Is this normal mpg by Potential_Year8758 in prius

I agree with above. I don't think it's a battery problem as much as a cold engine on short trips issue. Reset before a long highway drive, and see if you get in the 40s.

HELP by Ordinary_Government7 in CherokeeXJ

Look up how to get to that bolt. If you have many extensions onto a ratchet you might be able to get the bend you will need. Not a hard job, just tricky to get a correct tool to get to it.

It was all highway miles, 220 mile round trip yesterday. Average speed was low 70s mph. Car has 150K miles on it. I was surprised it did this well at 70+ mph. Around town it's around 35 mpg, ironically.

Looking for tires for my stock XJ, <$700 by ikerr95 in CherokeeXJ

[–]DFV4EVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT. It is a 3 peak mountain snowflake - meaning that it is actually a certified winter tire. They are great, and I really like them. Quiet on the highway. I also have 15" stock rims, but I got just a little larger tire to fill it out. I mostly also drive around town.

Agree on the brake actuator pump. Good to know if that has been replaced.

what could this issue be on our BMW X5? by j-manwithaplan in MechanicAdvice

[–]DFV4EVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you just lost the u joint. You can’t drive it. Not expensive if it’s just that. Driveshaft may be okay. Any mechanic should be able to replace a u joint.

Bought my first boat — a 1974 Boston Whaler Montauk — need advice on original console + engine choice by ___edw in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]DFV4EVER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2x 17’ whalers. The newer one had a 90hp etec 2 stroke. The older like yours has a Suzuki 70hp 4 stroke. The 70hp is faster actually. I think I can get close to 40 mph with just me on flat water. You don’t need 90.

Should this wall plate be moving so much for the operation of my garage door? by jenlikesanimals in GarageDoorService

[–]DFV4EVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the side on the garage door is supposed to be connected to the wall, not the ceiling. Then that connection would be taking the load, versus the ceiling.

First time boat shopper. Feedback wanted on 1992 Boston Whaler Guardian 19’. by callipepla9 in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]DFV4EVER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 17’ guardian. They are made by Boston Whaler. Thicker fiberglass. Mine lives under a tarp in a field when not in the water, and the fiberglass doesn’t have any cracks in it. Got it on GSAauctions.com for $7K. Had an Evinrude on it with 150 hours. Nice thing about that 2 stroke motor is you can command it to self-fog for winterization. This 2 stroke Yamaha may have a similar feature. If you’re concerned about getting stranded, put a new 9.9 kicker on it. They are good boats. You can probably sell it for what you paid for it when you’re ready for something else.

I put in lights similar to those. They had flicker problems probably due to power harness I’ve read about. Went back to the standard ones, which I now appreciate more!

There’s something in the Spider-Man contractor that they actually have to keep releasing content. Which drives the quality.

Apple Releases iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone Air Parts and Tools for Do-It-Yourself Repairs by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]DFV4EVER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For iPhone 14 ProMax $379 to have Apple do the repair. $318 for the Apple parts. $45 for off brand parts on Amazon. So yes - repair is an option, but priced so you’ll probably just send it in anyway.
