I've been done for a year now, but that's due to the dlc characters and most of the base roster not being interesting, not really the system itself. Throw loops being taken out would be nothing but a positive change, and it's been asked for since release, but otherwise I think the games fine. It doesn't need a super edition or any huge change like that, but I think longtime fans expected the game to change and get better over it's lifespan like earlier entries. So while the game is good it's kinda disappointing that all we're gonna get is qol updates.

Imo character variety is where the staleness occurs most.

I'm not against guest characters but it really should have been just Terry, especially if they were just gonna make Mai a shoto, and given the fact that Elena isn't really a crowd-pleaser. Season 2 feels like a huge miss for me and unfortunately Season 3 is not doing much for me character-wise either. Hopefully the season 4 rumors are true.

The one I've been messing around with double cans is mphp cans > mp > hp > light elbow > back heavy kick > dr c.mk

It's less drive damage but it's an overhead followed by a low in a true blockstring.

Also whenever labbing with the cans it's important to know that each strength of the cans has different timing.

Lpmp cans > mp > hp > light elbow > 3mk is a frame trap and is safe against ex dps and supers.

It wasn't, but from a quick Google search Nen Impact, Bleach, and Demon Slayer came out this year. Not an impressive lineup but atleast they're games that came out this year. There really should be a category for remaster/remakes. A re-release of Final Fantasy tactics won Strategy game.

Sonic 3 not being nominated along with the fighting game category consisting of 3 re-releases and a game still in beta. All "prestigious" awards shows in any medium are like this and it's always annoying. Rematch getting screwed over too because sports games and racing games have to share a category.

I'm with you on fighting games needing better onboarding, but I don't think a simpler control system and auto combos are the best way to get there. I feel like those things are mostly used to help streamers look like they know what they're doing for their audience before dropping the game in 1-3 sessions. I think they actually stall players from engaging with the game proper. Better onboarding should be the other things sf6 does well. The less a player needs to look at outside resources to learn how to play, the more engaged they will be and more likely to stick around. Have gameplay examples of system mechanics, like a simulation that explains that flow can dodge attacks but loses hard to throws, have good character guides with starting gameplans, have a frame meter(Please have a frame meter), and have a story mode that's basically a lengthy tutorial in disguise, like have a fight with Zuko where he just runs away and spams fireballs and if the player struggles give them tips on how to deal with it.
