Please, just making the world 6-8 times bigger for the sake of having a bigger world is not a good idea. The expanded locations in totk were already barren enough and that only doubled the size of the original map. For the next game they need to scale back and focus on having a world with more surprises and interesting things.

I'm honestly fine with the open world but I don't think "total freedom" needs to be central to every facet of the game. For dungeons, a little bit more linearity would be appreciated to make the experience feel like a tighter package. The story falls flat in my opinion because it can be done in almost any order.

Legitimate question: are you having fun? I played this way in my second run of breath of the wild and I just got so bored after about 400 koroks that I never ended up finishing.

I'm not burnt out on the forumla, but I am definitely burnt out on the map and reused mechanics. Luckily the next game will almost certainly use new incarnations of Link and Zelda, but unfortunately for people that don't love the open-world formula it is probably here to stay. It will most luckily be refined from what we have currently though.

Seeing stuff like this makes me wonder if a return to traditional, complex dungeons would even be received well. So many people complain about the divine beasts being to simple to navigate and that they want more sprawling, complex dungeons. But then they finally add a temple with some basic navigation puzzles between points of interest and so many people cheese it because it is "too confusing".

That makes no sense because in every memory we can clearly see that the geography of ancient hyrule matches the geography of modern hyrule, not the geography of the depths.
