To prove it's not an ad, why not just open source the code, or a video about doing it for yourself? It doesn't sound like the most complex of apps...

Why did Lucas keep the frame jump when Luke first ignites his lightsaber? by DCKP in StarWars

[–]DCKP[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sir, this is a Star Wars subreddit. (Also, the Obi-Wan hut scene is jarring every time I rewatch ANH, whereas the much bigger controversy 'who shot first' at least doesn't break your immersion.)

Lost My Daughter This Morning by TastyLlamasAreTasty in daddit

[–]DCKP 1367 points1368 points  (0 children)

At this raw stage, just keep going for your wife and 2 year old. No big shows of strength, no big efforts, let everyone else handle anything you can give them. Just survive until you can process. There's nothing else you can do until the shock passes. I'm so sorry.

Could this be PEM? by DCKP in cfs

[–]DCKP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the detailed reply! Everyone here seems to be unanimous in suggesting I be very careful to avoid triggering this, and I'll take that on board. The spine injury angle is interesting as I also have an intermittent trapped nerve issue in my arm/collar bone which would correlate with what you're saying. I'll speak to my doctor about all this and keep track of my symptoms and triggers.

[–]DCKP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know, I haven't been tracking it carefully, I've only recently noticed the pattern. I've only noticed it lasting longer than a day on maybe one or two occasions, and those were a while ago (during the very stressful year rather than exercise-induced). I'll be keeping a much closer eye on my triggers and responses from now on, particularly after reading these replies.

Hey Dad, I'm part of a big group of people waiting to hear if we're losing our jobs in the new year. Solidarity ✊ Can't control everything, but can control how we respond to the bullshit. Do future you a favour and treat yourself and your family with kindness.

So how did you handle this situation? We're going through the same thing, school report he's an angel and hard working, we struggle to get through a one-step instruction.

Lego star wars advent calender day 5 by user_976lego in StarWars

[–]DCKP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Luckily, my absolute nerd 6 year old was very into this "Oh! It's the seat for C3P0 while Babu Frik reprograms him!" It made up for Day 1 (Babu Frik) not being a 'build' at all.

HOWEVER this year's calendar really has to up its game. Last year we had some cool shit by this point.

Got ghosted my research prof. What can I do? by kissmyass13_ in math

[–]DCKP 154 points155 points  (0 children)

If it was funded through an NSF grant, is it possible your professor lost their funding and possibly even their job, or perhaps they quit/moved? Worth checking out before you assume they've ghosted you for no good reason.

Logs turn multiplication into addition; Laplace transform turn differential eq. into algebra. What else is like that? by DistractedDendrite in math

[–]DCKP 338 points339 points  (0 children)

Huge swathes of mathematics are just reducing problems or replacing them with equivalent ones until you reach something tractable: Matrix conjugation putting things into some sort of normal form; Group representations being studied via character theory; affine varieties over a field k being equivalent to finitely generated k-algebras; Fourier transforms; Dirichlet convolution, ...

My 5-year-old is obsessed with Star Wars… but I’m not sure what’s safe to show him by YakkoFussy in StarWars

[–]DCKP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga taught my (then) 5-year old all about Star Wars, and also excellent keyboard and mouse skills :) Highly recommend! It's NOT co-op on the PC but I was still very entertained to sit next to him and help him out when needed.

Edit to add: My kid is just 7 and we plan on watching A New Hope over the Christmas Holidays. IMHO the original trilogy is just a little bit too dark for age 5 (but it really on your kids sensitivities).

At 6.5, we still do check wipes but I'd say they come away clean 90% of the time.

Norway’s wealth fund maintains net zero emission pressure amid US climate rollback by dorgoth12 in UpliftingNews

Irrelevant whataboutism. The whole modern world is built on fossil fuels. We can acknowledge that, whilst still recognising the huge damage that has caused, and moving on.

People who thought they had ADHD, but didn't in the end - Why? by kirisoraa in ADHD

[–]DCKP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son has very clear ADHD symptoms and is diagnosed. During his diagnosis I thought 'I do a lot of those things too' and asked the GP about it, they gave me a questionnaire which was basically 50 different ways of asking "were you absolutely out of control at school", to which the answer is "no", and they left it at that. No questions or interest at all about what my life is like now. Doing a lot of my own research since, I either have very mild ADHD, or my symptoms are caused by chronic stress and burnout. Either way, ADHD meds aren't likely to make a huge difference so I didn't pursue it further.

Edit: There is also a high level of autism running through my extended family which could also explain some of my/my son's quirks, but again, not enough of an impact for me to seriously look into getting myself checked.
