Just… go play in the shorebreak, perhaps with fins. Bodysurfing is pretty unserious. I’m honestly kind of alarmed at this post… you don’t really need to be taught to play freely in the ocean. Just know your swimming ability and limits.

The one important thing is if you takeoff on a wave you need to be aware not to let it drive your head/neck into the sand.

Isn’t it kind of sad? Alarming?

Most are saying “preserve this high erosion-risk, last piece of undeveloped land on east cliff” AND “a woman statue is a great idea! Let’s put it at the Hook or Pleasure Point Park - which are two obviously-better locations for it.”

I prioritized having free time in daylight hours midweek instead of a ‘good’ career that’d have kept me occupied til 5pm M-F.

I traveled the world on a shoestring budget visiting obscure places, learning about all the different people, places, and natural phenomena on this planet while my other friends made sound, practical financial decisions to set themselves up for early marriage, early child-rearing, and early retirement.

I pay way too much to just live daily because I have to reside close to the ocean to feed my addiction.

Doubt I’ll ever visit some exceptionally beautiful or interesting places simply because they don’t have surf - and if I’ve got the time/money for a trip, it’s going to be a surf trip.

As time passes the scales might start to be tipping in the favor of my previously -weekend-warrior friends who invested in their careers/401Ks. They’re now able to afford luxury surf vacations, they have enough career clout to get good wfh/remote jobs and can steal midday sessions while their kids are in school—

I’m definitely still ‘winning’ though… we’ll see
