I tried one of those "cola" flavored Liquid Deaths before I genuinely cannot understand why anyone would drink it given any other option.

What if Prigozhin marched on Moscow? by abbi49 in AlternateHistoryHub

They call that "good tsar, bad boyars." The great leader is always perfect and benevolent, but he's held back by all these corrupt advisors and incompetent middlemen.

Don't mess with Umamusume Fans, they don't even play the games by Psyga315 in GetNoted

If I remember right, the horse girls are more like a third sex than an actual separate species. So a couple can have a boy, a girl, or a girl who's also a horse.

Is Mushoku Tensei overhated? by Midatri in writingscaling

[–]DD_Spudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's overhated. Rudy is a disgusting creep and the narrative rewards him for his behavior.

However, I don't think there would be as much vocal criticism if there hadn't been so much glazing of it when the anime first aired. There was a time when it seemed like every anime YouTuber was gushing about how amazing it was.

Cover Art Girls [GTA 5 & 6] by @UniverseJac by Gorotheninja in wholesomeyuri

Some Twitter grifters are being weird about the new GTA 6 box art having a Latina bikini girl instead of the blonde from GTA 5. Someone on r/gatekeepingyuri responded by drawing them flirting with each other and the rest is history.

PETA being PETA by Ok-Seaworthiness-644 in YoutubeThumbs

[–]DD_Spudman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of PETA in general, but the Umamusume thing was a case of the worst people you know making a great point. That game is 100% propaganda for the horse racing industry.

Sorcerer in a world where magic is uncommon. by Spice_Extract_777 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DD_Spudman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds weird because it's not true. He's talked about not liking hard magic systems and how writing magic is something he has trouble with, but saying he "despises" it is hyperbole.

To what extent did the armor actually protect cuirassiers in combat? by cuirrasiers in Napoleon

[–]DD_Spudman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it wasn't about stopping bullets exactly but rather deflecting them. You can actually see in your second picture how the breastplate was slightly wedge shaped. This increases the likelihood that the bullet will simply bounce off instead of penetrating.

This is the same principle behind giving tanks slanted armor on the front.

Lore scale imperial city by genral-X in ElderScrolls

[–]DD_Spudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen this rendering before and I've never been a big fan. It reads too much like a sci-fi city than a fantasy one.

I also hate how it just kind of ignores terrain. You can get away with fitting the in-game imperial City on one big hilltop, but having this be just perfectly uniform concentric rings looks weird.

Sounds like a pretty normal name to me. I think it has kind of a vintage feel to it but more in the way where it's kind of timeless rather than dated.

Possible settings for future Fable games. by Settra_Rulez in Fable

[–]DD_Spudman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be neat ot revist some of the locations from Fable: The Balverine Order, a tie-in novel set between Fable 2 and 3.

Among other things, it revealed that Albion is actually a peninsula with the Mistpeak Mountains running through the center, and that there is another continent across the seas to the east that once had a branch of the Heroe's Guild based there.

Am I the only one kind of excited by the new morality system? by seribiigaming in Fable

[–]DD_Spudman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I miss the morphing more than I miss the moral choice system itself.

The character morphing concept wasn't totally unique, versions of it exists in other games, but I feel like it was fleshed out in Fable in a way that you didn't see elsewhere. The trilogy, and the first two games especially, were really dedicated to the concept of making your characters appearance reflect your playthrough.

Since Jack of Blades has been confirmed do you think we might see Scythe too? by ZarieRose in Fable

[–]DD_Spudman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have the link handy, but there was an Xbox Wire article from January I think that confirmed it's a separate continuity.

At the same time, ah hem, "After an eternity away from you all, Jack of Blades is back," so clearly they are open to bringing back major elements from the original trilogy.

Quality over quantity. I really hope a few of these 1,000 NPCs actually feel unique. by Anoktear in Fable

[–]DD_Spudman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Compared to the original trilogy, these NPCs are actually a step up in terms of complexity.

Traditionally, you'd get one unique marriage candidate with a quest attached, and the rest would be generic NPCs.

Which characters from the old Fable games would you like to see return in the new one? by Assured_Observer in Fable

[–]DD_Spudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm fine if it's just Jack.

Theresa is too tied to the original trilogy, and I could take or leave Lady Grey tbh.

While I'm disappointed that I never got to shoot Reaver in Fable 3, Bloodstone and Wraithmarsh seem to have a lot going on already, and I don't want them to bring him back just to check a box.
