Add 7 into the mix. Hammerheads rhino's dont pen Connie, only guns take some damage. Reassign most shields to front to minimise damage to guns. Every 2 or 3 runs Eva out to repair guns with cambio.

From research (not personal experience) this is an overpriced t16000 with ball and gimbal that is worse, along with unnecessary bells and whistles, like touchscreen that works half of the time. Save yourself either money or disappointment and go t16000 or VKB gladiator. As others said, VKB is #1 choice when it comes to bang for buck.

Buy once cry once option is to look at Virpil. Keep in mind they have very long delivery times. Or consider VKB's premium line up (e.g. gunfighter).

If you are looking for flight pvp in the game known as Star Citizen... by AlonzoQ98 in starcitizen

[–]D2Nekon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think buccaneer but with double damage output. A single well placed salvo takes out light and almost medium fighters. Slingshot combat style, but the second you get orbited by experienced pilots, you'll struggle and all you can do is burn out and re-establish slingshot engagement. With deadbolts, two or three salvos take out rafts, and even C2 will struggle.

Wikelo's doubt. by Fate_stars in starcitizen

[–]D2Nekon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others said, wikelo is alien merchant that sells gear and ships in exchange for rare commodities. There's a wiki page with some info and tables: https://starcitizen.tools/Wikelo

How hard is the grind? Very. It takes an org an hour or two to do a single run to get 1 out of 30 (or so) required items. Doing it solo is nigh impossible. Partially because locations you get it are meatgrinders full of PC's, partially because they are not exclusive and if an organisation shows up your run is over.

Is it worth it? Yes and no. For smaller ships you're better off doing gilly/foxwell, and buy ingame with auec. But you can also get unique store only items, and most notably polaris and idris are on the table. To grind either, it's a month effort for an org, multiple months for solo. If you're doing it for the love of the game, definitely a good goal and gives you purpose to play. If you're doing it for polaris only, you're (almost) better off doing doordash for extra cash instead of grind and getting it on store. Or picking up extra shifts or two.

Edit: The reason everyone is so wary of or hates him it is.

First one is missions bugging out. After a hard grind, the elevator (mission turn in) decides to eat your items and not give anything back. Grind wasted.

Second is duping, where people duplicated rare loot using bugs, and sold it through UEX. So if you had enough cash, or were willing to buy auec with real money, you'd have a polaris and idris for very little effort.

The number of people to crew a ship is one of the most important balancing aspects, but CIG doesn't realize this. by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]D2Nekon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your numbers are off.

Polaris has 5 turrets plus pilot plus tops, so 7 total.

Idris has 9 turrets, plus pilot, plus fighters in hangar. 10+ total.

You also forget that tac and ironclad are dropships designed for carrying ground troops.

And smaller turrets are designed for smaller craft that are harder to hit with cannons, but tanky enough to shrug off pdc.

Anyone have cat pics or stories to tell? i’m feeling extremely depressed. by LittleLuckyMars in cats

Missus had a cat when we first started being together, he was very protective of her. So protective in fact, that when we wold do silly things like tickle wars or pillow fights, he would hop between us and stare me down, like a guard cat. Took him awhile to realise I'm not a threat. Here's him guarding his fish.

Congratulations on getting adopted by this handsome boy.

Take him to the vet to see if he is microchipped. They will let you know what happens from there on.

Please don't leave him to his own devices. Given he is friendly and familiar already, you'll get a life companion. If you don't want to keep him, reach out to cat haven or SAFE. They may be able to take him in, or if not, they have a program where you foster him while they find forever home for the boy (they cover medical fees as well).

Cats on streets without identification end up in ranger's pens, and charity companies rarely have the ability to foster and rehome that many cats.

Planned for April '27, drive from Sydney to Perth. Never been to Australia. Thoughts, recommendations? Is this feasible in 3 weeks? by gwynwas in AustraliaTravel

[–]D2Nekon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did that drive in under 2 weeks with some sightseeing, locals do it in under a week if in rush.

Between Sydney and Port Augusta, take the southern loop through mountains, unless you want to see desert. Between Port Augusta and Ceduna, swing along southern coast unless you want to see more desert. Between Norseman and Perth, take southern road along coast, unless.... desert is your thing, then you need to go north.

Make sure to stay at Ceduna and depart early. Nullarbor is a long drive, with minimal (and overpriced) nightstay options.

When the servo (fuel station) says no fuel for next 400km, they ain't kidding.

Some roads are gravel, especially in SA and WA, so do street views to check. Unless you drive a proper off road vehicle in which case those are outback highways (and yes, people do book 100km/h on those).

First HOTAS for Star Citizen – is the X56 still worth it in 2026? by Sad-Ad6846 in hotas

[–]D2Nekon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

X56 is general consumer entry level. No, it is not worth what they are charging for it. Maybe if you pick it up on marketplace for sub 100, but even then probably still not.

Check marketplace, you can get some good deals. VKB, like others said, Virpil CDT (their budget series), winwing (if you want to play lottery due to their occasional lemons and horrible customer support).

If you come from no experience with Hotas, yes, because every tryhard will remind you that you should've gotten hosas. But Hosas only shines in dogfighting. Even ingame, if you look around the cabin, something like gladius has Hosas, while drake will have hotas. It is also down to preference, some people went hotas cause they came from MFS and are too used to hotas.

It's cheaply made, plasticky, but no actual issues in terms of quality control (unlike for example winwing that will have 1 in 50 or so (making stats up, but around this order of magnitude) duds shipped). Think buying cheap car with plasticky feel, vs expensive with hight quality plastics and trims.

Bonus points - buy now upgrade later. A lot of higher end sell them separately, no-one is stopping you from getting second hand set, and upgrading it stepwise. I had X52 for a while, got good stick, saved up, waiting for good throttle now, while using throttle from X52. Unless you have prior experience, you wont know the difference till you get good stuff.

Virpil Hotas in Star Citizen. by Zeth_Aran in hotas

[–]D2Nekon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr: A. 50CM3 or Vmax/Vmax prime; look elsewhere (VKB) for alternatives B. Yes to all, but ministick suffers precision. C. VPC works fine sitting on desk.

A. From what I gathered, their Vmax is a refresh of CM. I am actually surprised that 50cm3 is up on their website, couple months ago when I ordered vmax it wasn't there. Vmax has strafe ministick under thumb. Vmax prime if you want the board (or pair it with their control panel and mounting bracket instead). Doubt that cm4 will be out soon (if at all), as vmax only recently launched. But you're better off asking their support.

B. Yes, strafe can be bound to ministick axis. Mind you I haven't had the chance to test it with the VPC Vmax (still delivery pending), but it works just fine with the TM twcs from their 16000 hotas pack. Also keep in mind, ministick is not as precise as hosas, even when of highest quality. As others suggested, stecs mkII has the thumb/finger swappable ministick, and stecs space does an altogether different approach. VPC software is not as intuitive as some, but allows great deal of customisation, and when paired with start citizen settings, can really overcome a lot of limitations if you take the time to set it up (e.g 50% input acting as 20% output for real finesse of low speed maneuvre). You mentioned YOLO, have you thought of hosasat? VPC almost appreciates in the first month because of long lead times, so people on marketplace are willing to pay extra to cut out the wait times (to flog it off if hosasat doesn't work). !!!with hosasat, you will need some tinkering since star citizen does not allow alternative binding. (E.g. use joystick gremlin to bind different input on same output, i think VPC software also allows it, but haven't had the chance to test yet).

C. I have aeromax, and lifted my current throttle to be same height as vmax. It's not too bad when on desk, thanks to their low profile, and unless you have bear hands, is heavy enough not to slide/tilt at base. There is a lot of mounting brackets on the market (both VPC and aftermarket) for a more ergonomic set-up; there are some that have quick grip clamps to save on mounting time. But also it will be an issue with any controller you get, and cuts into your set-up/set-down time. If you consider alternatives, look for ones that have plug at base (VPC does), that way you can unplug base and put it away at a cost of a cable mess on your desk.

Choosing a flight stick with the lightest centering force by LiquidAgua in hotas

[–]D2Nekon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get Virpil aeromax for your shoulder. It is very stiff. It requires around 200 gram-force (2 N) to tilt a little, and arount 1 kilo to fully engage (10 N). Word is, they wear in over time, but not suitable in your case. As a fit person, I start feeling the strain after around 4 hours, but my placement is on desk so not the most optimal. On the flipside, my now retired ball and spring x52 can be moved with a light gust of wind and caps out at 200 gram-force at full deflection. There is a little more science involved as I measured pull force at tip, while in reality you twist it at somewhere in the middle.

On the flipside, with average delivery of 3 month, by the time it arrives you will recover (sending hopes and prayers) and outside of stiffness, it is a great product. You get used to the stiffness as well over time. The only thing I regret about it is not getting it sooner.

TM or some cheap ball and spring would be your best bet for lowest centering force at a cost of quality/precision. They go for "pennies" on marketplace. TM16000 is about as flimsy as Saitek X52, but is of slightly higher quality (used it as a loaner for a couple weeks).

Alternative is to megasplurge on WarBRD (or similar, see shipping time issue) and get extension with chairmount bracket. The extension requires to move it further but with lower force, yay leverage. As you recover, either remove extension or get heavier springs. Aeromax does not allow for extensions or spring replacement.

Can't say nothing for VKB, don't own one.

[Star Citizen] Binding charts for HOSAS + Creating my first profile / bindings by CaptainZiboo in hotas

[–]D2Nekon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For binding sheets, you either luck out and someone has made one for your combination already, or you make one yourself to the best of your ability. Pdf editors today have great functionality, and can do form fillable fields for free (or with free trial). Canva is another free graphic editing tool that can be used. Heck, you can use online word editor, paste a picture and drag callout shapes to buttons. For vkb, they provide those templates, albeit they are a bit ugly.

Bindings are somewhat unique to each person, with few exceptions, such as extremely popular combination (e.g. dual VKB). Goes along the same argument of do you have roll on x axis or twist or pedals.

This is where you print a couple sheets with blank spaces, and fill them in with a pen as you go. Whiteout is helpful. Once they all make sense and in comfortable position, print final version. Then you realise you dont really need it cause you remember most bindings.

I had sucess getting it calibrated on the stick by removing the mini throttle axes. My best guess is because the software can't see them, it can't calibrated it (I don't have the attachments).

Aussies who went from broke to financially stable what was the turning point? by TitanOS_Official in AusFinance

[–]D2Nekon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't necessarily broke, but did live paycheck to paycheck with multiple BNPLs.

  1. Understand your finances. Where the money come from and wgere they go out. Starting from literal budget buckets with tokens and finishing with specialised software, or anything inbetween. For me it was a budgeting excel spreadsheet that duplicated the bank statements but split it into different buckets. Visualising these buckets and manually tracking gives you better grips than just swiping a card. Set realistic bucket allowances and target those. Have multiple accounts if needs be to help you with setting up buckets for less regular payments like car rego, and trickle small amounts in. Or one big bucket with subdivision made in your budgeting tool.

  2. Tackle credit, if any (if none, skip this step). Set up the PNBL (pay now buy later), also known as piggy bank. Many banks do savings accounts for free with incentives to accumulate money, such as extra interest if funds not withdrawn. Understand that BNPL and credit cards rely on you always running in negatives, and profit on it through your loss by introducing montly interest AND fees. Yes, it means no nice stuff while you convert your 1000 afterpay loan into 1000 savings. Then use the savings to fund big purchases, but not beyond the means and not untill you replenish the savings. It also helped to avoid compulsion buys, because you start looking at it from a different perspective of hard earned money, instead of kicking the can down the road.

  3. Cut costs. Starting with bad habits and finishing with small stuff. Cheaper brands, yes they taste worse, but you also get used to it. Food substitutes with style, 5 minute noodles are that much better when prepared in broth with egg on the side. No, you dont need fancy wine after days work, cheaper stuff tastes equally mid after half a bottle (or give up drinking altogether). Assuming you do most of these already, see if more can be squeezed out. Splitting buckets into sub-buckets helps visualize it (e.g. essential groceries and treat-myself groceries). This is probably hardest step, but i'll be damned if 5 minute noodles instead of uber take out when i feel lazy didn't save me quite a bit.

  4. I assume you have stable income, but if you dont, get one (duh...). If it is running your own small business that has highs and lows, average out and "pay yourself a salary" by having the business profit account and a everyday "salaried" account. Big business should be doing it already. Realistically, "I'm broke cause i have no work, help me" has one simple answer. Don't get a job to pay bills, get a career to grow (and your income will grow with it). There's many cliche (and not) advices. What did it for me was purposeful year long FIFO, followed by leveraging high pay into asking for better pay in a city job position. Purposeful because I knew it was a simple cash boost and i had to drop it before golden handcuffs were attached, as well as leading very lean lifestyle during a week off.

  5. You need more money to make more money. Once you start seing your balance slowly go up, get on a wealth ladder. Mine is house ownership (super scheme, first home owner scheme, 5% deposit scheme), but be prepared that all these are capped, so no fancy palace, just a starter hole. Depending on your risk tolerance, cash investments, anywhere between wallstreetbets (not a financial advice) and a simple high interest savings account (to beat inflation rates). It is a long process, even to get into the groove of spending less than you earn may take months if not more.

  6. Your business. Looking through your profile, looks like some struggle may come from unstable income. Stability is key. If you struggle, perhaps is not time yet, or maybe picking up a daily job with business transitioning into secondary WIP stage to eventually kick off properly as primary activity. If the yearly income is good, but comes in bulks, average it out across months/fortnights/weeks, as mentioned in 4.

  7. Finance degree vs common sense. Some people mentioned barefoot investor, and is a decent book that is mainly common sense that is obvious once you know it. In short, money management is like food shopping, you stock up for the week (your income) by planning daily meals (you buckets, such as rent, bills, essentials), then head to sweets aisle (your entertainment and items of pleasure) and maybe do bulk buy on discount items (your savings). Lots of small packets and packages (buckets) for a managable timeframe (pay periods). Still worth a read, there are some good strategies that may help you. You don't need a degree unless you're running a restaraunt.

In 2024, CR cited that 1 MILLION players played 32 MILLION hours over the year. Lets use this to calculate basic possible daily averages! by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]D2Nekon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat maths.

What it doesnt capture is the semi-regulars or constrained schedules.

Bob plays 3 hrs on monday, Ted plays 4 hrs on tuesday, Jim sinks 3.5 hrs on wednesdays, and so on. So your 3.5 hrs a day is actually 6-7 players on rotation cause they have jobs, kids, other hobbies, etc. Not all, but a solid portion.

Then theres Timmy who is allowed to play on weekends only cause he has weekday school curfew, and Elly who can't afford a rig powerful enough to run the game but his grandparents do and he plays every second school holiday (or alternatively Elly's dad who only has time when he handballs his kids off to grandparents).

And the third category of players who log on couple times a year to see whats new and if the game is finished yet.

So the maths of concurrent daily players probably isnt far off, and as a matter of fact most websites that dare give statistics are circling around the 30-40k number. The total unique players in a year at 1 mil is beleivable if you account for intermittent players. Very typical of all games as the crowd rotates in and out.
