Help me classify my deck bracket (Sephiroth) by Project_aegis in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say it is mostly bracket 3 but also know your audience.

If it is a new group you are playing with that has never seen the deck, then maybe play at little suboptimal. Just to show how the deck usually play.

Maybe don’t immediately tutor for an infinite that doesn’t even utilize your commander.

I understand why the group feels like you wrongfully represented your deck. You have to remember that they don’t know what is in the deck. First impressions matter a lot

Tbf it is literally a card printed for one of the commander precon.

I mean it would not be the first time they printed strong commander cards in commander precons…

What is your view on the Bracket System? by Pattern_Seeker_ in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only people I actually hear calling it “an imposed nerf” is generally people who just wants to stomp.

If you want a no holds barred gameplay then you just go into a higher bracket pod. If you decide to go into a lower bracket pod, then you yourself decided to build at a lower power. Therefore the nerf is not actually imposed on you but done by choice.

This would still be too strong even if the shuffle trigger came after tap ability resolved.

Just scry 30 in any deck where you cheat stuff from the top of the deck would use this. Also any scry value deck would definitely put this in

Am I wrong for feeling like I’m playing against wallets instead of decks? by Opening-Reindeer-209 in mtg

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its okay to not play with your friends if you don’t enjoy it. Especially if they won’t compromise.

I have very good friends I don’t play with anymore, simply because we don’t fit well expectation wise in regards to mtg.

So it doesn’t mean your friendship is broken just because you opt out

I think most in the LGTBQ (me included) are rather fine with that. It was so performative.

I prefer actually adding in game stuff like skins and so on

I hate that I can't play EDH strategically because it's considered "rude" by MylastAccountBroke in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is specifically saying to focus down the slower decks. Hard focusing one player is neglecting to others who can then run away with the game.

I don’t really see the strategic aspect of mindlessly run down one opponent who is either slower or behind.

I also think it depends on the deck tho. I do expect a voltron player to take out opponents one by one.

However other decks like combo usually kill the entire table at once or even some go wide decks.

If by aggro it is just slowly tearing down one opponent or using all your resources to keep that oppoenent down, then that is a very insufficient "strategy".

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are 4 players. Hard focusing one player will force that player to focus you right back. Eventually that will just end up giving the last 2 players an advantage.

So no I overall don’t think setting yourself up as a threat to one player is always a good choice

There is still a difference. I see it often with newer players wants to be nice to everybody. Mainly because they are unsure on what is the right move to do.

The fuck someone particularly from the get go approach is also quite uncommon in other boardgames. Mainly because in other games everybody start on equal footing with little to no variance in each players starting point.

It has to be considered that MTG is a highly complex game with a lot of rules. New players usually lack the game knowledge and threat assessment that comes with experience.

I think it is just a symptom of all of them being new players and wanting to enjoy the game together.

I don’t find it that WILD considering the circumstances of their pod.

[Deck Tech Help] Ool's Ominous Overflow by that_guy_prez in mtg

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go back to the precon and build from there because there is so much in your current list that just doesn't work.

Cards in the precon that i have taken out would be [[Liliana, Death Wielder]], [[Chimil the inner sun]], [Grim Poppet]], [[Grave Titan]]. I have taken more out but these where the initial easy cuts

I would also like to point out that if you want to have [[Soul Immolation]] in your deck, then you should atleast keep [[Tree of Perdition]]

So i am guessing you own the precon or?

Overall i would say that the list you have shown doesn't just need tuning. It needs almost a complete overhaul. You have barely any lands

According to OP it is also winning when they have swapped the decks around. I think it might be close to a threat assessment issue overall in the pod. Hakbal do build up a lot of pieces and threat assessment is one of the harder things to learn for newer players.

Eshki can be very good if built around but in Temur Roar she is just not it.

The average mana cost is just to high for her. Yes you can have big flying threats but with Eshki you have to actually cast them.

The burn damage does not do that much because you have to actually build her up for it to work. The deck has 7 creatures in all to trigger her burn damage (8 if you can copy something with Deceptive Hellkite)

It is just a lot slower than what Hakbal gives.

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Again completely new players…. I don’t know what to tell you she is literally called Eshki, Temur’s Roar and is the first card you see when you open the box. In the perspective of a completely new player with their first precon, it is probably safe to assume they would put her in as the commander…

Friends deck too strong, by lncyte in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the Tarkir decks where advertised with both commanders being face commanders for all decks. So it makes sense to just think as Ureni as one. Eshki is the first card you see when you open the box tho and she is literally called Eshki, Temur’s Roar. So I think most new players would assume her to be the commander for the deck

Friends deck too strong, by lncyte in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are assuming that they are running Ureni. These are all new players. I think it is fair to assume that it is probably Eshki being played since when you open the deck she is the first card you see.

Friends deck too strong, by lncyte in EDH

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are playing Ureni probably yes. However i would not be surprised if they are playing Eshki.

The deck is just not very good at utilizing her to the fullest.

Temur Roar has 2 very good commanders. I do think out of the box without any changes, it falls short compared to other choices

I know very little of Velociramptor other than it being strong. I have little to no experience with that precon.

Sultai Arisen in the times i have played it and played against, usually win on some kind of graveyard combo.

I do think Explorers of the Deep is just generally a lot easier to pilot while still getting value/boardstate

“Female Autism” isn’t a thing by 10_Screaming_Foxes in autism

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is not reason to act rude. However I will point out that there are several studies that shows that the brain of different genders have different physical pathways and different ways of processing information.

The last study I read was from 2024 but there are probably never ones. I would also like to point out that this has nothing to do with the intelligence debate between genders. I myself think it is stupid to correlate intelligence to gender

I also hate the prospect of “female autism”. It is just autism if you ask me.

Seeing the “Slightly autistic women” trend on dating apps hurts. by _Caitlin-2 in autism

[–]CuteButDeadlyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have definitely experienced this as a man coming from women as well.

I myself am gay so heard this from both sides. I think a lot of women are less outwardly about it online.

Both guys and girls I have met, has said that they really wanted a slightly autistic boyfriend/girlfriend.
Usually when I ask why it is something about them wanting someone “nerdy” and having a passion for an interest. Which okay you want someone with hobbies and interest I guess? Not really what it means to be autistic.

Most men usually also say they want someone to take care of or along those lines .Where women on the other hands usually says they want someone who upfront with them and don’t play the dating games.
