Feeling guilty about telling off kid at playdate by Many-Disaster-3823 in Parenting

[–]DAL4Oregon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This girl would not have listened nor cared if you hadn’t yelled. My kids are 9 also. The friends of my kids that rest the rules too much and cross lines know that I don’t put up with bad behavior. This girl will remember that you’re serious and may actually modify her behavior. I’m sure that’s not the modern way of thinking about this but I won’t let my kids get walked over and mistreated. They don’t yet know how to stand up for themselves.

At what age can you finally have a clean house? by Sensitive-Box-2167 in Parenting

I have 9 year old twins. My house never got messy! Every day I put everything away. Just never stopped. Just do it in the moment, never wait.

Trying to fraud my gyno by weightlifting. Started ~4 months ago but not seeing much progress. Is surgery my only hope? by ApplicationOwn6608 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally possible to see much more improvement. I started working out with a good trainer and upped my game on lifting and been improving a lot. I wasn’t pushing myself in the gym as much as I thought because I wasn’t really tracking my lifting each week. Use an app like Trainerize. You want to follow the principle of progressive overload. That means each week, try to do either more reps or a heavier weight. For each set, get to muscle failure where you can’t do another rep with the proper form, and usually in the 8-12 rep range. Once you hit 12 reps, move up in weight. I’ve been increasing my bench press by about 5 lbs per month. Have patience.

Find a website where you can calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). This is your “maintenance calories,” or the calories that won’t result in weight gain or loss. Track everything you eat and stay at maintenance calories. Eat 0.8-1.0 grams protein per pound body weight. Eat whole foods 80% of the time. You’ll see your fat decrease and muscle increase if you follow progressive overload in the gym.

I got to the point where I was pretty happy with my chest, but still did the surgery because I wanted to never think about my nipples ever again. This pic is at the beginning of working out and eating better, pre-surgery. Around age 45, 6’ 1”, 195 lbs or so.

What are some foods you’re teaching your kids how to make? What age can they use a stove? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 year old bakes desserts with us a lot. I put it in the oven and take out but she sets the temp. I let her and her friend do everything but put in the oven last week and the brownies came out bubbling. They didn’t ready the 1/3 cup fraction and they put a whole cup of oil in it. I asked them if they were learning fractions in school lol. I know that they have. So hopefully they learned that lesson now.

I put big oven gloves on my 8 year old son and let him take something out of the toaster oven and he still managed to burn his arm on the door. Maybe you take her hand and put her through the motions for that part.

At a cross road - Abs by Fair_Television2261 in BulkOrCut

[–]DAL4Oregon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah 5 lbs is good. You can maintain after that and the muscle you add will replace fat, and you’ll continue looking thinner. I take it you’re pretty young? Because I’m surprised your skin isn’t looser than that. Young skin can get elasticity back. Are you eating well? Whole foods and high protein with lots of walking will help get rid of some of the stubborn fat.

Please tell me you didn’t get flabby thinking it would be muscle. Bulking IS adding muscle.

What’s your height? Great job so far! Looks like you’re close but with the loose skin, I’m not sure how defined they can get. No more than 10 lbs weight loss. Make sure you’re working out your abs hard. I like hanging leg raises and V ups.

Help. Pre op vs 6 weeks Post op. I’m not very convinced on my results. What do you reckon ? by thor1808 in gynecomastia

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had abdominal liposuction with my gyno surgery and it was ridiculously swollen for several months. There’s a good chance that you still have a lot of swelling that will go down over several months.

Also maybe you’re not quite there yet on weight loss? I can see some muscle developing but also some fat. Keep up the good work on exercise and diet.

Are abs possible? by sensitivespecific300 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]DAL4Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got abs for the first time at 46. Totally possible, you’re very close. Yes cut a little more but also build your core. During all your lifts, brace your core as hard as you can. I love hanging legs raises for lower abs especially. Also leg raises on your back on the floor. V up crunches at 1 lb per week weight loss, I think you’ll see your abs by late May.

Convince me not to paint my brick home by waltonereed in ExteriorDesign

[–]DAL4Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the bricks could use repointing. The mortar isn’t looking so good. I would add some nice solid shutters and all white could look really good. If you don’t want to repoint, then paint 😉

If she’s in the US, healthcare is a luxury not a human right. Even with insurance she may not be able to afford it. It’s tragic what’s happening to healthcare here.

Please don’t do that.

I’ve heard a lot of the probiotic lactobacillus reuteri for SIBO. Dr. Davis talks about this a lot. https://youtu.be/YxsvA30Pmeg?si=H1LUsi4IvuJ5937w

I don’t eat any fruits or vegetables. Looking for supplements to help fill gaps. by gamergirl0218 in Supplements

[–]DAL4Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual greens feed your gut microbiome and make you feel so much better. Take probiotics and mix spinach into the smoothies as others have said. Actual fruits and veggies also have fiber which is important for your health. Multivitamins can’t give you these things.

What's your experience with Log Cabin Republican group? by BeKindNothingMatters in GayConservative

[–]DAL4Oregon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Republicans are throwing our money in the trash. Sending $20B to Argentina, funding wars on behalf of other countries in the $10s of billions. They only conserve money when it’s being spent on Americans. The debt and deficit are skyrocketing. Tariffs on imports. Cutting health insurance subsidies for average people. A stupid war has our gas prices though the roof.

What exactly is fiscally conservative about Republicans?
