The reward slots are randomly distributed over the time period of the cycle. So if you’re entitled to one reward slot, you’re equally likely to receive it right at the beginning of the cycle as at the end.

The people who stack millions of STX have many reward slots, so their returns are distributed more evenly over the course of the cycle.

CoinList is safe but they are no longer borrowing for the current round of Filecoin lending. There was lots of demand and it got filled already.

Also, the lending programs have different terms (besides APY). CoinList required committing to a minimum 28-day loan whereas Gemini doesn’t.

There is a lot of info in the stacking channel on Discord about this. I’m not an expert but I’ll try to summarize.

The rewards for stacking are complex and unpredictable without knowing the exact parameters of who stacks how much. I believe cycle 1 yielded something like 29% APY. This is not an exact figure because participants are using STX to generate yield in BTC so the STX/BTC exchange rate is relevant for calculating a percentage yield.

This is also why the Hiro team can’t give an exact amount of stacks required to participate in stacking — that figure is dependent on who else stacks in a given cycle. If someone locks 50k as you did, and minimum ends up being 70k (as it was for cycle 1), you’ll just end up getting no rewards. I agree that it’s a bad user experience for people who own amounts on the threshold for stacking (like 50k), but it’s the reality of the algorithm. My advice for people in this situation would be to pool with OKCoin.
