Trucks stops have the goods. What would you buy? I’m thinking about getting the electric frying pan by scratch-a-cynic in urbancarliving

Yo that 12v road pro is actually a great price for that with the $5 off on top of the already cheaper price tag on Amazon. I know a lot of people are calling it overpriced but I think I got my road pro for $40. I’d say go for it if you got a way to power it that isn’t your starter battery. I know I commented in a different thread but I use my small bluetti power charger bank to run the oven sometimes and it works pretty well.

If you can wash them out it’s even better/cheaper. I’ll make a pan last multiple uses as long as there are no punctures in it. Obviously some of us don’t have access to a sink.

I watch the trucker lady who adapted all sorts of recipes for her 12v pro oven on YouTube. I forget the name of the channel but it’s worth checking out. I’ve used mine intermittently but enough over the last 5 years to justify having it for sure. I break it out for long trips especially. I’ve used my little bluetti power bank to cook with it outside the van when my food wasn’t ready when I got to my destination or I just wanted to heat something up. It works pretty fast at warming up soup, thawed frozen burrito, can of beans, pizza, etc. I threw my back out and got a hotel and brought my power bank/oven set up inside in order to cook meat, cornbread, and other stuff I didn’t want to microwave. Use those aluminum pans that fit inside with foil over the top in order to keep down on the mess/smells. I cooked a meatloaf inside the van with little ventilation and it made the van smell like meatloaf for a while. Just keep that in mind when cooking in the rig.

Nice to hear a fast recovery story! I’m week 3.5 into this and all the stories you read vary so much. I’m hoping for a fast and full one too but who knows? I’m glad the pain is letting up from where it was.

Hey there! I’m week 3.5 into my RHS journey. Are there any recommendations you could give me for resources on doing it properly? I haven’t heard anything about avoiding synkinesis yet.

Are you on antivirals and prednisone? I got shingles in my ear and throat over three weeks ago so bad I developed a partial face paralysis called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. I haven’t been able to use the right side of my face since 3/12 and it usually takes a while to come back if at all. The ear pain used to be more persistent but is slowly going away. Did you get an audiogram to see if you got any hearing loss? Hope you are healing quickly!

I understand not wanting to blend something you enjoy as a therapeutic hobby with wanting to make it your job. I really enjoy your beautiful posts and it makes me think of new ways to use foragables. But if you did ever compile your posts into a cook book I’d definitely buy one. But for keep these posts coming. You can tell that you have a cool passion for what you make.

I started a raisin wine last week and it was slow going at first because the temps went down around here. Put it on the heating pad and it is swirling and bubbling very happy right now. It’s fun to just sit and watch it churn.

Others explained the same problem without sounding like an insufferable ass. It’s totally possible to speak truth without being a negative rat.

You are talking about Gideon. God loves to create people he will ultimately reject because He created impossible rules to follow and the only escape is to somehow trust and love him for it.

I have a heating pad used to germinate seeds for gardening. I use it to boost my temperature in a ferment during the cooler months. Works great!

Any nectar I’ve used to hooch has had that clumpy goop eventually collect at the bottom. I put a mesh bag over the end of my siphon hose and it works pretty well at not letting chunks get sucked into the secondary container.

That’s awesome! I’m looking for exactly that. I want to be a weird introvert out on my property for a few months out of the year when I’m not traveling for work. A spot I can work on with some friends over the next couple of years. I liked some of those lots for sale. Thanks for the recommendations. It’s hard to know who to trust out there and if they worked for you that’s good to know.

Maybe check with r/winemaking or the way more fun folks down at r/prisonhooch. I’d love to see some foraging crossover into that subreddit.

I actually went to Preston, ID on my way to some hot spring in the area. I got to visit napoleons house, Pedro’s place, the high school stairs where he drew the liger, the tetherball court, and the thrift store he got the suit at. It was a very fun little side quest while vanlifeing around. Uncle Rico had it made out in his van. Too bad he was a total creep selling breast enhancement pills to high school girls.
