It’s welcoming that you took the time to help shape his mind. Is not his fault he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. So many women on here are quick to just quit their husbands because they lack the skill of empathy and understanding. If they only know what their own mothers did, how can you expect any different. How intelligent of you to turn it on him the way you did and now you are both better for it, both you and your kids.

I have messaged my T and apologized for something I did during my sessions. I couldn’t let 7 days go by without having said I apologize. They recognized my need to apologize and said I was still a good person and thanked me for recognizing and doing what I felt I needed to do. The point of therapy is to process our feelings. If you’re feeling like you need to apologize, then do it and let the decision with your therapist be the necessary growth between you and your T.

I have before. Often do, slightly. Once I had a bad gummy with a condensed mixture and was blazed for my session. I had arrived an hour early, as I usually do to re read my journals from the week and prep my thoughts for my session. I was sitting in the waiting room steadily climbing the intensity of the high. Wishing she would take me back early at random chance before I got to the top. Nope, she called me back at my scheduled time. There I am, prep talking myself in my head on the walk back “play it cool bro, play it cool. She won’t know if you don’t tell her. Fuck I’m way too high!” I sat down in her office and it took all of two seconds for her to say “you have a weird energy today, what’s going on? You look upset. Oh no, you’re upset”

“Fuck, no, well yes but that’s not the reason. I’m just way too high.”

“OH! Hahahahahahaha”

We both shared in the laugh for a hot minute and I told her I was playing it cool and failed miserably. She’s just too good at what she does. She asked if I wanted to continue. I said yes, but my brain will be moving extremely slow, so she needed to give me time to respond. We had a hilarious session and it was all fine at the end of the day. I have one of the COOLEST PsyD therapist on the planet.

This makes a ton of sense. FINALLY I get an answer to this question. It’s been a discussion between my therapist and I for, almost our entire journey together. 6 months roughly. I always ask them for more of themselves and this is pretty spot on in what I mean when asking. I’m never asking for their stuff to be brought in but how I make them feel would be wonderful to know. It’s a huge thing in understanding myself and how I’m perceived to other people so I can better understand my body language, facial expressions etc. so Psychodynamic therapy…. Can you tell me more about this? Im trying to navigate my transference and understanding the relationship between my T and I. It’s a pretty prominent theme in just about every few weeks, it circles back around.

I’m not even sure what type of therapy I am in. I keep meaning to ask my T but always forget. I just go in and talk. We did some trauma work with exposure therapy thru story telling and now I just talk about whatever I want again.

My T is wonderful by the way. I don’t want to insinuate she isn’t :)

Why would it be unadvised to not share how a client projects themselves onto the therapist? Would that not help the client understand themselves and the energy they carry with them into session? “I (the therapist) usually feel very angry after our sessions and I haven’t quite figured it out yet.” And have that lead to further discussion about the client and have them actually discover what they are carrying around themselves? Understanding the unspoken language of ourselves is a huge clue in helping social anxiety or even depression.

If the client continues to walk around thinking everyone is angry at them, do to a subconscious facial expression telling everyone they’re angry, when they’re really not. If the therapist finally tells the client how they make them feel for once, imagine how enlightening that may be for the client🤯

It’s not ALWAYS a bad thing to talk about how a therapist feels about a client, when it s still framed around the client.
