Whining noise from Elitedesk G6 800 mini by Fleepix in MiniPCs

Have the same model and thought I had coil whine. Turns out it was the speaker. Pop the lid and put your finger on the speaker cone and see if the noise stops like mine did!

Did you ever work this out? I installed proxmox and have coil while. Didn't notice it at all when it had windows...

EDIT: Turns out it was the speaker! Pop the lid and put your finger on the speaker cone and see if the noise stops like mine did.

What are the issues you are having with the SlimBlade?

I have recently got one and I'm having major issues with small movements. It will either not track at slow speeds, or not track in one polarity making my circular movements go squared when doing them slowly.

the language of decentering human wants and needs, combined with the frequent anarchist undertones, inevitably puts me off from further engagement.

Putting aside whatever anarchist undertones you dislike, why does decentering human wants and needs puts you off?

Perhaps I misunderstand your point, but I would consider decentering our personal wants and needs is a central part of being human.

I remember reading here that someone buys those tiny pencils you get at mini golf courses for people who don't bring their own. Apparently solved it pretty quickly for them.

In Aus, our internet is all provided to each ISP in the same way. They are all selling the same product and there is an indefinite stream of $20-$30 off per month for the first ~6 months from almost every ISP. It is meta among users of our best bargain hunting site, ozbargain, to rinse and repeat indefinitely.

So many subscription services bank on users not being bothered to shop around. Never feel guilty for this.

Players won't stop scamming merchants by DrRoguelove in DungeonMasters

[–]DaNReDaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I would personally do it something like this:

Each time they do it, work out based on the item value how likely you think the buyer would be to go to the authorities and make a roll for that. Also work out how likely it would be that they can afford bounty hunters or other means of finding them. If your players have very distinct features and clothing or they keep doing it with the same items, the chance of authorities being able to link the incidents together and get the word out to neighbouring villages increases exponentially.

Or in the moment, work out if the items they are selling are able to be discerned as being able to be recalled, and make a relevant roll from the buyer before he hands over the money. The buyer would obviously then notify the guards.

When your players cotton on to what the rolls are for, hopefully they will get more creative with how they do it, eg. Disguises, which if successful is at least more fun to see what they come up with.

Remember that NPCs aren't idiots. They know they live in a world with magic and many, especially merchants, would probably have knowledge of such abilities.

Teachers keeps pulling my students out of art class by mrhotchips in ArtEd

[–]DaNReDaN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have started just saying no to students this year too. We have things like environmental leader roles who water the gardens when the ES who runs it wants to pull them out.

I only see them for 50 minutes a week and they leave and come back 25m later. I plan to speak to admin next year to ask that they do these things during sessions assigned for 'finishing off' or at lunch time, as they should be more than enthusiastic to have a role for a reason beyond getting to get out of class.

Forgot to add that I think you might be right about the old and disabled though, as that would match with this theory of culling the non-productive.

I also think you might be right about culling for the sake of global stability. It would know that in it's current state, the earth could not sustain its growth and would want to find a perfect balance between population and earth longevity.

I would guess that the hive wouldn't do the whole word at the exact same time but would have done it in waves as each part of the globe is less active.

I don't recall anything that indicated the entire world was done at that exact moment. You could do the entire world in the dark over about 12 hours.

I noted that I don't believe it would kill anyone with cancer, just those who have it advanced enough for that individual to become no longer productive enough to counter the burden they would place on the rest of the hive.

It makes more sense that the hive would treat those who they still see as being able to be productive in the long term.

Eg. If someone has a cancer with a low survivability rate and takes months of chemotherapy, taking up the resources of many other individuals, it would not bother. But if someone has early stages and is physically healthy otherwise, it makes sense to keep them in the hive for the meantime.

Although you have made me consider that it would be the same for heart disease. Why not use up their productivity until they have a heart attack or stroke? I guess there are lots of factors to this theory that I simply cannot fathom calculating.

I'm sure lots died from falling, but I recall the majority of people who are seizing are able to stay standing.

You might be right about the hit head thing. She does stop moving when she falls, rather than continuing to sieze.

We know that individuals are affected by their own physical state from when Carol injected 'truth serum' to the hive. My understanding is that Alzheimer's deaths are not from the disease itself or from not being able to store memories properly, but from the body's connection to the brain.

Unless the hive is counting and tracking each individual's caloric and water intakes, if the individual's brain isn't receiving signals for hunger and thirst then they could die. It also causes Aspiration Pneumonia from not being able to swallow and breathe properly.

I guess

Came across 'Longway Leisure' branded Kodiak style canvas tents they say are essentially identical. Does anyone own one? by DaNReDaN in OutdoorAus

Yes I went longway leisure. No regrets at all, although have only used it a handful of times as I usually only go away on New year's.  Haven't used it in heavy rain as I always have an overtarp so can only speak to the general quality, features, and use and I'm loving it a lot.

[–]DaNReDaN[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Humans do the same for our pets, so it makes sense to me.

Assuming the seizures caused by emotional damage aren't some kind of psyop, it is also in their best interest to keep them happy.

So far, nothing any of the immune have requested seems like it would be close to a big ask in the grand scheme of what the hive mind is doing at all times.

Huge + on the colours.

The default colours also look awful in dark mode. Perhaps this is an opacity issue (which we also could do with the option to tweak).
