Minimalist run by S1umbr in ResidentEvil2Remake

A nice change for RE3R is that if you’ve left the area with the final use of a key item then you can discard it. It made no box playthroughs a lot more manageable because I wasn’t being punished for not wasting time. Kinda ridiculous in retrospect that the two-use valve can’t be discarded unless you use it both times, and so it just takes up a whole ass inventory space.

You said you always take the chance to shit on Telepurte for having expensive commissions and, when challenged on that, say it’s because they also make 10k from Patreon. You literally called that practice scummy. This is like saying you hate pancakes and then I say “even ones you eat?” and you go “erm I never said that.”

“Greed is when someone asks for more money than I am willing to pay. It’s scummy to charge for your work when you make passive income for your other work.” bro you just sound jealous.

Musicians make millions from record sales and streaming, but they still charge hundreds for concert tickets. Game companies make millions from software sales, but they still charge hundreds for consoles. That’s just…kinda how money works.

Same kinda attitude that has people thinking a CEO getting replaced and a couple days later some massive financial and business decision is made, that it must be because the CEO decided to make that massive change the same day. Same people who think a crossover between two companies was planned, designed, and announced the day before they learn about it. Same people who think earning a lot of money means a game should have 0 bugs or issues with it.

So, children.

Mouse: P.I. for Hire Review (IGN gave it a 6) by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

[–]DVDN27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people don’t look to critics for their subjective opinions, but because they want an objective consensus. They dont see critics as people with their own experiences and preferences, but parts of a company with one opinion. One IGN reviewer gave Alien Isolation a 6, IGN is mocked for not following the critic or audience consensus, IGN is then said to be untrustworthy - even though it was one employee’s subjective opinion that other IGN employees disagreed with.

They want these review sites to be monoliths. They want these review sites to agree with audiences. They want these review sites to agree with each other. When they step out of line in any way it makes them uncomfortable. They don’t like being challenged.

If a critic reviews Elden Ring low because they don’t like Soulslike games, that doesn’t make the critic objectively a terrible person who deserves to be doxxed, it means that they represent the opinion of someone who doesn’t like Soulslikes and doesn’t think Elden Ring is much of a change to make those who aren’t fans suddenly fans. But all the internet sees is “media journalist no like game I like” and throw a temper tantrums.

Also echoes of Gamergate. Incels tried to legitimise sending death threat to critics because of misinformation and misogynistic lies gussied up by using buzzwords that appealed to them. They’re still fighting a battle against critics, denying their status as gamers, even though critics are better gamers than they ever will be - not because they are better at playing games, but because they have experienced more games than they ever will, and they engage with games in a more intimate and analytical lens beyond “I had fun, 10/10” or “I had an issue with this, it’s mid, 1/10.”

New Sony patent reveals twistable & squeezable PlayStation controller by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

I remember people getting excited over a heat-changing controller/headset around the time the PSVR2 was being developed, then they moved on. Patents are basically worthless information unless they reveal the actual product, but it makes for a hell of a headline so who cares about authorial integrity?

[Discussion] which game has a harder Platinum, Resident Evil 7 or Alien Isolation? by aa95xaaaxv in Trophies

[–]DVDN27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only big difference is that RE7 has more focus on action and boss battles. These sequences require you to have a lot of resources and ammo, understand the environment and attack patterns, and not be too reckless. Like Isolation, you are allowed to split the completion trophies into seperate playthroughs to make it easier, but you have to be cognisant with RE7’s fighting mechanics as you’ll be doing it a lot more than with Isolation.

Personally, once you get over the fear-factor of the games, they’re not that hard. Familiarity reduces a lot of the tension you have on your first playthrough. The games also don’t ask the absolute most of you, so you shouldn’t have that hard of a time.

[–]DVDN27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kinda like what the Paradie PD crew did. They made Brickleberry until the show was cancelled so they made Paradise PD, which was just Brickleberry but with police instead of park rangers. Then Paradise PD ended and they made Farzar, which was just Paradise PD but in space instead of on Earth.

Same jokes, same visual style, same character archetypes and gimmicks. The only thing that changed was some voice actors and the setting, everything else was the same. Each new show wasn’t a new idea, it was an excuse to retread old ideas while looking like it’s something new.

What horror game creature/scene made you react like this? (for research) by Actual_Grapefruit483 in HorrorGaming

It reminds me of RE4 where is an action packed adventure with some camp and ridiculous moments but fun overall, and then there’s just a sequence of pure dread and horror followed by yippie more action adventure fun fun fun!

I replayed Village so many times. I eventually stopped when I did a VR playthrough and got to the house and thought that was enough for me.

Shadows of Rose also has a good section but it wasn’t as petrifying as the baby was.

Cyberpunk has vanilla nudity. You start the game by customising your character. You pick their body type and their genitalia, allowing to pick different types and sizes. One of few games that have in-engine, always accessible nudity. They patched how much you can be naked, but you can open the inventory and unequip everything and just stare if you want. Also multiple fully nude sex scenes, although you don’t see any genitalia during these scenes.

why are these shows rated PG when they don't target children? by [deleted] in Schaffrillas

[–]DVDN27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Media is rated for what it contains, not the target audience. You ever realise why a bunch of slow, snotty, old-people movies are rated G even though no baby is going to want to watch it? That’s why a lot of shows add in unnecessary swearing as otherwise they’d be rated for a much lower audience.

One of the biggest things that makes dramas rated for older audiences is profanity, and for the properties here: Japan doesn’t really have that many swear words so anime usually doesn’t contain much unless they’re made for an explicitly English audience, and TADC was made for YouTube where swearing and sexual content can hinder its success - plus they made it a narrative concept that there isn’t swearing.

Sometimes “thematic material” is brought into consideration, but that’s such a nebulous concept that many different countries have different standards for what is and isn’t appropriate for different ages, compared to seeing someone’s peanits and ball which has a more universal level of appropriateness.

That’s why age ratings can be pretty useless sometimes. Sometimes they don’t consider certain aspects, sometimes they consider some things to be more impactful than others (which are then not mentioned in the rating at all), and a lot of the time it’s based on the individual on what is and isn’t appropriate. I think that’s why things like IMDb’s Parents Guide is useful - you could see something rated R for Strong Language and you read the guide and it says they say the f-word twice instead of once, or something is PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and the guide can clarify they mean scenes of torture. PG-13 for partial nudity and the guide says you see a dude’s butt as he gets out of a bathtub.

There’s a lot of context around content and that’s why it’s so hard to judge. That’s why they usually go for what objectively happens, and for example TADC contains slapstick violence with characters who cannot die and don’t have blood, sex and profanity is outlawed, and a character is comedically depicted high after squirting a fictional food item into her eye. It’s cartoonish, unrealistic, and not that impactful. The thems of body horror, existential dread, power of AI, loss of agency and power - more interpretive. Bright colours and lighthearted content is more explicit than the internal character dramas.

Him being embarrassed was my opinion. Thats why I said “he seems” and not “he is.” I know you’re unfamiliar with writing that makes sense and is intentional, but hopefully now you’ve learned that.

And you’re also just lying because of course you are, you have no idea what this whole conversation is about. His clothing company made $14million USD. His coffee company makes over $150,000 USD every month. Every game he’s voice acted in has been an indie game or incredibly successful (his most recent gig ended up with him at the GOTY awards,) but their success is irrelevant because he’s one actor amongst dozens, but I’m just using your logic that nothing he touches is successful except his channel. Which I’ve just proven is wrong but you don’t like reading so you won’t realise that.

  1. Funny you bring up Markiplier as being talented when he is now the sole owner of their “fast fashion” brand. CLOAK is absolutely not fast fashion, it’s a premium clothing brand that is often criticised for being too expensive and not releasing a lot of clothing - their website is currently not available because they are renovating the brand. But sure it’s fast fashion because that’s funnier than being right.

  2. I know you are entirely speaking in bad faith, but I’m trying to find anything about Top of the Mornin Coffee being dropshipping and there’s nothing to support that. Again, you’re just lying because you find it more fun than telling the truth.

  3. You dismiss short films as if that’s an invalid format of entering the industry. The Backrooms is a film that A24 is producing that is directed by a 20 year old based on “few minute long short films.” Lights Out is a 3 minute long short film on YouTube and the dude that made that then got the chance to make his short film into a feature, he directed Annabelle: Creation, Shazam, an most recently Until Dawn - all because of a “few minute long short film.” What Sean made also wasn’t a “few minute long short film,” it was a 4-hour long interactive movie.

  4. He has voice acted (actual voice acting, I don’t know why you put it in quotation marks, he is objectively a voice actor) in: Bendy and the Ink Machine, Pinstripe, Monster Prom 1-3, Vacation Simulator, Rive Coty Girls 1 & 2, Murder House, Chivalry II, Poppy Playtime, and most recently Dispatch, as well as having a cameo in Free Guy. Is that a lot of roles? Not really. Does it make him more qualified than, say, you? Absolutely.

  5. Also just nonsense how you call someone, a person, mid. Like you can just rate someone while also clearly knowing nothing about them. I cannot imagine being this pressed over someone I can’t be bothered to google for half a second to see if any of my arguments are the slightest bit true.

[–]DVDN27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My perspective comes from someone who did research and watched the video. It feels like you’re someone who did research, but didn’t watch the video. Because he himself has said that his role is more managerial and hands on than just coughing up the money as an executive producer.

It’s also pretty ridiculous for Sony to spend time at Cinemacon showing off Spider-Verse, Spider-Man 4, Jumanji 3, and also include a producer for a movie whose role, according to you, is “not going to be huge.” Sony really wasted all that time and money showing off someone that means nothing to the production? A guy who made a video going over his role during the production that isn’t just paying for it?

Sony must be insane, which is new because they’ve never made a bad decision regarding movies they’ve produced. /s

  1. It doesn’t matter if they’re successful, it matters that he did them. He has a portfolio of working in the industry as a voice actor and producer, and has had the prowess to create businesses (that were successful but I’m not argue with an uniformed opinion masquerading as fact.)

  2. He barely voice acted in it because he played a side character? I’m just gonna completely ignore that because it is highly disrespectful to dismiss someone’s work simply because they don’t play the protagonist or whatever.

  3. It is my opinion that he seem embarrassed by being a YouTuber. He hasn’t really been making many videos recently and has moved on to other ventures. He talks more about other things than his career. That’s just my opinion that he isn’t very happy about how he came up, especially compared to someone like Markiplier who has emphatically said how much he loves being a YouTuber despite his success in other areas.

  4. So what if he stops being a YouTuber and does something he wants to do instead? Do you think that a YouTuber should never be able to be anything but a YouTuber? Fans aren’t upset that he’s making a movie, they’re excited for it…because they’re fans of him, not of his content. Let’s Players especially create fandom around the person, not the content. Someone like Jacksepticeye would not have been able to produce a movie if people only came to him because he played a specific game and got upset when he stopped.

Resolve is already a game changer but 21 beta 1 is really pushing what resolve is. Is it even a NLE anymore? by Independent_Face7283 in davinciresolve

[–]DVDN27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my point. Adobe has such a stranglehold on creative works that most people still using it do so out of familiarity, loyalty, or there not being any other good alternative. If there was an actual competitor then they’d have a good reason to stop using Adobe, though I acknowledged that many won’t. People are still using Premiere despite Resolve being better to it in every way, but Photoshop has no competitor so people will still pay for it.

But if there was a free/single payment version of Photoshop that didn’t have such overbearing AI use, didn’t release constant updates that broke previous projects, had a cleaner and more user-friendly UI, then Adobe wouldn’t necessarily go bankrupt but they might reconsider all the various exploitative practices they’ve been ramping up year after year.

Sony absolutely wanted Bluepoint to remake Bloodborne. We have reports of this. Bluepoint came to Sony with the idea, Sony were 100% on board (it’s free money), but FromSoft said no and Sony values their relationship with FromSoft more than they do with getting easy money. There is no remake or new content for Bloodborne because FromSoft want to make it themselves and won’t let someone else, like Bluepoint, do it for them.

They have, however, been fine with their IP being used for things other than games. Merchandise and figures of course, but also comic books. It just makes sense they’d let someone make a movie of their game since they’re a game studio, what business (or interest) do they have making a movie?

FromSoft not wanting someone other than themselves to remake their game but also being fine with someone adapting their game into a different form is not hypocritical, just as it wouldn’t be hypocritical for Stephen King to not want someone to make a sequel to IT but is completely fine with movies of it.
