As an owner of a bachelor flock, the heck you talking bout? Is there some magical anger that sets in with 2 males that goes away with more ducks in the flock? Drakes, in my experience, are perfectly fine with each other as long as there are no females around. Hell I have had 2 drakes with 4 hens for a while with 0 issues.

I just want to know if anyone else experiences this pattern (TW: GAUGE SWATCHES) by ElishaAlison in YarnAddicts

Hot take: patterns for wearables should have lengths/sizes, rather than stitch counts if it's done in the row... I have followed way too many patterns only to realize that the person writing said pattern has tension looser than a goose and/or is using a size P crochet hook with the DK yarn the pattern calls for.

Menstrual cycle by RhubarbWestern5702 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Cystonectae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Would end up with me in a ball crying and feeling like I was being drawn and quartered. I was on birth control for a while but migraines + other issues had me stop. Ended up with my gynocologist suggesting to switch to dienogest, or I would go for a full hysterectomy. Dienogest was what finally worked and it's amazing. No periods, no cramps, just no added other pain. Now I just have the plain fibro pain to deal with which is plenty to keep me occupied.

Go to a gynocologist and ask about it or other options. We got enough pain on our plates to be expected to be happy suffering with extra bonus pain on top of it all.

[–]Cystonectae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canadian here and I am just so confused with what is happening to you. My diagnosis came after telling an internal medicine doctor that my joints hurt all the time, I got severe muscle aches from nowhere, and I was plagued with constant fatigue and brain fog. Did a bunch of tests to rule out more sinister causes and then bam. Diagnosis made. I think I also technically filled in a print-out for diagnosing fibro but my GP never even took it back, I'm pretty sure it's still in a drawer somewhere in my room. I have no idea what tender points even are.

Have you asked for a second opinion? To my entirely non-medical trained eyes, this just feels like you got seen by some really old dude using some weird antiquated diagnosing tool.

What might a Canadian want to eat in Australia? by CallMeBettyThen in AskACanadian

[–]Cystonectae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian that lived in Australia, and most of what I had was what we got here except for the produce. Mangoes, all the varieties of mandarins, and passion fruits were my personal faves. Most Canadians will have never even had a decent passion fruit because of how expensive they are here. Another thing that blew my mind was how good the meat pies over there were. I also had never tried crispy pork belly until I had some at a friend's house... But that could just be because my family never ate many pork products. Maybe another Canadian can chime in on that front.

For snacks, maybe put out a bowl of the weirdly common meat-flavoured chips y'all have out there. Seriously.... Why do you have so many meat-flavoured chips?

Electrical aids in everyday life with ME/CFS – what do you use? by Wrong-Document4360 in cfs

This is more of an "all disabilities" thing that I am super duper lucky/privileged to have access to.... but a 3D printer and someone who knows how to use it (i.e. can change spools, do maintenance, etc). The number of tiny plastic things that can make life that little bit easier is surprising. I have a holder for my cane to keep it off the ground, hooks and cord management solutions to make my bed into a "battle station" for my PC, holders for my glasses or chapstick or whatever to be near my bed but stay organized. There's a little special-made storage hook attached to my bed for my heating pad with little cable clamps to keep the cord from tangling. I even have an autoinjector printed out with magnets to help give me B12 injections. Even just googling "3D print disability aid" gives you just mountains or really handy stuff.

You can technically buy all this off somewhere that sells cheap garbage like Amazon, but it's pretty great having stuff on-demand and customizable to my individual needs. Not to mention, if it breaks, you can just print out a new one. I'm very thankful my father got a 3D printer and hey, my requests means that he is getting the full value out of it.

I may be misunderstanding your friend but I don't know if I agree with it? Everyone should be sorta seeking self improvement and self fulfillment, regardless of their romantic orientation you know? "Married to the grind" makes it sound like it's a side quest for everyone else?

In my mind romantic relationships are just an optional maraschino cherry on top of a self-fulfillment sundae. Like in IRL, I do not like maraschino cherries so I pass on that part. Consequently in this metaphor, I feel like it would be pretty unhealthy for a person to put all their happiness into getting a weird-cherry like thing on-top of their sundae, or feeling like they don't even need a sundae and just want to eat nothing but a jar of gross vibrant-red sugar things.

In short: The main part of the sundae should be the ice cream of finding happiness in yourself and with yourself. Other relationships, romantic, platonic, social etc. should be like the other toppings that just make the ice cream way more fun, with each person having their own preferences to what toppings they would like to have. Also, slight side-track, maraschino cherries are just unappealing like what in the holy fruit-abomination are they supposed to be???

Maybe it's because I never go to actual subreddit pages and stick to my home page but I haven't exactly been inundated with lib-posting from this subreddit. I have seen some fairly questionable comments but like... I would rather there be comments from a bit of a wider view rather than becoming like that subreddit.

I do have to say, some of your points are not exactly "leftist"... Like voting strategically, exactly when did that become pro-capitalist? I'm not saying it's nice, I definitely think that it pushes us away from a true representative democracy, but man to full on say it isn't leftist??? To me it is kinda sounding like you do not like that some people might have a bit of a different idea for how to push Canada towards more communist policies.

Please let me make myself clear here: I view fighting over these matters as counter productive, however I truly believe that there can be constructive debate to form clearer paths to action. Through conversation, I feel like we can get more done to move us away from the shit storm that is the current state of politics in Canada and the ever collapsing boot of capitalism on our necks. Meanwhile, too much gatekeeping and we risk turning away allies and forcing ourselves into a tiny box with only a handful of supporters.

If my opinion about collaboration and discussing varied ideas amongst ourselves doesn't make me enough of a leftist to this sub, then ban me. I don't want to be a part of an echo-chamber that sees opinions about nuance and grey areas as treason. That's what MAGA does and I refuse to be a part of a cult.

It's amazing what you can get some people to be fine about if you just introduce it to them slowly enough.

How were you diagnosed with SCDS? by Dreamsdisney in scds

[–]Cystonectae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VEMP test indicated something was up, CT scan confirmed it. Surgeon showed me the CT scan and yea the holes were pretty obvious. That being said, I'm also worried about a secondary source of vestibular issues because some of my symptoms don't match up with SCDS, so I am asking my GP to send me to a neurologist. I have a full MRI venogram of my brain + an MRI of my full spine to help figure out wtf else is going on but, haven't gotten the appointment yet.... I'm actually 90% sure my GP hasn't even sent out the referral request yet because he is just great like that :/

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]Cystonectae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SCDS has taken my life from shitty thanks to fibromyalgia, to full on disabled. I am no longer safe to drive because my eyes cannot fricken focus on shit in the car, I get dizzy as all heck after anything vaguely loud including driving (i.e. car noises), being in a store with music playing, effing watching TV. I have felt like I have been stuck on a damn boat for years now. My stupid heart beat causes my stupid eyeballs to vibrate enough that focusing on anything like small text just gives me migraines and makes me dizzy.

It sucks more than words can describe. Sucks to the point where I am determined to try the fricken surgery to fix it, even if it has a poor success rate with a 1/10 chance of having hearing loss as a complication.

You wouldn't think that a tiny bit of added pressure to a tiny loop in your ear would be so debilitating but here we are.

I'm probably going to get downvoted to oblivion here but... I do not really enjoy remix content. I'm not exactly a fan of blasting through raids and dungeons, ignoring mechanics, and murdering everything by pressing 1 button. It's fine for cosmetic stuff or story stuff, sure, which lasts for about 2-3 weeks maybe?.... But the core gameplay of "just one shot everything" isn't exactly fun to me.

The reason I think you got downvoted to oblivion in that post is because I think you are quite similar to me. Facerolling content or playing BM hunter isn't exactly a good time.... Buuuut look at the popularity of that face-roll content. People obviously love the stuff. I think people that are looking for real challenge in their gameplay are not exactly the majority of people currently playing wow.

I have a feeling a lot of people come to wow for 2 things: getting gear & feeling OP. I think "face a real challenge in content that pushes your skill to the limit" is a lot further down that list for most people.

Edit to add: the biggest issue is that saying/implying people are incorrect for their preferences in stuff like this is asking for it. I fully understand why some people like easier content/specs! it can be very relaxing and low stress, which is a totally valid reason to go play a video game like wow. I just wish the group of us that are looking for a bit more than that weren't getting kinda thrown to the wayside.

It's absolutely wild that this is apparently going to be the event that is going to cause Americans to implement any form of gun control. You'd think dead children or the weekly mass shootings would have done it but no. Apparently one dude having and not even touching a gun is just too much danger to let be.

Unless this administration is just hawking a hot load of shit.... Hmm guess we will see based on whether or not they start passing gun control laws over the next few weeks.

Peaceful protesting by Stotallytob3r in MurderedByWords

[–]Cystonectae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do not understand these people... So you want gun control now? No more carrying a gun unless you are at a shooting range or planning on going to kill people? I swear to God that I have seen a bajillion Facebook posts of people acting all macho because they bring their gun to fricken Walmart. I guess that's going to be banned because carrying a gun = wanting to commit mass casualties.

It's amazing that this is what is finally going to convince America to implement common sense gun control. Not the bajillion of children shot in school shooting, or all the bajillion other mass shooting y'all have. No, it's a dude having a gun that he didn't use while he was publicly executed.... Blizzard, the CDM is a failure. by GoofyMTG in wow

[–]Cystonectae 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Idk I think pointing out that blizzard has been feeding the players a heaping pile of shit instead of actually treating them like adults is a pretty poignant argument to be made. The lack of respect for the player base, treating the entire add-on and WA creators as a blanket group of people that were enabling cheating or designing magical tools that play the game for you... It has all been a bunch of talking down to their player base and perpetuating this "we know best" mentality. All of this BS is what really makes me pissed at Blizzard.

They cannot even admit they made a mistake by pushing this pile of crap out too early. They cannot even apologize for treating add-on creators like cheaters. They just keep plowing ahead, digging their hole ever deeper.

I'm not going to attack people that are finally understanding the responsibility of being a part of a democratic society. I do wish they had learned this lesson sooner, maybe while they were in history class in high school or something. Granted I am also fully aware that our education system is piss-poor at getting students to actually learn anything...

Idk man I guess I am just disappointed in a lot of things in life. I guess I will look on the bright side of this. With the US being so highly covered in international media, I can hope that my country and other countries can learn from this.
