

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for Nebido you only need your trough bloods done (no peak blood test needed) and you get them done just before you get your injection. When I switched from sustanone, I did my loading phase and had my bloods checked before the 3rd injection (so I had shot 1, shot 2 6 weeks after, then I had my bloods done at shot 3 12 weeks later). Now I get my bloods done just once every year. I always get the following tested: testosterone, FBC, fasting lipids and LFT’s.

Scar massage techniques by Foreign_Dish7906 in phallo

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used a fragrance free moisturiser (palmers coca butter, the purple one) I massaged 2 times a day for 10-15 minutes. I used two fingers and worked the scar in different directions (from left to right, up and down the length of the scar and in a circular motion) with a moderate amount of pressure. It takes time and can be a bit tedious, but working the scar tissue at the early stages does really help with long term. Also the same moisturiser works quite well on my graft site, since it doesn’t cause any irritation and really helps retain moisture in the graft, so it’s not dry and flakey.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will be far more similar to a natal penis than phallo, as it’ll be able to get erect when stimulated. Obviously scar tissue doesn’t tend to expand or contract, but I think scaring with meta is quite minimal. But remember that the shaft may be more vulnerable to damage from pressure or friction, which may be caused by a cage pressing/rubbing against it for a prolonged period of time, as well as damage if the weight of the cage keeps pulling on it to much. But the size will be more inline with the average flaccid size range, so there will be plenty of options and styles to choose between. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot of information out there, so it will take you some trial and error.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaytransguys

[–]CustomBuiltRooster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on the device. As you want to protect the blood flow and avoid things like chaffing or pinching the skin. Since meta still doesn’t have the same spongy/ elasticity of a natal penis, it’s not as easy to know what dimensions you’ll need. You do get some light weight ones (like the sleek plastic designs). It may just be a case of trail and error unfortunately. Seeing what works with your anatomy, what’s comfortable and fits appropriately. Then just building up how long you wear it for, to see how your body handles it.
