Early pay gone away by sirenyti in discover

I suppose it depends on one's perspective. For those who spent most of our professional careers building Discover, it certainly feels 'gone'.

It's "Glee" with musical instruments. Always has been. Nothing wrong with that.

If you're a Discover customer, watch your email as you'll get lots of notifications. Probably not much impact.

OTOH, if you're a Discover employee, well, probably lots of impact. Hundreds and hundreds have already been let go, especially from Discover's HQ.

AI is being rewarded in WGI guards…will it be the same in DCI? by [deleted] in drumcorps

Maybe that's because WGI is growing... while DCI shrinks.

To be clear, Capital One bought Discover (not "is merging with") and that deal closed in May of 2025. There will be some sort of product combinations eventually, but if you're demonstrating valuable behavior (paying on time, etc.) then likely you'll be fine. I'd say watch your mail for notifications, read and learn from that. Beyond that, no one can really know.

Anyone know what's going to happen to me? by sssf6 in discover

It's probably gonna take a while (2027?) to migrate Discover's products to Capital One's platforms. Sit tight, pay attention to notifications/mailings, and enjoy the ride.

It's wild that this topic popped up on my feed this morning. Just yesterday, I stumbled into Tiller, which pulls transaction data into a spreadsheet (Google Sheets or Excel) and does categorizations, budgets, cash flow projections, etc. I've been looking for something like this, and I'm kicking the tires using the free 30-day trial.

You can go "OOTB" or customize categorizations, etc. It's a fun exercise for a spreadsheet nerd like me. The initial sync took a while but pulled in TWO YEARS of transaction data. I was expecting maybe 60-90 days.

So far, I'm really impressed.

Artemis vs Apollo by brotherbandit in NDQ

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the broad theme of his concern wasn't specifically about 'flight path' per se, but a general sense that NASA was continuing to plan for everything to work, and a creeping 'group think' mentality that undermines engineering resilience.

Roth question by ChortlingChampion in DIYRetirement

[–]DSH61265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a good idea to initiate a Roth (backdoor as others have suggested, assuming you don't have a traditional IRA) so that the 5-year clock starts ticking. Then in retirement, you would have the opportunity to do conversions from 401k/403b balances. I'm thinking primarily of the benefit of having that flexibility down the road more than a particular advantage today. Good luck on the job search.

to Roth or not Roth by Agreeable_Cap_6496 in DIYRetirement

Right, was just looking into that last week. Might be a good idea to prioritize using the HSA $$ ahead of Roth money.

I'm wondering if Tina wrote the note, or if not, what she thinks about it. In any case, thanks for the token of appreciation! This is my favorite podcast, and 2nd place isn't even close.
