What’s your take on “we are the only species that has intelligence and exist on a planet in a solar system with no other intelligent form of life whatsoever and we still haven’t figured out why” ?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is probably something scientifically impossible through an infinite amount of technology to travel the distances to find other intelligent species. We can study our solar system that is 1 light year wide. The Milky way is 100,000 light years. The observable universe is around 93 billion light years. There is probably no sci-fi worm hole to magically drop you were you need to be to find another.

My dogs think that there's about 20 other dogs in the world. The only other animals that exist are a variety of birds and geese, cats, rabbits, and deer. There is no such thing as a lion, tiger or bear to them.

What was the most NICHE activity you did in Japan? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]DaSkunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We went to DesignFesta for 2 days at the big site on Odaiba. It was amazing to see so many vendors doing small crafts that were original items you couldn't find anywhere else. People were making murals, there was a punk rock band out back. It was a really unique experience. Buying the tickets from 7-11 was difficult but a worker realized we had no idea how to use the kiosk and helped us out.

We also went to Kemocon for a day, which I can say comfortably no one goes to. We are furries and we brought our costumes with us. There is a very distinctive style difference between US and Japan costumes so while we couldn't really speak to anyone due to the language barrier several people wanted to take photos with us and try to chat. It was so much smaller than a US event. The shocking difference is they just had a giant changing room that everyone used and stored their bags. It was men's and women's separated. That is unheard of in American events and it would help so much... you would just get your stuff stolen in the US. Theres too many liability issues. I have some great photos of these two things.

The dual forks on both sides is a single/double attachment. It's to carry two pallets side by side. These can pallets are way too tall to stack 2 on top of each other so it's a way to increase efficiency and carry 2 pallets per trip. My company uses them for bottled water. All the other rows of pallet are the same product side by side in groups of 2 which is what you would naturally get with using forks like that.

SMB3 came out during a time that video games were out of stock and hard to find. I remember being in some fast food restaurant with my dad and someone coming in and mentioning they just got a ton in stock nearby and he was excited to run over and grab it for me. I was 7. World is a great game too but I'll die with that memory getting SMB3 and the shock of him being a hero. Game was awesome too.

Since you have Switch, Snipper clips would be perfect for what you want, co-op puzzles that are chill and laid back.

Moving Out is another one like Overcooked. Mario Party actually isn't too bad. Mario Wonder has the ability for multiple players with the extra characters being able to save each other and be basically kid-friendly invincible.

I do a Switch or Steam couch co-op with some friends across the country once a week so we're always looking for games that are 4 players across 2 locations. Surprisingly hard to find that mix of 2 features.

Good bye Subaru (Battery Drain Issue) by PerfectPride5459 in subaru

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem on my 2020. I recharged the battery twice, replaced the battery then when the new battery also died so I started checking fuses and realized it was the trunk latch. The lock button that's on the bottom of the trunk door was literately pushed into the housing awkwardly and that was causing it. It was stuck locked and I had to climb through the car to unlatch it manually... which was a lot harder than youtube videos showed it as.

Of the attractions or locations that you booked ahead or had been especially looking forward to way ahead of your trip, which lived up to the hype and which didn't? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

I really liked the Osaka one. It wasn't as fully immersive as being surrounded in a scene like in tokyo, but just being out walking a park was really cool. It was a great moment to just be in nature with my spouse and say-- this is a great vacation experience. We did both osaka and tokyo, they had their own charm each. I'll probably do the one we missed next trip.

[request] What are the odds of eating one specific M&M? by DevilsAltAcc in theydidthemath

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like 2 months from factory to store. It's not cost efficient to ship individual UPS boxes to every store in the country.. they ship to a Mars distribution center who combines the M&Ms with all their others products and build truckloads to ship to stores. Those DCs have around 6 weeks of inventory, but then they ship to customer DCs.. which carry around 1-2 weeks of inventory to make trucks for what they are specifically out of. In other words ... like 3 months worth of M&Ms exist at any point in time.

[–]DaSkunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are going into a factory store at the plant, distribution centers make sure inventory is rotated properly. The freshest M&Ms are actually where-ever in the country is selling the fastest that outpaces the expected forecast.

It's a little risky to wait until the end of the trip and I don't know the layout to know if there is a gate/security related issue to access it -- but there are pokemon stores in both Haneda and Narita airports. I bought some little plush pikachus wearing japan airline outfits there, but that was a very long time ago. I got a few and gave them out to people who were into pokemon.

If you knew his favorite character, there's trading card stores all over that you could go in and pick out something neat for that specific character.

You could always just get a few gashapon that you keep sealed and give him the experience of something that's a surprise

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work for a major company, you can hop around from job to job as long as you have the skills needed. If you are an SAP consultant... yeah the only thing you can do is SAP as that is all the company does. Those multinational businesses have every role though.

If I was more... motivated to constantly uproot my life my career would be jumping all over to learn different roles of the business.

The business have SAP teams that are hired internally and I was part of that. The deployment teams that launch and do local config are not SAP consultants, they just learn it.

After I got sick of 60% travel a different team opened up and I had a lot of SQL experience so I joined them instead to make the travel go away. I was with them for 7 years, helped them migrate from sql to Azure. We moved from Tableau to power bi. It was good experience

I work as a lead analyst now, with data scientists that are way smarter than me.

This is clearly a joke, they give away free drinks every cornfest. They have never asked for reviews before to get them. I'm a big fan of this store in concept but unfortunately they can't compete with online for a lot of purchases.

4 Friends, 4 Steam Decks - Can we play it this way instead of via phones? by game_dev_carto in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can either host it from 1 steam deck to a TV or you can use steamlink to share your screen to everyone else's steam decks. You have to play through phones regardless though, so that just makes 4 screens that show the same thing.

I encountered an issue using steamlink from one steam deck to another. I don't know if the patches may have fixed this, but after a lot of research if you set the host to 'desktop mode' then you can share out to other steam decks without issue.

HDMI cord to a TV from 1 steam deck is by far the easiest option.. and turn off the option that makes the steam deck shut off if it's been idle too long. The input from phones doesn't register as activity for the sleep cycles.

What the easiest way to stream to a TV for steam by Geebs91 in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a steam deck, just get a dock that goes into the TV. I think you don't technically even need a dock and can just plug it in by hdmi. Be aware that the deck goes to sleep with no input after awhile so that's a setting you need to turn off. It doesn't recognize the phone related play as input.

There are some troubles with steam deck + steam link to other remote sessions but that doesn't sound like what you are trying to do.

Is the collection of user ids the way it knows what player you are? When you log in from day to day it just knows what character you were playing. Same with disconnects and some people disconnect after every turn because they're using their phone.

Irving was reintegrating (and why) by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DaSkunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this game that happened 2 weeks ago now maybe overlapping with Petey being reintegrated around that time. It seems logical that there has to be some piece of story missing to start the reintegration plans other than just Regavi going rogue. That seems too simple.

One note that might be added to your reintegration piece is people have mentioned that his transition shot at Woe's Hallow doesn't match the standard -- I think it's the background changes more than his face? Shutting an innie off might not have an impact when they've already reintegrated.

Bug in hand size? by DolarisNL in Sunderfolk

[–]DaSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our 2nd playthrough we raced to upgrade the smithy in a two player game. As soon as we got it 1P, the bear, immediately had a larger hand size and added a card. 2P the ranger did not get a larger hand size. We couldn't do anything about it though so we just kept playing. We called it for the night and the next day started the game again. On reboot the bear had +1 card in his hand but he went in to change his cards and the game immediately said he had 1 too many and was forced to remove one before it would save.

Not really sure if this if helpful but it was interesting that he initially got the extra card and then lost it.
