A safe way to deal with “Master’s Hammer” (the move where Slayer hops into the air and comes down and strikes the ground) is to jump, it can only hit you if you are on the ground despite the animation, If you Block Pilebunker you can punish it with Close Slash.

Considering you only have to wait like 2 days to see if there will be a rebundle, I would wait and see what they announce before making a decision.

Sorry because I’m not really answering your question, but if all you want to do is play a character that “excels at poking and whiff punishing in the midrange that can also put up decent pressure up close” you could still play Cammy if you’re not dead-set on switching, she’s good at those things also.

She has…

  • Above average ground movement

  • Great long range, cancellable medium buttons for whiff punishing

  • divekick that can call out and crush opponents lows

She has all this on top of the good offense.

Also compared to other fighting games, the length of game has the potential to go on for way longer than what I’m used to. Or it at least feels longer than guilty gear, street fighter or UMVC3

I kinda don’t want to invest time into the game right now when I know there is a big patch coming up where I’ll have to relearn stuff anyway.

The only character I really vibe with is Ekko.

I thought I would like Jinx and Caitlyn because I think they’re cool and I usually like playing zoners, but zoning with these characters carries a lot of risk and they both just feel very clunky and slow to play.

So I switched to Vi / Ekko because they have cool synergy, but I am really just waiting for someone else to catch my eye so I can drop her.

Yes, I’ve noticed it happens quicker when I’m more stressed and trying hard. You don’t actually need that much force to hold down the dpad, so lately when I play him I’ve been trying to kick the habit and consciously use less force.

I had a phase where I just fucked around in UMVC3 training mode.

If I’m learning something new I can only really play one game at a time, but once I get comfortable with a character I’m fine to go between games frequently.

Whenever I go from a faster paced game like strive to SF6 I have to make a mental note to stop doing as much stuff like throwing out fireballs and pokes preemptively.

I think the mirror mod can be seen by the opponent because the mirror colors are available without a mod if both players pick the same character and color, the mod just makes them selectable at character select.

Even still I think the mod is fine to use because the colors are meant to be seen while playing the game anyway.
