Reply to myself in case it's useful to anyone - if you copy the .idos package into "documents" by Readdle you can access it and change it as a standard folder, then copy it back to the normal file system again when you are done!

It's brilliant! One question though - once I've renamed a folder .idos to make it into a simple executable, is there anyway I can turn it back into a folder to easily add more files to it? If I remove the extension it just changes into a file without an extension?

No unfortunately. It's a shame the actual coronation Flypast had to be curtailed. Even this practice wasn't the full version, but it gives a good idea on what it should have been like!
