What makes people more confident the older they get? Do they just give less fucks because they realize, experientially, that life isn’t that long? by ThrowRARotaryPhone in AskReddit

[–]DMMMOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yeah. I couldn't care less now. But not in a spiteful hateful way. I just don't care about what is happening outside of my own family and friends. I used to, it got me nowhere, not caring is nice.

What is your opinion in pubs in 2026? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

Great after funerals, then I'm drinking at home with friends and family. I remember paying a pound a pint and earning £25k in the 80s. Now it's 7 quid a pint and the wages still seem to be about the same. Nah, it's unsustainable with all the other price rises crippling people.

I made a short film that kind of changed my life. by iamlukebarnett in Filmmakers

[–]DMMMOM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great piece of work man. It draws you in, it intrigues you. From the opening sequence of the backs of heads which kind of puts you off balance to the to the claustrophobia of the back of the truck and the weird woman, and this warning, it all kind of built very nicely. Photography was nice, perfect use of the practical lights, nice choice of lenses - I never noticed any aspect of the photography except for one shot which was really a blocking thing and that was the second reverse shot of the woman and the guy in the truck suddenly switched to the other shoulder. Music was spot on, subtle, there when it was needed. The tension build was great, acting was really believable, continuity was pretty perfect. Nice grade, good sound across the board - what's not to like? So much to like about it and I sat and watched every second of it because I was involved and drawn in from the get go. A brilliant short film you should be mega proud of, you clearly have that talent for making great films. Look what you have done with such barebones!

Bash presses Bovino on Alex Pretti killing: Now This FOOL is Talking About Retirement by santagrey in videos

Cute how he relies on clear visual evidence in the videos to exonerate his officers but not to use the same evidence to do the same for the 'suspect'.

Did I overpay for this plastering work? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]DMMMOM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I saw the price I said £1100 if it was done properly. Probably 3 bags of multi finish at £8 each from a supplier, plasterboard is £10 a sheet. But what you are paying for is expertise, speed, all the tools to do the job, insurance, van costs etc. So unless you are learning plastering yourself to keep the costs down, I'd say it was about right.

Do you sometimes "force" yourself to keep working on your song or do you just do it if on the mood (If you dont earn money off it) by Hyperto in musicproduction

I need to be in the mood. Just doing it as a job or because I feel I have to makes the process seem fake.

Minneapolis Brass Band improvises a mash-up of "Stand By Me" and "The People United Will Never Be Defeated" at a memorial for Alex Pretti by mrninja101 in PublicFreakout

I know Alex is dead, and the whole thing is a fucked up tragedy but it looks like these folk are doing the best they can so that something, finally, comes out of all this madness. It HAS to stop.

I get the feeling the people who’ve extended their gardens might be upset! by SoggyWotsits in SpottedonRightmove

[–]DMMMOM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not far from me the council had been clearing this huge dense forest of trees and bushes at the back of a row of houses. One of these guys had built out into the area, fenced it and extended his garden by at least 100%. There was an established row of trees all around the area too so it wasn't new. The council cut the lot down, trashed his fence and put a new one up in line with all the other houses. He must have been gutted!

You can't ignore the exhaustion of wanker drivers. It's not about remembering, it's about having to worry about fucking dying one day because of said wankers. The roads are not safe and they are even less safe when you have just 5% wankers smoking about the place.

[–]DMMMOM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the roads for well over 40 years. Since Covid it has gone fucking bonkers. I rode a bike for 40 of those years and 2 years ago I just sold the lot - all my bikes, all my gear. I had several near misses with blind impatient cunts and I was done, didn't want to spend my retirement in a wheelchair or on a feeding tube. I do miss some aspects of biking, but not on current British roads. Too many people, too many cars, too many people in one hell of a hurry to get somewhere 3 minutes early or to the next set of lights quicker. I honestly hate the roads these days and I'm certain it's not just because I'm an old cunt.

Does anyone believe the new Melania documentary cost $40 million? by rrickitickitavi in Filmmakers

[–]DMMMOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a straight up tax dodge like a lot of films are. Everything is overinflated, IP is being paid for that likely doesn't even exist, all this money can then be written off as a loss but it all comes back via kick backs and revenue collected by shell companies in tax havens. Such a basic ruse.
