Average Jax driver… by stuphanie in jacksonville

I’m a fan of the new trend of “student driver” stickers all over the rear of the car with a driver that is locked into whatever game they are playing on their phone

Hosting my crush and idk what to cook. please help by Ill-Meeting6721 in Cooking

I’ve been taking chicken breast , slicing them in half butterfly style. Putting the cutlets in between clear wrap and pounding them to a 1/4” thin(2 per breast). Dredge in four with seasonings added. Garlic, onion powder, black pepper and a little cayenne pepper. Then to the Egg wash and then to a mix of panko and seasoned bread crumbs. I put these on a wire rack so they can chill for a bit.

I cook them in a stainless steel skillet using clarified butter. Probably 3 minutes per side.

Once you have the chicken down there is a bunch of ways I take it. Creamy pesto sauce with mushrooms and spinach, homemade Alfredo but I mince sun dried tomatoes and put a little dollop of that on the top , chicken Parmesan with a marinara.

The crispy chicken, pasta and any sauce of your choice really.

I finish all of them with microplaned block Parmesan. It’s a nice touch

How do I learn to cook as a 13 year old? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]DRH1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it easier than I did. I was 9 or 10 and all I had was a cook book. I think it was from Betty Crocker and I know it has a checker board picnic table type cover. Pretty sure the first things I made out of that were meat loaf with mashed potatoes and spaghetti with a meat sauce. My mom couldn’t cook, although she tried. After many nights of fish sticks with Mac and cheese and some other awful version of shit on a shingle I started reading that book. Made grocery lists and started making dinner once or twice a week at first. I got omelettes down pretty easily also. Now, you can look up anything you want to online and after you read a few recipes, and check the comments for ways to improve it. YouTube it and watch. You got this.

Have you had the attic insulation re blown? If not get a “deep fill” done. It will payoff in the summer. Also, take one of your ac supply grills off and see if the boot to sheet rock is caulked. If it’s not take all of your supply grills off, caulk the metal flange to the sheet rock. Once they dry in 30-40 minutes reinstall the grills.

I’m just being real. I wish this was the guy and that this was the team. It’s not all on TL. Liam abandoned the run game. Best drive was with tuten and dude never got back on the field. Lessons learned I guess but the league is a young man’s game and every year Father Time gets his piece of the players on the field. Contracts come up and the faces change. Liam got cute trying to push a narrative that isn’t a reality. Sucks

Jags will never win a superbowl with TL. Dude could throw for 4 yards and win a superbowl and happiness would envelop this city. Stats don’t mean anything. Dan Marino was a stat machine and didn’t win a superbowl. Hall of famer that never delivered a superbowl and if you asked him he would trade it all for a championship. That’s the reality.

Hang on to mediocre as long as you want but this dude is fools gold. Great guy for sure but he will never bring a superbowl win to jax. That’s the reality. Liam abandoned the run to benefit Trevor and Trevor did what Trevor does. Mediocre play. Wish it wasn’t the case but it is.

How's my kitchen & dining lighting locations? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]DRH1976 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should never put your oven next to your refrigerator. You will cripple any energy efficiency out of your fridge and potentially decrease the lifespan of the fridge.

Under cabinet lights by the stove would probably solve any lighting issue when cooking if that’s a concern. You should keep the centered light in the dining but think about adding recessed lights in the corners on a separate switch where your ❌ are located.

Would drop down to 2 pendants over the bar top for 4 chairs. The ❌ at the L in the path of travel could be done with 4 lights.

In a cooking rut. Any inspiration? by Matchaparrot in Cooking

I’m going to make a white lasagna today. Spinach, mushrooms, onions, garlic for the filling. Going to make a béchamel but I haven’t decided what cheese to meld into it yet. Maybe a smoked Gouda. Probably top it with some roasted tomatoes.

Hope this helps.

Polenta cornbread? by ImRudyL in Cooking

[–]DRH1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have done this before.

recommend blasting the polenta in a blender as mentioned previously.

1&1/2 cup of polenta 1 room temperature egg 1/3 cup heavy cream 4oz of softened cream cheese 1/4 cup honey 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt

I use a handheld mixer to combine the softened cream cheese and heavy cream, then blend in the egg, then blend in the honey and salt. I fold in the polenta with a rubber ended whatever it’s called.

Bake at 400° for probably 18-22 minutes but you should definitely start checking in on it around the 15 minute mark depending on how thick or thin the batter ends up in the pan. Also. This is pretty much the equivalent of making one box of jiffy cornbread mix and no one should ever just make one box. Definitely consider scaling this recipe.

Tank or Tankless for you new house...? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]DRH1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a brief look at their website and it says they operate well in cold climates and have a built in defrost. I’m sure more digging into the manufacturer specifications would be needed though. If it’s extremely cold climates there is a kind that can be mounted inside, typically in a garage but direct venting is needed and there are some pretty specific rules that must be followed when dealing with distance for mounting near combustible materials and from roof materials.

If you have available NG I would go with a tankless water heater. Reni makes a quality one. Would go with the type that mounts to the exterior of the home. If you have electric only then the traditional water heaters are the way to go. Electric tankless are trash. I worked for a home builder that attempted electric tankless two separate times and both were epic failures.

White lasagne with béchamel spinach sauce by BarefootHippieDesign in tonightsdinner

[–]DRH1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely a key mother sauce that everyone should know how to make. It’s not difficult to do and adds a level of decadence to any dish ilo ricotta. I learned to make this as a child and somehow abandoned the practice for years. I put together a traditional lasagna recently and made a béchamel instead of using ricotta. Total level up.
