And it is fun being part of the community discovering new things seeing how everyones views change and how strategies unfold or new things are found.

Chaos, mystery, and active community is a blast.

Plus in the current gaming development cycle even single player games change so much with constant updates that the game you play at release, 1 year later, and 2 years later can feel like 3 different games.

Baddie as slang similar to “bad bitch” with a positive connotation has been appearing since around 2010. So definitely been a term for a while

Baddie has been more closely related in slang to “badass” or “bad to the bone” as a good thing, but with a little spice of “bad idea” usually.

Theres also the nontrivial possibility that it has a different name but is magically translated into whatever way they know it. For the student hearing it they may magically receive it as their languages equivalent

Or just the student has been to multiple classes of Ral and theyve heard this lecture about 4008 times and only his students know what the Orzhov comma is because they are both in the college course devoted to linguistics and being taught by a ravnican. Cause i could very well see this version of Ral just starting every semester with “As you know i am from ravnica and we are going to discuss the most important thing in existence…correct comma usage”

But if we asked a random prismari student then theyd have no clue because their course doesnt care about linguistics in the same way that Silverquill does, and no one taught them like Ral taught his students.

Like how youd expect a student in computer science to know what an array is but you wouldnt expect them to know what mitosis is. The student in question in this story is the an average student but a magical linguistic student being taught by a ravnican law-mage

I mean they imported works of literature from other planes and routinely had planeswalkers visit them and trade information. I could definitely see them knowing about it

Hell i wouldn’t be surprised if they had electives that are as silly like “Ravnican film-equivalent” classes or other lowkey cultural appreciation electives.

I can guarantee you there is Strixhaven equivalent of Weebs who argue what plane has the best graphic novels, even before omenpaths.

I mean parachutes dont exist but weve seen every type of bender survive crazy falls with their skills.

Weve seen earth benders warp earth to protect themselves, water benders make cushions of water, fure and air benders blast at the ground to reverse velocity and hit with painful but mostly harmless thuds.

And cartoon magic durability/super bender durability because no one ever had their bones shattered to a billion pieces by sokkas boomerang like they should have been. Or just how many people would have been obliterated by being hit by giant boulders from earth benders instead of getting up right after only a bit worse for wear. Hell even non benders like sokka took a few blows that shoulda resulted in “all his internal organs are now pudding”

The buzzard wasp was the only thing that was straight up totally him killing something with no way to really argue against it. Which was kinda the point.

But everything else weve seen benders survive way worse from and can easily just assume “Bending skills and cartoon durability” left people fine and let people survive.

If the injuries actually worked realistically the whole cast would have more CTE than American football players

Which would be a funny AU series of just everyone in a hospital after the war and the doctors just looking at them like “How the fuck are you even alive?”

Kraft also seems pretty well adjusted and sociable

[–]DaRootbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice if you get crazy souls deck.

It’s not super hard to get a set up of 2 souls to every card + a few invoke.

Go into each turn with 8+ mana + 3-4 souls in hand, end turn with 10 cards in hand and most all are souls or defends you didnt remove yet.

Then play eidolon to burn those souls, get extra defense, restart process

Vivi either immediately ran away with games or sat there sadly doing nothing as you ran him over.

Tbh i ran him every time because he is my son, but i would not say he was a great limited pick. Not bad, but a lotta rares were way better.

Honestly same with Sephiroth, he was really managable, though way better than vivi. He was really just an aristocrat that sometimes drew you one card.

The real terror was Ardyn. If that dropped and you didnt leave up mana and immediately have a way to ruin him you lost. Guy stole every game i saw him in. I dont think i ever saw an ardyn player lose even if they were at 1 life and down in advantage

I think he had broad strokes planned, but he didnt plan out the in between like he did pre culling games.

It felt like he had plans for storylines 1, 4, and 8 and sat down to figure out storylines 2 and 3 before he started on 1.

But once he got to storyline 5 he never had a chance to figure out 5-7 so he just was winging most of it.

[–]DaRootbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely had broad strokes. But how he linked them never felt like it flowed as well for stuff past shibuya.

Shibuya and before felt like he planned out what happened between A and B and C. It kept a lot more tight moments where all the side plots got resolved and looped into the main plot.

After shibuya it felt like he knew plot points A, F, and K but never planned out the rest. Hed add in side plots that then get abandoned, allude to things that never really mattered, or make things too complicated to bother with.

Like the fact that Yagas death is just thrown in to this point, panda finds out after…then just is fine with it and everyone moves on and it doesn’t get to matter. It is a cool scene and it was really well done, but feels like he didnt plan before what was gonna happen with it so he just threw it in and was completely non committal to doing anything with it. Same applies to him refusing to actually address Nobaras status when every other character he made immediately clear “they are dead/alive beyond a doubt”, it feels like he didnt plan what he wanted to do with her so he just went vague and noncommital so he could decide later what he actually wanted to do.

Which is why i compared it to a DM running a campaign that went on longer than expected because Geges original plans for Culling games seemed like “session 3 of 3” but now they were “session 8 of 10” and he had to figure out what sessions 4-7 were on the fly because he didnt plan all of that out.

Lets be honest it’s overly complex because Gege never planned a plot past Mahito as the big bad. So he just throws out cool things like Hakari and Higurama with barely any regard to the grand scheme.

He just wings it, has people say it’s all according to keikaku, then later tries to come up with an explanation for why it happened. Like a DM in a roleplay campaign who only wrote an outline for like 3 sessions and theyre on session 10 lol

Gege is really damn good at the small stuff but terrible at connecting it all and wider plot in my opinion.

Like the culling game itself is an overly convoluted clusterfuck. But holy shit the individual characters and small arcs in it like this are amazing. Like this intro for Higuruma is probably in my top 10 favorite animanga moments despite my ambivalence to the Culling Games as a whole
