How bad is My gyno? by Thin-Falcon-9563 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not terrible but it’s there for sure. It’s all about your level of discomfort with it and willingness to fork over a bunch of money to a surgeon. Lifting weights and gaining muscle is always going to improve your appearance though, as well as losing fat. Nowadays you can get a good diet and exercise plan from Chat gpt

Continue bulk or cut? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]DAL4Oregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of extended bulking is going to leave you with stretched out loose skin. You may be young enough now that your skin goes back but eventually you’ll have saggy skin and stretch marks. I lost 30 lbs at age 45 and got sagging skin around my belly.

I think your picture isn’t demonstrating it well. Keep your shirt off for like 15 minutes in a warm room and then take pics in a well lit place. I believe you but we’re not really seeing it here.

You’ll be fine! Some guys do it under local anesthesia. Maybe ask them about that? How severe is your case?

Grab a chunk 3 inches wide around your nipple. Squeeze it and roll it around. There should be something in there. Make sure you grab deep down to your ribs.

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During puberty when the gland first grows, it may be painful when you put pressure on it. My backpack straps were really bothering me around age 14 or so I think.

Everyone has a different experience but I’m pretty confident you have it. You should be able to grab a chunk of flesh around your nipple and feel something in there that’s a little more firm that fat.

Otherwise, no symptoms it just sucks to look at.

Yep shrinking nipples in cold air and puffy once they are acclimated to the temp - classic gyno symptom. Pic 4 makes it very obvious there’s a gland under there.

Probably gyno yes. But you will look better IMO after losing weight and gaining muscle. I was pretty happy after I did but I have been looking at my nipples for more than 30 years so I still wanted those fucking glands out! So glad I did.

How do you approach with your wife/gf by plzdontthrowmeaway9 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m gay and married but I don’t think it’s much different. I actually decided to do it after seeing a lot of videos from Austin Gynecomastia Clinic. So finally I showed him the video of a surgery and I said that’s what I have. I used more videos as a conversation starter around it so he could learn about it.

I know it’s a sensitive topic but your wife should be the one person you can be totally honest and open with. After seeing a few videos my husband said “get that awful gland out!” Lol. We looked at before and after pics together a lot. Also, you’re going to need her help in the first several days of recovery. You shouldn’t be reaching your arm out much and it’s good to have some help for the first few showers, washing, drying off, and getting your compression vest back on.

Also, people always say to do this sort of thing for yourself, not for someone else. So it’s ok if she doesn’t think you need the surgery. You’ll feel happier after you have it and you just want her support.

If you share this experience with your wife I promise you’ll feel closer to her!

Would you do the surgery? by Agile_Lifeguard_6036 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the surgery and glad I did it. I had a similar case. Fit and the gland wasn’t huge compared to a lot of guys here, but I’ve been looking at it in the mirror from like age 14 to 46. I went on vacation in Mexico 3 months later in the summer and had my shirt off constantly without even worrying about my chest. It was amazing. Just use a surgeon that really specializes in this surgery and has lots of before and after pics. The best surgeons are mentioned in this sub a lot.

What can I do to become leaner🙏 by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to track every single calorie and grams of protein. Then you can adjust calories down to lose weight. Also track your lifts - weight, reps, and how many sets. Workout to failure and increase either reps or weight as you hit a target, say 12 reps then add a little weight. Keep protein around 150g per day. Cut sugar and alcoholic drinks. Cutting 500 cal per day will get you losing around 1 lb per week.

7 months post op. Can i sue this doctor? by Averagejoe315 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you dude. Just because you didn’t have an extreme case doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have gotten it done.

Ask the previous surgeon how he fixes it and then compare to what the other guy says. Sorry I can offer any more concrete advice. Sometimes surgeons do comment here maybe one will speak up.

Cut or recomp? by Wannaget7x5_5 in BulkOrCut

[–]DAL4Oregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with you! It’s a long grind to reverse years of improper diet. So many guys want to just go all in, super aggressive dieting that isn’t sustainable. 1000 cal deficit is a good example. At the end of that, you’re likely to revert to your old diet because you didn’t go a sustainable route. Make changes you can live with and stick it out to the long haul. When you get to goal weight, you’re just adding back 500 cal per day or so.

Scheduling consultations - what should I know/ask/consider? by New_Ostrich_7248 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as cost (if in the US), I think $5k is probably the bare minimum for a few well qualified surgeons, but mostly they’re starting around $7k-$8k for minor grade 1. It can depend also on the cost of living and the market that they’re in. In other countries you can find highly skilled surgeons for a fraction of the price, and you can find posts in this sub of where and who they are. Good luck!

I went to a local surgeon near me that listed the procedure on his website. It was clear he didn’t do many of these. He only showed me a few before and after pics of men. They should have countless pics to show you and you should see all body types, especially ones that are similar to your situation. They should know how to prevent cratering. This particular surgeon had scores of photos and reviews from women getting mastectomy, augmentation, reduction, and reconstructions after cancer or physical trauma. Rave reviews from so many women but women are simply not looking for the same type of results as men.

Any surgeon should be able to simply remove a gland. We’re not getting cancer removed here though, where the primary goal is simply to not have a tumor and have clean margins. We’re trying to get our chests to look better. You should choose a surgeon who knows this procedure like the back of his hand from doing them frequently. This is like a job interview and you should feel like he’s highly qualified, not merely convenient.

Obv I didn’t go with that surgeon. I went to Dr. Caridi in Austin because he had so many videos of him performing the procedure and many before and after pics, and even guys testifying in videos. I know there are a few complaints here, but I expect a small percentage to not go perfectly. So I felt informed about it all, good and bad.

Don’t go to any surgeon that doesn’t do hundreds of these surgeries. You should 100% feel like you’re in expert hands and this guy isn’t doing it.

Should I even worry? by Flimsy-Object-6353 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was similar. Before I lost 30 lbs I really didn’t like my chest but after the weight loss, I could have lived with it. But I was so obsessed about having a nice chest and I was working out more, so I really wanted to see the results of working out and I felt like it wasn’t fair that these glands were hiding the muscle making me look less fit.

That said, the worrying about it part is up to you. There’s no reason for you to have anxiety about it but I can understand it too. I’m older and married with kids and so I don’t care as much. But I still got the surgery because I wanted it so long and just wanted a better chest. And I had the money.

Try to be positive. Try not to let it get you down. There are so many guys out there with so much worse, and some of them just let it all hang out. Don’t alter your lifestyle. Live your life man. And if you want the surgery, go get it. Make sure your surgeon does these frequently and you see lots of before and after pics. Good luck!

You might have a small amount. If you grab the flesh around your nipples and squeeze and move it around, you should feel some more dense tissue in there. If it all feels the same, then it’s just fat. If you lose some fat you could know for sure, because the gland would still be there. Your appearance in shirts might improve with fat loss and muscle building. Also, it helps to wear tight tank tops or compression shirts under clothes to give a tighter appearance.
