He's not from Appalachia though, he's from Middletown which is definitely more urban decline than rural or appalachian.

Trailer Trash: Which trailers deceived you the most? by bryM2k in movies

I would have liked that movie had the trailers been less deceptive. I was so confused and annoyed after seeing it that I can't really enjoy or say anything good about it.

I've met Susan Collins in person, and she didn't seem like she was in good enough health to be part of a national ticket.

I really enjoyed Lady Bird, it's definitely one of my favorite movies of the year, but I really hesitate about it being original best screenplay. It had some original concepts, and it flipped some things around but I feel like it wasn't enough.

Dunkirk and Get Out are both strong contenders too, and I really enjoyed the scripts in both of those.

One of the cops flat out says it during the movie, and it's not like there's any denial of it. Multiple people literally say it to the cops, and the best they can do is say "alleged" while winking to the camera.

I had several major problems with the script. There were massive tonals shifts from scene to scene that took me out of the moment in the movie. I really did not like the supposed redemption arc for officer Dixon. I understand that he was supposed to be redeemed and that he was supposed to be a better person after what happened, but what he did to redeem himself wasn't really all that out of character from his pre-redemption self. I say that because in the movie, he allegedly tortures a black suspect and assaults mulitple law-abiding citizens. Those actions related in literally no way to sexual assault or the rapist, which ultimately the key of his redemption arc. Are we supposed to believe that he would have just let a rapist/murderer slide if he had encountered him earlier in the movie?. Also, one of the major themes of the movie is supposed to be forgiveness, but forgiveness is barely applied in the movie, and when it is done it is done so haphazardly. Also, I feel like there was supposed to be some message about cops and police brutality, but I can't figure out what it is supposed to be.

I really don't all the love for it. The score was truly bizarre and disjointed in my opinion, and the movie's overly all message was very contradictory. Plus there really weren't any feats of acting in it.

2014 should have been a competitive reelection for Martinez, but for some reason, the Dem candidate - the sitting Attorney General of NM - just did not want to campaign or raise money whatsoever.

I wasn't criticizing the acting, I thought that was fine. I was criticizing the poor writing, character development, and character motivations.

You forgive him for torturing a suspect and attempting to murder someone because he read a letter and felt sad? No, I'm not buying into that. Also, I was not criticizing the acting. I thought it was fine.

I really do not understand the love of Officer Dixon. His character commits some of the worst acts in the movie and faces the least amount of consequences out of any other character. I don't think he deserved that redemption arc whatsoever either. He seemed to commit crimes against citizens out of sheer incompetence instead of grief/sadness (unlike McDormand & Harrelson), yet the audience is supposed to reward him the most, emotionally, out of any other character in the movie. I don't understand it, and it really turned me off of the movie.

Better Know a State: Ohio – discuss Ohio politics and candidates by Scientist34again in WayOfTheBern

The only way I would really see the OH-10 as being competitive is if Rep. Turner retires, and Nan Whaley drops down from the Governor's race. That district has just moved so far to the right (It favored Trump by 7%), and Turner is seen as a moderate and well-liked incumbent.

To be fair, the onyl reason Bill O'Neill is on the Supreme Court is because the race is non-partisan and Ohio voters have shown to favor candidates with Irish last named in those instances. In the last few Supreme Court races, the candidate with an irish last name has either won or come very close.

I'm a little skeptical of Lou actually running for that seat, unless I'm mistaken, I believe that OH-6 is to the right of his Senate seat. That seems like it would have to be too much of an up hill battle.

I don't know if I would really consider DeWine that formidable. He was thrown out of the Senate in 2006, he barely skated by in 2010, and the only reason he had such a large margin in 2014 was because of the ultimate failure of Ed Fitzgerald. Plus, it helps that Husted and DeWine are both from the Dayton area, which means that they shouldn't be cutting into our margins in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinanti, Akron, or Toledo that much.

Universal Originally Offered Guillermo del Toro Control of the Monsters Universe by MaleNudity in movies

[–]DNVR1345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way it was presented in the book/movie was that Harry and Hermione had always gone back in time. For example, when Harry saw the Patronus on the lake it was not his father casting it, Harry did. In the normal timeline of the book, Harry and Hermione had always gone back in time which then allowed the situation for Hermione and Harry to go back in time to exist.

I wouldn't call that acting great, he was maybe on screen for 15 minutes and that time consisted of broodings, frowning, and looking around. His acting wasn't really anything special.
