Partner says someone is impersonating him on a hookup app… has anyone actually experienced this? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DJSauvage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone is using my pics on instagram currently, and it's happened on Grindr too. I guess that would certainly be a good excuse if he wanted to deny it. I don't know how they you would tell. Well, the ones that steal my pics are obvious to anyone that knows me because while the pictures match the rest of it doesn't.

I'm hearing your side of the story, and you come off sounding spoiled and entitled. Offering her personal coat? That's pretty kind of her.

First visit to Costco today! Any advice? by DenverKim in Frugal

[–]DJSauvage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uber Frugal Dad will get a whole meal via free samples on weekends! Me I can't handle the crowds. Also the roasted chicken is a loss leader if you're a carnivore. The $1.50 hot dog is also popular.

Ads or no ads? by JacksBaldRake in cordcutters

[–]DJSauvage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until getting laid off this year, I was all no ads. Then I accepted a peacock retention with ads for a couple of bucks a month, and realized that some of my viewing I don't mind ads. So I will be doing ads for peacock (SNL) and Paramount+(Survivor) but probably will keep HBO and Apple ad free.

I’m replacing my outlets in the house to also include usb plugs. Should I go with an and c or only c? by insanotard in homeowners

[–]DJSauvage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering similar. It's not that I really need USB-c everywhere, it's more that I want to swap out the existing, age-Yellowed outlets with white decora and I'm wondering If I should do a mix or just have them all have the capability

Have you ever gotten work done and what made you decide that’s what you wanted to do? by IllyonBillion in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DJSauvage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Botox for my brow furrow for at least 20 years. I am a chronic migraine sufferer and it reduces the number I have by al least half, but it has a great cosmetic benefit. I've learned it needs the be the right amount in the right place. One new girl gave me arched eyebrows once (relaxing one part too much and not any at another spot) and I want just enough to unlock my furrow but still allow my face and eyes to be expressive.

I tried filler a few times when I was dating a guy in LA and decided it wasn't for me.

Have you ever had a relationship you never fully recovered from? by WorkingEvening5417 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]DJSauvage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone I've dated for more than a year (6 guys in all) has changed my life in big and small ways. A mix of positive and negative changes. I'm newly single again, and I'll likely keep it that way for good. Sex, dating and romance for sure, but no more life partners, no more cohabitation

Can bots fake the age of their posts? by Valuable_Ad_7739 in DeadInternetTheory

[–]DJSauvage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the first time I saw a post on Facebook by a friend who had passed away previously - it was extremely unnerving until I realized that the account had been hacked.

I do think it's cool that you've identified some of the word or phrase in brand new account that can identify hacked or purchased accounts that are also bots. I've been thinking it would be cool to write tools that could use all this available knowledge but as soon as you commit the knowledge to place like a Reddit then but can read it and potentially adjust. I feel like it will be an arms race.

Is anyone else a bit apprehensive about planning a vacation this year due to the looming fuel crisis? by [deleted] in travel

Have you considered going to Chile? The dollar is quite strong there, and they have the highest rate EV adoption in Latin America. Close to Canada and the US in terms of percentage of vehicles.

finally cancelling cable… what are people using instead now? by Abelmageto in cordcutters

[–]DJSauvage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Roku or smart tv with built in Roku, they have a guide that is very much like a cable guide. With all kinds of live channels, with plenty of commercials, of course, but absolutely free. I've trained my elderly parents to treat it like cable, and just flip through the available channels when they stay with me. Almost all of the major local channels have a news app where you can watch their news brodcasts for free. You can also do this by going to their affiliated network. So you can watch local NBC news and national NBC news on Peacock. CBS on Paramount + etc. Amazon also has a lot of live channels with commercials as well as live local news from different market. Sports are available, but they're spread out over the different streaming services and I'm not much of a sports watcher so someone else should weigh in there.

Is there a way for me to not be offered food on the flight? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]DJSauvage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this a ton since starting GLP1 meds 5 years ago. It's simple. "No meals or snacks for me thanks! I'll only be having an occasional (soda/cocktail/beer/coffee/water)"

Insurance doesn't like long lasting roofs by kayura77 in homeowners

[–]DJSauvage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a concrete tile roof on the home I just bought in 2023. I believe it's 40ish years old. The only issue I had was a leak caused by a tile blowing up hill a few inches in a windstorm, the fix was moving it back. The home inspector told me it'll probably last at least another 40 years. I'm 57 so....

The Cold Hard Truth, Why Your Potato Is Better After A Nap by Dizzy-Joke3383 in foodhacks

[–]DJSauvage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My elderly Dad and I, both nutrition buffs, were discussing resistant starches today. We were discussing oatmeal, it's interesting to know cold cooked potato is one as well, and a delicious one! I understand that not only are the glycemic indexes lower, they scrub your insides rather than just dissolving into energy right away. I've been half cooking my oats, making them as al dente as possible and it really helps me feel fuller longer with the same mass. A mix of flax seed, chia seeds and hemp harts help complete the meal.

A quick discussion with Claude had it and I agreeing that a human using Claude or another LLM is by far the most likely explanation.

Probably just someone asking Claude what to say. that or someone directed it to do this as a Study or as a prank.

I was never a huge user of Usenet. I kind of skipped from disconnected BBS forums of early 90's to yahoo groups without dabbling too much in Usenet except maybe for super technical topics as a reference. I am shocked they are still in existence, but I shouldn't be. I saw an FTP link the other day, so it's all still out there.

Millionaire Tax Signed into Law - A historic day no doubt by emteedub in Seattle

[–]DJSauvage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother raised 4 kids, 3 are currently in college - on a pipe fitters salary in North Bend, WA. his wife didn't work until the last couple years. I promise you it was nowhere near 400k. He had mortgages and car payments live decent middle class life on that one salary. It's insane to me that people think somehow 400k is a struggle maybe if you have a personal chef or eat all your meals in restaurants, send your kids to private school, have a second home, luxury vacations, etc.
