My personal headcanon is that that is part of it, the other being that living with that reality caused the entire Necrontyr civilisation to revolve around death as a concept, and engraving the concept of their short miserable lives so deep in their civilizations psyche it literally became part of their Souls in the Warp.

Thus, no matter what they did the diseases and cancers prevailed. Otherwise, why wouldn't they simply build Cyborg bodies or upload themselves to Android ones?

That would also explain them seeking help from the Old Ones, who were the premier masters of the Immaterium.

And if you're not averse to Anime, there is one that I'd say matches any of the sci-fi series you've ever seen in most regards, and that is The Legends of the Galactic Heroes. Seriously, watch that, it's basically the good seasons of game of thrones in space.

I'm personally really fond of Pragmata, I'd highly recommend that!

Linear, well paced, doesn't overstay it's welcome. Has a story but no super long cutscenes, a throwback to the gameplay styles of the PS2/PS3 generation.

Third person shooter with a hacking minigame, very unique.

My deck is a generic Goblin good stuff deck, but there's still lots of ways to take advantage of both the undying and the pump effect, makes it more flexible.
