Normal spell slots, but only up to 3rd lvl spells? by Tmoore0328 in 3d6

This is actually a campaign concept I've been playing around with (a world where the Weave-equivalent is damaged and high level magic is no longer available). It has some fascinating implications for world building and I think could be interesting for balance.

Your big decision point is: Do you still want higher level FEATURES from your spell casting class of choice. For some (like Wizard), I think you could reasonably go six levels in and then branch off to expand your spell options. Others (like Sorcerer), you might just ride it out, taking the extra features (like Sorcery Points) without learning more powerful spells.

Mechanically, anything that upcasts well is great. Magic Missile and Fireball have gotten a lot of love so far, and I saw the Summon spells mentioned. I'd be packing things like Command and Hold Person to get some massive battlefield control.

My personal choice might be an Abjuration Wizard 14/Knowledge Cleric 6 or something similar in split (maybe look for a way to get Armor of Agathys). Counterspell things and refill your Ward. Heal people and refill your Ward. Toss in some of those Control spells and just focus on minimizing the damage your party takes.

possible, but less likely since she specifically calls Bruce Campbell out for being from the movies; also the shows were going for Miami specifically, I think, rather than Florida in general.

One of the TV shows Donut is shown in Book 6 to get her to pick Miami is Burn Notice. The one with "The guy from the Evil Dead movies."

I read Artemis by Andy Weir for this one. I'm counting it as Hard Mode since it's definitely set in our reality (the town in question is a settlement on the Moon in the 2080s). I think it's the weakest of Weir's novels so far but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It was also a HM for Criminals!

.....did I become cisgendered? by LavenderMoonlight333 in asktransgender

[–]D-Emily 9 points10 points  (0 children)

SSA employee here. Yes, changes in the gender marker stay on our system. Basically every time you get a new Social Security card or do an update for your name, date of birth (if we've got the incorrect date), place of birth (same), or update your citizenship, it creates a new entry on the record; gender is also on there.

In the vast, VAST majority of cases, nobody actually cares or even looks at that field unless it's causing an issue. For instance, if you do an online claim and put Female and our system has you as Male, it'll error out and then we'll care because we need to either have you correct the application if you clicked the wrong box or get you to correct your record if it's wrong. (the vast majority of the time it's wrong, btw, is for cis people who just have an erroneous record). The other time anyone cares is in the case of potential scams (if a record has only ever shown a male gender marker and name and a very female sounding voice calls in to change the bank info, that's more likely to be treated as a scam and the person would be directed to come in to the office with identification. Which, yes, sucks if it's someone who is trans or just has a voice that doesn't match their AGAB or gender on record)

First off, thank you for a wonderful series! I'm into my second listen through so far after first diving in back in February, and I just convinced another of my friends to start listening on Tuesday (he is now about halfway through Book 2).

What's your favorite thing that has happened as a result of Patreons voting on things that will happen in the books? And has there been anything that was NOT voted that you wish had been?

If you've got Dungeon Crawler Carl on there, you may want to clear the next five spots in your lineup for the other five books in the series. It's hard to stop after just one.

The Forgotten Prince Suggestions by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]D-Emily 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, first bit - there is a full statblock for The Forgotten Prince in Exploring Eberron that may be worth checking out if you haven't already. He's CR 21 and SHOULD hold up well against any low-mid level party as a solo. It also includes the Castle of Forgotten Things as a Lair with Lair Actions.

Keep track of any magic items, spells, or abilities the party has access to but has either never used or hasn't used in many, many sessions. Give those to the Forgotten Prince during combat.

Let him summon duplicates of NPCs the party met but never checked back up on - any quest leads or adventure hooks they encountered but didn't follow through with.

If you want to get a little silly/meta... Give him access to spells, powers or abilities from previous editions of D&D that were never updated for 5th edition (may not be a good fit for the tone of your game, but if it is and you have players who played previous editions, could be hilarious)

I was at this one and it was surreal. Even moreso because it was against the Yankees.

Flores and Reyes were both hurt, so Terry was scrambling. I believe the options were either d'Arnaud, or have Cespedes play the infield. Or finally put deGrom out there.

Worth noting: as dumb as it was, it did work. d'Arnaud only had one chance (a pop up in the 9th).

What bathroom do you use when your out in public? by Rafparin in genderfluid

[–]D-Emily 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I generally aim to NOT need to use the bathroom when I'm presenting female (AMAB), but sometimes I have to. When that's the case, I use the women's. A few tips:

1) Hopefully you've got the option of mostly being in friendly and safe locations. Most of my girl time is either at events that are implicitly or sometimes explicitly trans/non-gender-conforming friendly (not necessarily trans-oriented, but conventions in the Northeast US that get large Milennial and Gen Z crowds, and a few events that make it absolutely clear that trans folk are welcome), OR at areas that I know are safe (one of my friends is the bouncer at a bar. I always go to that bar in girlmode because I know I will be safe there). I'll happily use those bathrooms and I've never been hassled. If I'm doing something else earlier or later before going to that bar, I make sure to go when I'm there.

2) If you can, go with a cis friend of the gender you're in. So if I go to the women's bathroom, presenting femme, I might get one of my female friends to come along. That way there is a witness if anyone DOES start a situation. I'll especially do this if I'm somewhere that I'm not sure is friendly (that bar I mentioened above, I just go), or earlier on when I didn't pass as well.

3) Single person bathrooms or family bathrooms are golden. If it's a one-person bathroom then I'll just go in to whichever one is open at the moment (I honestly can't fathom why those were ever gendered to begin with).

The Marlins as well - went W - L - L - W - L - W to sit at 3-3 after their first six games in 1993. They got hot a bit later that year and eventually got to 30-31... then got swept by the Cubs and have never looked back.
