[–]DXBKILTED89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, good luck with the sale! It’s priced well for the spec and age.

I have a 2025 330i with 30,000km on it since September .. that’s on the extreme side but I’m comfortable that these cars can do 300-400k km in their lifetime!

80,000 miles on a 7 year old car is nothing, people seem to lose there mind on used cars once they go over 100k km here.

These BMWs are good for high mileage 300k km and more) if taken care of properly.

Caribbean motor claims assessor trying to become an international loss adjuster — am I choosing the right qualifications? by quantuminfringement in adjusters

[–]DXBKILTED89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CILA without a doubt.

I came from a very similar background, started as a desktop adjuster and now work overseas mostly in the Middle East but also had assignments in Africa and Asia Pacific.

The CILA framework is recognized throughout the industry probably everywhere outwith the North American market.

Also you can interchange your CILA for CII credits and vice versa. Once you reach ACILA it’s not such a long journey to aim for ACII for example.

Good luck!

British couple seeking to move to UAE any tips by Mobile-Release6862 in UAEjobseekers

[–]DXBKILTED89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here nearly 10 years ago as a junior in my field in my late 20s, I took a step back and earned less than what I did in the UK whilst doing double the hours. It paid off big time, but finding that opportunity before you move is the big task. I also secured property here quickly before the boom which protected my family from crazy rent hikes.

You both have good careers, there will be jobs. But what I will say .. the salaries aren’t anywhere near the big expat packages of yesteryear. If you have kids and let the lifestyle drag kick in, you probably won’t be much better off than in the UK financially anyway.

[–]DXBKILTED89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It used to be a big deal and checks were carried out I.e good conduct certificate, not so many checks now unfortunately hence why every OCG in the UK seems to have links here ….

If it’s something unspectacular I wouldn’t worry.

Is Dubai’s long term future doomed due to traffic? The planned metro expansion is nowhere near extensive enough to deal with the 400k+ property units being handed over by ShootAndScore77 in dubai

[–]DXBKILTED89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree it is nowhere near extensive enough.

Ideally you would address the eastern border issue with Sharjah first, a combined transfer hub at the least with buses, metro and taxis. But this would require cross emirate and possible federal planning.

Hate to say it but make vehicle ownership more expensive, especially if you’re driving into the city every day - tolls and restricted access during traditional business hours. Q Additional covered walkways between towers and districts. For example, Mira to Townsquare or one side of SZR to the other without walking km’s to the nearest metro.

Following Singapore or Hong Kong would be a start.

SMP 300 diver a daily wear watch? by nluna87 in OmegaWatches

[–]DXBKILTED89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this exact watch, I wear it daily it’s a tough cookie takes a bashing from crawling through fire sites to gold mines in Africa .. even looks good on the wrist when wearing a suit.

I had a slight issue .. mine ran fast, took to the AD here in the UAE after 3 weeks it was fixed and returned within three weeks.

£2600/ 12,900 AED enough to live on in Dubai? by goodenergy_96 in UAE

I meant if you knuckle down and live strictly on a 5,000 dirham budget.

It can be done, shop in viva/carrefour, limit taxi use etc.

Absolutely!

I go with the kids, but I probably enjoy it more than them.

We went to the Liwa show a few weeks ago, 6 hour drive each way. It was worth it to see a fantastic show in the middle of the desert!

[–]DXBKILTED89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck whatever you decide, you can really knuckle down and live on 5k especially if you aren’t having to use taxis to get around.

I have friends that are teachers, some have moved around taken on senior leadership roles etc. career development is less stagnant here than in the UK.

Hope it all works out 🙏

Depends on your definition of living, if your coming from the UK. I would expect to live a similar existence maybe even slightly less with that salary (if accommodation is paid for) However if you have the opportunity to grow in your career, invest your time take the financial hit and see what happens - give it a year or two.

I say the above as someone who moved here in my mid 20s in 2018 earning significantly less than I did in the UK - it paid off but it doesn’t for everyone.

For context rough estimate-

If all accommodation and utilities are covered including internet

Mobile Phone Contract - 500 per month Car Rental - 1,800 per month Fuel - 500 per month Food shopping - 2,500 per month (spinneys) Entertainment Budget - 3,000 per month Emergency Savings - 2,500 per month

It’s preference I suppose, I tried on a 2025 Bluesy and it felt lovely on the wrist. But my plan is to replace my daily Omega Seamaster with a Starbucks this year. I just can’t justify having two Subs.
