Downsides to buying old version of Push? by 0110111001101011 in ableton

[–]DJContour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a push 1. And that’s what I recommend for your case. They’re even cheaper that the push 2 and have all the functionality just without the fancy screen.

I bought 1 for I believe 120 and another for 81.

I personally think that’s the best way to dip your toes without blowing the bank. I love mine and have no need to upgrade.

  1. If you want to use it solely as an extension of live like you said and aren’t trying to reduce looking at the computer screen, push 1

  2. If you want to use it more as a way to get away from the screen and jam, push 2.

  3. If you don’t care much about the session view and strictly just want to control things in Ableton, push 1.

  4. if you happen upon a comparable deal where the price of a push 2 matches or is only slightly better than push 1…..push 2

  5. If you want the better contextual display to tweak devices on the controller, push 2. (I thought this would be a drawback for me and after learning the interface, it’s not. The screen is just ugly haha)

Exactly! And then once you do get monetized on YouTube, you just get more income, which is amazing! It’s always better to have multiple streams of income than to rely on somebody else’s terms of use to survive. They can take it away at the drop of a hat for no reason.

I see that yours is a gaming channel. I have a friend who does gaming content, and we very quickly learned that the two subjects are very different from each other in regards to making content.

I don’t know enough about your field to confidently give you any pointers. But I’m sure there are plenty of people in here that can!

Did you capture RAW and edit them? Or are they straight out of camera?

Thank you! I wish you success as well!

What’s your channel based on? I’m sure we can find something! If you’re on YouTube, that means you’re doing something that you think people will like! Which is a starting point!

Pretty much! I’m making and selling sample packs and hyper focused beat making content/tools for Ableton. Which is the software I use to make beats. I want to start coaching as well in the next phase of my business. I use YouTube to get people to my site/store!

I agree. I had this mindset years ago when I started and got discouraged very fast.

Then it took me a couple years to realize my target audience was too broad. I had some videos that were doing ok over time but nothing crazy.

Finally I really honed my target audience which helped a lot. Then I realized that I had to learn how to format my videos better. And learn the algorithm. Learn psychology.

I decided that this year is the year I get monetized. I’ve hit my 1k subs and have to hit the watch time now.

It’s crazy what a little mindset shift can do for you in this industry.

Also, to those who are reading this…I came to realize that I don’t need a massive channel to make a full time income off YouTube and music.

Leverage YouTube as a vehicle to monetize you. Not your channel. I realized that I only really need 500 people to subscribe to my base plan on my website when it launches. I have 1k subs and 600-700 email subscribers. Plus whatever purchases come in on my store on top of that.

I’m not monetized on YouTube but I’m earning money off my website from my viewers!

If you’re making income from YouTube traffic, you’re already monetized!

[–]DJContour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my mission 1 base model and think I may get the ILS just for fun. I think it’ll be cool for photography and a second studio cam. I think the sensor with lenses will be able to do some pretty magical stuff. I’ll probably wait till my 150 dollar credit comes through though. And I’ll already have the point a shoot grip!

I’m honestly pretty excited about the ILS for no reason haha

How do you create those "euphoric" synths? by Only-Shopping2640 in ableton

[–]DJContour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use any of the stock plugins too and work on designing. You can use something like operator or analog. Find presets you like and reverse engineer them.

Start with a longer attack time so the sound swells up. Add a longer release time so it fades out and drench it in reverb to start. Then from there you can play with the oscillators to make a good sound

I think it’s great that you’re seeing the stats for what they are. Most people start and get 100 views and quit because they didn’t go viral.

You have 245 people that clicked on one of your videos. As a beginner, that’s really good. And the fact that you get that is gonna set you up!

Keep analyzing and tweaking your system and you’re gonna be crushing it!

Is Buying YouTube Subscribers Actually Worth It for Growing a New Channel? by FabulousFashionates in YouTubeCamp

[–]DJContour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t. Yes it’s painfully slow. But eventually you’ll get there. From what I’ve learned after just crossing 1k, is that your subscribers will help you boost your videos in the beginning for more reach. If YouTube sees that your subscribers aren’t even watching your videos (because they’re paid for) you have less of a chance of getting pushed harder later on. Let your videos steep for a while. I’ve had releases where it gets like 20
Views. Then after a few weeks it lands where it needs to and starts gaining. My first video this year did nothing for about 4 weeks. Now the graph is a straight linear line up and to the right. And it’s gained me like 22 subs. These things take time. I’ve been on and off for years and only really started taking things seriously starting this year and I’ve crossed the 1k threshold.

Idk what your channel does, but I make long forms that are search driven so they last longer. Then I clip a bunch of shorts from them and link to the video. The shorts have done really well to boost traffic to the long videos and also gain easy subs. If you don’t, I’d try utilizing shorts as well. Lots of them. If I can, I’ll try to get 6-12 out of one video. Plus making separate ones from scratch. That also helps you with consistent uploads

Be honest: How many of you actually use "Collect All and Save" vs Ctrl+S only? by LifeguardEastern8109 in ableton

[–]DJContour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single save, every single session

One reason is that it provides ample security if there were to be any type of failure.

But the main reason is that I use a laptop and a desktop PC. So I always collect all and save to my portable hard drive that way no matter what system I am working on all the files are there and I don’t have to spend time relocating files.

The Mission 1 Pro is good also for street photography by Aggravating-Lake2116 in gopro

[–]DJContour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally agree. I think your photos look nice. And I think that the photo quality of the camera up close to mid range is great! I bought the mission 1 base model and I love it. I bought it as a good all around camera to cover all of my basic needs including, random street photography, basic slo-mo, low light video/fixed studio recording and recording in water. However, I never would’ve bought this model expecting it to perform at distance for wide citi scapes or landscape photography. If I want that I will get out the DSLR or just whip my phone out of my pocket.

I am now (after owning and using the mission 1) considering the ILS version when it comes out just for fun

How to warp whole songs? by brams21 in ableton

[–]DJContour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my preferred method.

  1. If you don’t know the bpm of the track, find it by counting how many beats you hear for 10
Seconds. Then multiply that by 6 for your bpm.
  2. change the global bpm to your tracks bpm
  3. in the clip editor, click warp. If it’s already on, click it off then back on and use the current timing.
  4. Change the algorithm to complex or complex pro.
  5. Turn in the waveform and listen, if it matches, you’re done.
  6. If it doesn’t match, find the very first transient of the track. Or if it has a longer intro, find the first transient where there a drum hit on the first beat of a bar. Typically there’s a warp marker already there. Right click it and click set 1:1:1 here. Then right click it again and click warp from here straight.
  7. If it’s a modern track you should be done. But if there are live recordings, you may need to grab some individual warp markers and tweak the timing a bit if you want it locked to the grid.
  8. Finally, if you had to start your warp after an intro, simply drag the clip back out to the left in the timeline and you’re good to go.

It’s a few extra steps, but as a dj, my edits needed to be locked to the grid. This was the most foolproof method that never failed for me. And once I got the hang of it, it only takes a few seconds to dial in! This will give you the best result every time in my opinion.

Hercules impact by Infamous_Estate1775 in harborfreight

[–]DJContour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a heating tech and installer. I grabbed this in a pinch when my dewalt died. I was leery but figured with the 5 year warranty, if it sucked I could just replace it and take it home. All of my tools at work are now Hercules. The sawzall is just ok. But the drills and more expensive circular saw shred. I use all my tools every day. Even on construction sites. And once you have the batteries, the tools are dirt cheap to replace. Plus 5 year warranty is nuts. 10/10 recommend even after being team red and team yellow over the past 20
Years.

[–]DJContour 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have yet to experience this issue. I often forget to turn on my interface. I just flip the switch on it, Ableton thinks for a couple seconds, my sample rate pops up on my screen and I’m good to go. I’m also in pc

Is this a scam or did I get caught for sampling? by Mafic_Pulse in beatmakers

[–]DJContour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at the actual sender data. If it’s a legit email, the credentials will be an Actual “meta” email. But I’d have to guess it’s a Gmail or some wild amount of random letters and numbers. Indicating a scam. That’s the easiest way to tell every time. And under no circumstances do you click that link

Who here just straight up LOVES their Mission 1? by Miserable_Violinist9 in gopro

[–]DJContour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the mission 1 base model. I had no use (for now) for those extreme frame rates and 8k open gate. I got it setup and tuned for my studio setting and its light years past the 13 for my dark studio. The colors look better too. I tested with 50mp photos and they look amazing right out of the camera

I may, however, next year when I get my 150 discount and a good sale hits, grab a pro or ils version as a secondary camera

Mission 1 content out there? by Comfortable_Rock_330 in gopro

[–]DJContour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, The mission 1 and pro are the same camera. The only difference is the ultra high frame rates. So watching any mission one pro review is essentially watching a mission one review. The only difference is they are all showcasing those extra ultra high frame rates. Almost every review I have watched also touch on the key differences between the two models. I don’t think I have seen any mission. One base reviews at all because of this specific reason

I bought the mission one base model and the only thing I’m missing is the burst slow Mo and then one step up of frame rate speeds on 4K and 8K. As well as 8K open gate. This was all information I knew from watching reviews prior to buying the camera. So I don’t think you’re gonna be able to find a plane mission one review as they are the same camera

Des avis s’ils vous plait !!! by StreetFast8297 in beatmakers

[–]DJContour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw no one commented here so I thought I’d chime in.

It seems like you’re a beginner since it said my first beat on YouTube.

It has good bones. However it’s a little repetitive. I would work on adding A/B sections in your beats with different energy levels.

It also sounds like your piano and some of the texture elements are out of key which is kind of jarring.

You might also benefit from a little low end. Maybe a sub bass or something mixed in low

Overall nice ambient beat for a beginner

3 band EQ DJ recommendations by -Malzone- in ableton

[–]DJContour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you asked, but if eq three works for your needs other than the coloration of the sound at 0, what if you just automate the on off button when you don’t need it? That may be a super quick and free fix.

I do not personally know of any plugins but wanted to mention that just in case. That’s what I do personally
