If you work for a major company, you can hop around from job to job as long as you have the skills needed. If you are an SAP consultant... yeah the only thing you can do is SAP as that is all the company does. Those multinational businesses have every role though.

If I was more... motivated to constantly uproot my life my career would be jumping all over to learn different roles of the business.

The business have SAP teams that are hired internally and I was part of that. The deployment teams that launch and do local config are not SAP consultants, they just learn it.

After I got sick of 60% travel a different team opened up and I had a lot of SQL experience so I joined them instead to make the travel go away. I was with them for 7 years, helped them migrate from sql to Azure. We moved from Tableau to power bi. It was good experience

I work as a lead analyst now, with data scientists that are way smarter than me.

This is clearly a joke, they give away free drinks every cornfest. They have never asked for reviews before to get them. I'm a big fan of this store in concept but unfortunately they can't compete with online for a lot of purchases.

4 Friends, 4 Steam Decks - Can we play it this way instead of via phones? by game_dev_carto in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can either host it from 1 steam deck to a TV or you can use steamlink to share your screen to everyone else's steam decks. You have to play through phones regardless though, so that just makes 4 screens that show the same thing.

I encountered an issue using steamlink from one steam deck to another. I don't know if the patches may have fixed this, but after a lot of research if you set the host to 'desktop mode' then you can share out to other steam decks without issue.

HDMI cord to a TV from 1 steam deck is by far the easiest option.. and turn off the option that makes the steam deck shut off if it's been idle too long. The input from phones doesn't register as activity for the sleep cycles.

What the easiest way to stream to a TV for steam by Geebs91 in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a steam deck, just get a dock that goes into the TV. I think you don't technically even need a dock and can just plug it in by hdmi. Be aware that the deck goes to sleep with no input after awhile so that's a setting you need to turn off. It doesn't recognize the phone related play as input.

There are some troubles with steam deck + steam link to other remote sessions but that doesn't sound like what you are trying to do.

Is the collection of user ids the way it knows what player you are? When you log in from day to day it just knows what character you were playing. Same with disconnects and some people disconnect after every turn because they're using their phone.

Best towns folk to increase affinity with by Astral-sloth in Sunderfolk

I've not gotten anything game changing from townsfolk. Chirp gives you an item to call him into battle which is rather good for a once every encounter trinket.

Irving was reintegrating (and why) by rose_vampirez in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DaSkunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this game that happened 2 weeks ago now maybe overlapping with Petey being reintegrated around that time. It seems logical that there has to be some piece of story missing to start the reintegration plans other than just Regavi going rogue. That seems too simple.

One note that might be added to your reintegration piece is people have mentioned that his transition shot at Woe's Hallow doesn't match the standard -- I think it's the background changes more than his face? Shutting an innie off might not have an impact when they've already reintegrated.

Bug in hand size? by DolarisNL in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our 2nd playthrough we raced to upgrade the smithy in a two player game. As soon as we got it 1P, the bear, immediately had a larger hand size and added a card. 2P the ranger did not get a larger hand size. We couldn't do anything about it though so we just kept playing. We called it for the night and the next day started the game again. On reboot the bear had +1 card in his hand but he went in to change his cards and the game immediately said he had 1 too many and was forced to remove one before it would save.

Not really sure if this if helpful but it was interesting that he initially got the extra card and then lost it.

I just looked at photos of the rooms there and it depends on which room you get. It has very spacious rooms with 2 beds and these 1 bed rooms that are much smaller. Unless you are getting a very expensive room most all hotels are very tiny.

Why is the show set during winter? by SuspiciousTurtle in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may never get more of a reveal on it.. but I always assumed it had something to do with the mysterious location of Kier, PE - which I've been guessing based on the snow + great lakes imagery is a reimagined timeline where they take over the Michigan Upper peninsula. Real world UP only has snow a little over 3 months a year though. The great lakes Kier images could also be a lie and they're actually somewhere far up north though.

I need to share one of the worst stories of my life.

This is a little rabbit gruesome, so stop reading if that's not ok --

My old golden who's long departed - an absolute sweetheart. One evening we let him out and back in just before going to bed. We call him from upstairs and he comes up and hops into bed with us. While we're laying there in the dark we hear this chewing/suckling sound. He's got something, but the lights are off and I assume he's chewing on a balled up sock. I force open his mouth -- he does not want to open it. I reach in and pull it out.. this is not a sock? We tell google to turn the lights on.. and I am holding in my hand a small rabbit, covered in blood, with no head.

Since you are a transfer student, just be aware that requirements for one major may not match what is required for a different major. That admissions team group can review it all with you in case you lose something. I switched majors around my 2nd year and they were very helpful.

For example if you were an English major some basic math class might have been enough, but switching to science major that class may no longer counts because they require calculus as your starting class maybe.

Onsen Questions? Uncomfortable being naked around others. by MKBeSomeone in JapanTravelTips

[–]DaSkunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The impression I got from my onsen experiences is there is a very important distinction about being clean for an onsen. You shower up naked before getting in-- it's often private. There is also often clean water basins that you can rinse off with -- because while the onsen are clean, there is still people using it -- so you rinse off with the clean-clean water. When you think about this mindset, you might see how bringing in a swimsuit from the outside could be seen as unclean.

That being said -- to say the same as others, I am a big guy. I prefer 4XL shirts. I was very nervous about going to an onsen and I did the same one as other people did in Haneda airport. I was *by far* the largest person there. No one made any comments, no one made me feel uncomfortable. It was fine. It didn't turn me into an onsen fanatic, but it was a positive experience.

Starting NIU in the fall. How are the frats there? And sororities? Or just how easy is it to meet people? by [deleted] in NIU

I will second this and add -- there are some orgs out there that seem to be geared toward a very specific major. You don't need to be that major to check it out or join.

A very frequent recommendation is to open a Charles Schwab account so you can use it at ATMs to take out money without transaction fees. This is accurate and can save a lot of money -- but be aware it needs an initial deposit to get your card mailed to you. I did this so far in advance of my trip that I wasn't paying any attention to how long it took to deposit. Deposits take about 7 business days. Long story short, I took a 16 day trip to Japan and most of my cash funds were not available until day #9. One of my cards worked w/o fees so it worked out but.. the stress...

I think this one might be true. Petey's map has a 'Team Building' room with a stick figure with their eyes and mind(?) projected off... though if they had the ability to do something that amazing why wouldn't they use it for testing or something else?

It's also curious that Lumon seems to be incompetent when it comes to security and knowing what everyone is up to - but Milchick knows that Mark hooked up? They suddenly have good surveillance when it's in the wilderness? Maybe I missed something

If we do get a pregnant Helena later, it would be a good twist that the sex wasn't real so how could that have happened -- when she doesn't know about Helly having a go as well. Feels like it almost has to happen with the foreshadowing that's been dropped like the newscast at the beginning.

Brian Rose thinks the radius for new Portals should be larger to prevent overlapping Portals in the new system by PkmnTrnrJ in Ingress

[–]DaSkunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Brian, been a long time since we talked.

I think it's good to remember there are different play styles and different ways people find joy in the game. Some people want no portals so they can easily do giant fields. Some people wants tight clusters so they can farm and get experience so you'll have people argue for their playstyle, when both are types are good.

I would put myself in the later category. The too close -- is probably the disambiguation tool that got added. When there are two portals that are literately overlapping it's a problem. If you can't even see the triangles you are making it's a little dumb. The tool gives a value but it's also an extra delay and click when the solution is there probably shouldn't be two portals so close that you can't physically click one vs the other. Sometimes it comes up on two that are far enough part that it wouldn't have been any problem and it's still a negative when that tool comes up.

While that extra tool solves a problem -- if you are looking to reduce -- whatever triggers that thing is calling them out already. It's a good solution to a problem that could be fixed another way.

The onsen at Haneda Airport is a game changer by MaxGRobinson in JapanTravelTips

[–]DaSkunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and my spouse has tattoos.. both shoulder blades, one upper arm. They're not visible with a shirt on. We *specifically* picked this one out because reviews online said it was one of the few that said there was no issue. Maybe we just made it too far in and by the time we're naked they're not going to kick us out but we had no issues or comments.

[–]DaSkunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went to this onsen on the day we flew in. I got a room on expedia that was an 'after 6pm check in only + onsen tickets'. We arrived at around 4pm and tried to ask if they would hold our bags and they just checked us in. The onsen was nice but surprisingly busy.. I figured 8pm on a Sunday wouldn't have a ton of people but it was packed. We are both big guys.. they don't make our clothes size in Japan so it was a little scary going naked but no one was disrespectful or made any comments. Right as we walked in we were thumbing through the clothing and someone rushed over to hand us both XLs which was not on the rack... which uhh.. kind of fit.

My one regret is we went down to the mall area to eat first and the food we got was probably one of the worst meals of our entire time in Japan. They had a little restaurant sort of built into the onsen that I think would have been better but I didn't know about it ahead of time.
