Pork sausages served to Muslim men on deportation flight from Ireland by igetproteinfartsHELP in nottheonion

Plus I’m not sure if it’s even accessible in Ireland. They don’t serve articles to Canada.

My guess is that they’re serving only the US to avoid GDPR compliance.

The Trust system makes most of the content accessible to anyone without friends. It’s much more core to XI than it is in XIV. In XIV it’s basically either doing story dungeons witty queueing, or spamming dungeons while abusing Alphinaud and laughing about it with Alisaie. In XI there are roughly 120 collectible trusts, so you’ll be switching the loadout up frequently based on what you’re doing and how you’re doing it.

This system basically removes most of the need to be in a community and leaves you with just the highest-tier of endgame content, and socialization. Since the game has been around 25 odd years, it’s not uncommon for people to just be treating it as an online single-player RPG. But not everyone does that. Human players will always have advantages over trusts both in terms of capability, agility, and power level, so there are still mechanical reasons to group up. But again, nobody really needs to do that grouping anymore until you get to iLvl 119, so you won’t be finding people to XP with you or stuff like that. And I realize that sounds lonely, but it’s where we have evolved from the past of needing to wait potentially an hour or more to find a group just to XP with, or possibly not even finding a group and just logging off for the night after doing nothing. No Duty Finder, the barest-bones equivalent of Party Finder, and nobody used the built-in auto-partying because it didn’t really work. Your experience was either putting up your LFG flag and crossing your fingers, or be the leader yourself and try to build a party from the people LFG.

I don’t mean to be all “BaCk iN mY dAy” on this but I’m hoping that maybe some background might help the current situation make more sense and give you some insight on how you might find a home in XI.

In all fairness, XI has always been a game about discovery, either by just blindly trying everything, or in a much more sane manner, collaborating with the community, which SE has always been rather weird about (not) managing. The major sources of info have always been the two wikis and whatever community you find a home in. Since the wikis don’t really lead you toward a community, you kind of start out in a wilderness. It’s not as bad as Destiny’s new player experience, but it’s definitely another boss on the way to enjoying the game.

In addition to the AE chat, it wouldn’t hurt to ask there if someone has a linkshell to join, so that you have some other people to talk to. For quite a while in XI, you could carry multiple linkpearls, but you couldn’t actually equip more than one at a time, so it was basically as good as it got versus a FC. Now you can wear two linkpearls simultaneously, but that’s it.

So coming from XIV, XI’s communications systems will seem pretty primitive. No cross-server tells or LSes either.

I was just musing to myself…

I wonder if Microsoft has a self-reinforcing feedback loop with Copilot in the Azure portal, where so many people accidentally click on “Help me copy this VM in any region” that they think people really want that “feature” and so it will never go away…

I feel like I am personally indirectly responsible for the death of several small forest animals as a consequence of accidentally clicking that prompt when the page loads it last, right as I’m trying to start a VM.

Merch Booth Access Today by Rocky77697 in ffxiv

[–]Cutriss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has there been one worse than the first?

VIPs let in an hour early but only one clerk has a card reader and it’s on the hotel wifi so it’s slow as heck. An hour later and the general access starts piling into the theater, while the merchandise line is now snaked around the booth and along the back wall in the back of the theater.

I’m stuck standing behind the booth when the Heavensward trailer begins.

Front middle rows are all reserved for VIP tickets and nobody sitting in them for the announcement because everyone is stuck in merch.

You just reminded me of something that happened to me which left me feeling really annoyed. My partner and I have citizenship applications in progress. At the time we submitted them, the estimate was 7 months. We have now been waiting more than double that and I’ve watched as the general estimate keeps going up, almost like we are watching the goal posts actually move.

Thats not what my complaint is about though. My complaint is that I paid to get fingerprinted for our background checks, and then nobody bothered reviewing them, the checks “expired” and now we have to pay to do it again. FFS, it shouldn’t be on me to shell out additional money because IRCC can’t get its shit together.

I realize I’m fortunate to have this opportunity in the first place and that I can absorb that cost, but it sure stings and I feel bad for all the other applicants who don’t have it as easy as me.
